  1. Okay, so do you clearcoat before or after painting lures, or both? Also what is the difference between clearcoating before and superglue bathing, thanks!
  2. An easy trick to increase casting distance tremendously is to flush the bearings of grease out of the factory and replace with a low viscosity high performance oil . However the grease in the bearings does increase longevity and lifespan over oil, especially if you are not cleaning your reels reasonably often.
  3. A reel, no rod or line attached, not even to the hook but the dropshot weight... thought it was a fish..... cleaned it up and use it as a beater in the salt,
  4. Swimjig, I prefer swimming an flipping jig, don't like the insanely heavy swimjig hook, just overkill for my fisheries.
  5. Gluidebaits, it's been rough man, hooked into my pb on a gamtarel, just for him to shake the hook, then the fin on the gantarel broke, and on another trip I took an s waver and got it caught on submerged wood, went swimming out to my neck in a nasty pond probably infested with brain eating bacteria....
  6. lol, not every color but I picked up a few pop maxes for a steal on black friday, although I am really enjoying damikis popper as well as river to seas bubble walker, I tend to buy lures when the sales are hot I got river 2 seas bubble walkers for like 6.50 a piece on black friday as well as 4 for damikis poppers,
  7. How much have you invested into your fishing??? And how much have you lost in lures? I have about 500$ in rods for all species, I buy second hand/used so have gotten very good deals... I have spent roughly 700-800 on lures, line, and terminal tackle, that sounds like alot but I think that is not bad for all species as long as I've been fishing, this year I got carried away and I have tallied up a total of 311$ spent this year.
  8. Yup, it's a hassle to even take two rods, I normally just take one mh jack of all trades, and from time to time the jack of all trades m spinning rod
  9. I have some, I would upload pictures but bassresourcws fourm image upload setup is corky, but in a nutshell, they are alright, but I have had alot of problems with my two. I will explain some of the problems 1. Gear teeth breaking, (brass main gear under pressure+plastic worm leveling gears (both) 2. Tolerances have gotten really loose, and backplay has become a problem of an inch in comparison to the instant antireverse. 3. The graphite frame on both my kastking crixuses have warped over time. The flexed frame screws with the thumb bar mechanism and does not let the thumb bar pop up anymore, and is very sticky. 4. Customer service was alright, I got parts ordered to fix some of these problems but not for free, I think I paid 15$ for everything, sadly the reel crapped out a few trips later lol. 5. Breaks are a little on the weaker side, but that is because of the lighter spool imo which is a good thing In a nutshell, while this sounds bad, for a 60$ reel it came with alot of nice features reels in that price point don't come with these things included 1. Aluminum over graphite drag star 2. 14 gram stock spool for casting lighter lures flawlessly (standard is 17-22) 3. Clicking drag star and spool tension 4. Frame does feel better than a bmax or lews 50$ reel (although it did warp on me while the lews and bmax didnt) Personally you may be better off going full CDM, I have been super pleased with my seaknight red fox, it's a Shimano curado copycat with a graphite frame and is nasty and beautiful, I got the reel and a spare spool for 30$, it has an adjustable centrifugal breaking system and it works well, spool weight is 12 gram and 14 gram, it's a good reel even with an audible drag (it clicks when fish pulls, but not a bfs reel)
  10. Haven't doesn't mean it won't happen, even the pros break their leader knots all the time up north from accidents in tournaments for smb. Has personally not been the case for me, 20$ for braid is costly even if does last me 3 seasons, I buy coplymers for 10 bucks for 1000 yards, I can spool up 10 times, I only spool up 2-3 times a season if fishing rough abrasive cover multiple times a week. A 1000 yard spool of coplymer lasts me roughly 3 years, the same as my braided line but for half the cost, keeping my old braided line under 60lb is sketchy after it being over 3 years. I think the "braid saving money" may be a marketing phrase to a certain extent, and the coplymer I use is pretty good izorlines, but you can buy a 700 yard spool of zebco omniflex for 2 dollars that works just fine having a 10lb strength for 12lb line with a clinch knot, and a diameter of 15lb high end monos.
  11. You have three options.... 1. Shorten leader to 2-3 foot and cast with it outside the top guide 2. learn to tie the FG knot, however know that while all braid to leader guys make it sound romantic, its another weak spot in the line, it is another knot to tie, everyone is human and may get it wrong out on the water, and may result in loosing your biggest fish 3. switch to coplymer or florocarbon, or use straight braid if flipping, P.S, anyone who says that the FG knot is just as reliable as one fishermans knot on straight mono and floro, they are either lying or not human because it is human to err on knots, expecially leader knots when in a rush, low light conditions, cold weather lowering fine motor skills, or just in general. but If they want to pay the extra buck for braid and fart around with a leader and schill while bass are busting, go for it... more fish for me
  12. Yup this ^^^^^ when I go on the bank it's only for a few hours, I take one Plano box of different hard baits, and one box of terminal tackle, than just some plastics. Amy time, any weather, as long as it's above 50, although I do best with the classic low light conditions
  13. Region plays a factor in this for me, first hardbait bite I ever caught a fish on was a topwater, second was a gluidebait so in a nutshell I have tons of confidence in these baits, but I have never caught a fish on a ned rig, I don't like them and would rather fish a small Texas rig or micro jig
  14. Not particularly, I'd say I'm a villan that causes alot of chaos, I'm just trying to not cause as much chaos as I normally do.
  15. Seems kind of funny that the people who don't want anymore fisherman fishing are not the ones volunteering to sit out, the same selfish mindset of tournament anglers and pros saying there are too many tournaments and recreational anglers.... the hypocrisy is insane
  16. I don't own one at the moment but shimano slx rod felt amazing, light, crisp, comfortable. My favorite rod I own know is a dobyns fury, light and crisp as well, I'm sure there are better rods I would like more out there but anything over 100$ is crazy for me
  17. This , I throw awimbairs on a abu reel w no breaking, I will say though, breaks do allow further casting and put more energy behind a cast as you kind of have to be gentle on non breaked reels, cast slower, less whipping motion.
  18. I never switch unless switching is needed, depending on weather water clarity+temp etc, usually the first lure I choose works the best because I chose it for a reason. When I did not know much about fishing I had to learn what lures to switch to when and why, that is all just intuitive now, I no longer question what I throw when I throw it unless it needs questioning
  19. The SV spool is just a little more upgraded
  20. Yes at this exact point in time too. Wrenching bass in on 12-15lb line and a baitcaster mh rod can get boring real quick, today instead of that I went flipping and pitching with 4lb line, ultralight rod, and a nightcrawler into bullrush and laydowns. Great fun, lots of fish caught, great fights. Caught 2.5lb bass and it was quite the fight. Light line and rods makes it a lot more fun, bass fishing culture is sadly overkill.
  21. Topwaters are my confidence and go to moving bait for bites, larger swimbaits are my scouting tool.
  22. Trickworm in various sizes
