  1. Plastics and maybe a few hard baits that you have confidence in, then terminal tackle. I'd personally take one spinning rod as a medium or medium heavy spinning rod can do almost anything species and lure wise
  2. Stretch it our at a park on a tree or pre soak spools in water
  3. I own 3 pfluger presidents, have had them all now going on 5 years still just as new with very minimal maintenance and heavy fishing. I will say hindsight 2020 I felt as though the diawas (revros legal regal ballistic etc etc) are twice as smooth and personally I feel as though the line lay is a tad bit better and the spool design is better. With that said I like the pflugers alot and my favorite thing about them over the diawas is the positive clicking sound when flipping the bail, it locks in really crisp like and prevents that bail flinging back over issue when you cast
  4. Eagle claw sells huge "pro packs" of both 3/0 and 4/0, it's like $5 for 20 or something 2/0 and 1/0 for me are more specialty, if you are on a budget eagle claws work for me great, If you want the sharpest owner and gammies are good. Personally I'd buy individually
  5. I couldn't bring myself to cop out the 15 for it but it looks beautiful in the water.
  6. Throw what you would on spinning, bfs perfers lures over 1 gram, especially if stock. Bfs for me thrives really well in the 2 gram+ range lures, even if you upgrade the hell out of a reel for maximum performance 1gram is manageable but difficult and accuracy is lost in comparison to spinning. Good trout lures for bfs are heavy for their size, just keep in mind this may spook fish more than a lighter lure of same size. I'd you are asking for lure reccomendations, I like Tungsten in line spinners Megabass great hunting S Claw 70 Spoons Yo zuri pins minnows Yo zuri l minnow Dynamic trout HD Etc plastic small jerks in nutshell
  7. Maybe im crazy and underestimate bass weights but for some reason when I catch fish that big I think they are 4lbers, maybe its just because im in california so ive become jaded and numb to catching fish that big, My pb was proably closer to what you mentioned but im conservative and just say 4 XD, but whenever I pull out the scale on occasion it changes my mind lol. In surfing out here in the coast we always say 4ft Hawaii is 20ft Sandiego lol, its just a cultural and regional thing i guess.
  8. Yes, but they searched my name in the system and was clear. If you are asking if you should buy a license, yes you should even if some state run DFG/DFW departments have become very swampy and bureaucratic in nature. (note, this is not ment as an attack on the officers in the field, but instead the higher ups that are on non-elected boards that make all of the decisions without ANY public input and OCCASIONALLY scientific data).
  9. I like the lights for smaller game fish like trout and crappie, normal is nice for bass plastics, like Tom mentioned I also like it for live baitfish.
  10. I think the fish much rather perfer a human holding them "incorrectly" with a 15 second out of water than the photoshoot paparazzi guys holding them the "Right way" for more than a few minutes. Being 100% frank could care less about holding the fish correctly, I'm more worried about catching a hook in my hand.
  11. Okay I have a lixida and gomexus handle, I will review both 1. Lixida) the lixida handle has a nice light carbon handle however it will bend easily, the knobs are a cheap eva foam, it is not near as nice or durable as other Eva foam knobs such as the KK lineup of Eva foaming or SKs foamies.foaming. also the tolerances are in the knobs are OK, but will be a ABSOLUTE downgrade from your stock shimano handle tolerances. The tolerance have just minimal wiggle, but (slightly) noticeable when fishing). This causes that feeling were instant anti reverse is not as crisp. 2. Gomexus handle. The gomexus handle WAS amazing, light carbon handle and excellent aluminum knobs that spun for a long time and had super tight tolerances relatable to your stock handle, however the handle knob ended up pulling off. Now I put this reel handle through alot of stress, so take that with a grain of salt. My only gripe is the price being 30ish in comparison to the 10$ lixida. Conclusion: If you are looking for a cheap handle replacement, go with the lixida, if you are looking for an expensive nice upgrade, the gomexus is nice but you will most likely like a jdm one more, and if you don't want to spend 30+ on a new handle, the stock one is really good
  12. Yes I think that is also screwing with me, with the fish coming at me with mock5 speed trying to kill the jig I notice that I don't hit them as hard because of the slack, I will focus on reeling down faster I think
  13. Because before you reccomended me those light wire jigs I just ordered all I saw in the store was the heavy ones lol Yeah I think so, but every extra idea is helpful, thanks!
