  1. I usually never peg my weights, if I do I use a toothpick, the local diner doesn't like me much...
  2. As the title mentioned, I don't like this new guy that's been around my local lake, I've seen the man outfishing me 5-1 and he is not a catch and release type of guy. With prespawn coming around the corner I'm nervous the bedding bass don't stand a chance. Worst part of all he is always over his limit and keeps a lot of small ones, I gave him a piece of his mind and gave him a scolding but he just looked at me with "the look". Called DFG but they don't seem to care to terribly much, saying "it just happens". To top it all of he didn't even buy his fishing license this year... Here is a image of the little runt.
  3. Spinning reel... just kidding (laugh here), I cannot promise you either of those reels can throw anything lighter than 3/32 or a little lighter than 1/8th. If you are willing to go down the rabbit hole, prepare your wallet, credit card, mortgage, and invest in a pair of pliers because those gold teeth may just need to come out. ? all joking aside guys abovehave good reccomendations.
  4. U think they'd ship me out a spare fin for free? Eh my hopes are low nowdays even for a 30$ lure
  5. The fly fishing industry overpriced everything, diawa has some really nice fly rods that are not overpriced, and it blows my mind how people spend 400+ on a fly reel. It's not rocket science to build a fly reel yknow? It just holds line and has drag. At that point it becomes jewelry imo. Anyways enough of my rambling.
  6. Funny this pops up, was fishing mine today and the fin came off, didn't drop it or anything, the glue must have just came undone, swims terribly now
  7. Awesome! If you need help with any concerns of plants DM me, majoring in horticulture and planning to work at a nursery.
  8. Shimano sensilite, I think is a one piece, but they are like ghosts, shimano slx sells has a medium light one piece, also check diawas rods, right now a one piece light may be hard to find, a medium light rod I wish you the best of luck in your searches
  9. This, ^^^^dates are just numbers, but spring, is one of the most synergistic times of the year, it's the season of life.
  10. Amazing piece of history, you are a library and wealth of historical information, love to learn about the west coast fisheries and the people who fished them before me.
  11. Did he just tie the line to a long rod like crappie fishing flipping?
  12. Picked up a big spool of 12lb mono and been playing around with it, kind of like a kid at the lake skipping stones, but I'm in my backyard pool. Super fun, except when neighbors look over the fence with that look ?
  13. This ^^^ rarely use floro unless I really want the thinner diameter, however all this is thrown out the window for trout and carp, I have even seen line shadows spook trout easily, hundreds of times, especially in shallow clear water
  14. So just to be 100% clear, I'm not talking about avoid backlash, but mastering these skills Basic overhead cast Flipping/ pitching Sidearm cast Roll cast Skipping basic baits like senkos or flukes or jigs Skipping advanced baits like cranks, spinnerbaits, and creature baits. I've been practicing for about a few hours a week for roughly 5 years now, I would say I can do everything but Skipping effectivley, I can skip but it is a challenge. How long has it taken you to master the baitcaster?
  15. What are your thoughts on the dobyns fury swimbait rod? been playing around with one I own but have the one for lighter swimbaits, any experience with the 2-8oz one?
  16. not really needed to terribly badly, you wont be imparting any action into the bait because you just let it sit on bottom, monofilament works fine, you can use your bass baitcaster or bass spinning rod if you would like, unless you dont want to get catfish slime on it. catfish are not line shy either.
  17. windy days are some of my most productive topwater days, it can be hard to retrieve certain lures, but big, heavy, poppy/churny/obnockshoish lures have done well for me, or even a heavy spinner/chatter near the surface has been good.
  18. Awesome info! Will check out the reccomendations, thanks for the input much appreciated.
  19. thanks brother, I truley do hope you get better soon too.
  20. Hope he doesn't have what I have, I am relatively young and am in good shape plus got all the vaccines and man I fatigue easily, it's been rough for fishing, hopefully it is not permanent, I got covid 8 months ago
  21. floating lipless cranks, who uses them, what brands do you like! tell me your secrets!!!!
  22. Less bulky when side arm casting, less material bumps your arm when flipping, gives you a nice ball at the butt of your rod to grip when side arm casting. Biggest win for me is being able to add hookholders in between the split, for dropshots.