  14. Kicky kind of craws and beavers, I think ones a rage claw and another is a off brand yum style, both look like a craw or beaver plastic tho
  15. Depending on how much money you want to spend, when you say "heavy" I will list different weights I think are heavy enough to comfortably cast associated to said lure Rebel pop R (1/4) R2s bubble walker 1/2) R2s bubble popper (3/8 for small) Damiki d pop (3/8 but more 1/4ish) Bps xps popper (1/4 but on scale is .20 or 1/5th) Yo zuri 3bd/3ds poppers (1/4-3/8th for small and large model)
  16. Good info everyone, excellent info. Jigs have been troublesome for me hookup ratio wise since will try all these new reccomendations. Excellent info, I will try lowering the weed gaurd down, these weed gaurds are quite a bit higher up, almost 90 degrees to the hook shank, will try this I think I'm starting to notice that alot, I'm really going to put the effort into the hook set more, on trigs alot of the time, maybe I'll even switch to a slightly stouter rod to aid in the hookset. Excellent reccomendation, I think I am going those route!
  17. Man I am having a love hate relationship with the jig at the moment, I dont know if it is my style or what but I have recently gotten 6 solid jig bites over the last 2months and have not been able to hook a single fish. I have had them on for a few seconds at most and then they just pop off. Not entirely sure if its because jig hooks have stupidly heavy wire or if it has to do with the weed guard, but in comparison to t rig fishing I have a 100% hookup ratio of getting a EWG fish in the boat after they have been stuck, but the jig has just been wierd. Im setting the hook pretty much the same way as a trig, so if anyone has different ideas let me know, I have even tried thinning the weed guard a little bit but at this point im thinking its most likley due to me using stretchy 12lb mono which probably does not favor the heavy hooks of jigs. P.S (Im using casting/arkie style jig heads with a "standard jig wire hook" almost identical to the diameter of a chatterbait wire hook, some brands are slightly heavier some are slightly wire gauge. (Also note, all fish where visibly seen for a few seconds when pitching/ swimming and all fish where between 2-4 pounds, none smaller which makes me think that they are not struggling to get the entire thing in their mouth)
  18. Yup... it's a cultural issue at this point, American slobism. India and China can be off the hook because their people are just trying to get higher quality of life, but for America its just laziness.
  19. All of this, lighter line for me seems to show jump and twitch more livley during bites as well.
  20. They have gotten insanely expensive, 4-5 bucks and in line spinners for me don't lost more than half a dozen fish before the wire gets bent past no repair and they don't spin well anymore. I buy blue foxes are cheaper, but I have had great luck on the 20packs for 20$ on Amazon, cheaper and they usually come with a nice case.
  21. lol yup... ya gatta have so many rods, special reels, florocarbon for this, braid for that, 15lb for this but you cant use 12lb, it cant but 7"3 thats too long, you gatta have 6"11, etc etc. its all Marketing scheme and racket. Sold all my specialty fishing rods, Only have a few MH casting and a M spinning for bass, all use mono, I am so happy and am not looking back. I made the switch because gas prices+everything else are asinine and I dont have the money to spend for wants as much anymore. Sure I may not hook every fish on 12lb mono on a frog, but I refuse to fish the "right way" with the "right equiptment" and would say I am fishing the "right way" for my situation.
  22. Thanks, yes it's wood, will do that!
  23. Excellent info guys, will post image when finished, first bait I have put alot of effort into
