do you like semi slack line or tight line on jigs?

Depends on what lures you like to throw or work well on ur fishery, so it can also be different lake to lake, medium spinning and mh casting is peanut butter and jelly and a jack of all trades, ya just can't go wrong.

This ^^^^ this same thing has happened to me on vacation, on that same trip there was an environmentalist lady with a Peta shirt and saw me fly fishing, and walked her dog in the water and stood right where my fly was as the dog chased the fish I was sight fishing... took everything I had not to say anything, as she smirked at me...

Yes I have done this too, and it's very fun. It's a long story on why I hate bfs and is rather complicated to explain but it attracts a small percentage people that can be quite snobby out on the water, similar to fly fishing and the people that harass you to handle the fish gentler or cast over your line. Yes both of these things have happened to me and far worse, but I live in California and with a population so big I have ran into these people quite a bit.

I have a love hate relationship with bfs, It's great and practical for bass, the only problems are the price tag. I did heavy research into them for trout as well, but after thinking long and hard its stupid to spend 600+ on a combo where a nice 100$ spinning combo with ball bearing swivels will prevent the line twist created by current and trout lures. The cheapest cdm combo I could get together for trout was around 110$, but that's with all cdm gear that would be suitable for trout. Finally bfs is starting to turn into an elitist sport like fly fishing, this roots back to all the people that think spinning combos are fairy wonds or incompetent fisherman. At the end of the day I use bfs for bass, but using it for trout/crappie/whatever even with the highest end combo is simply rooted in the "superiority of BC reels" or wanting to look cool out on the water, even if they backlash every 2-3 casts trying to toss a trout magnet on their 600$ combo at a stocked trout pond.

Most full cork rods are for cranks or treble baits, there are a few out there as mentioned below, but not many as there is not much demand. If you want an intire collection of them you may be better building your own, it's really not to terribly expensive either

High 6's+ plus for all my techniques, I can always slow down, but it's hard to speed up

I'm sure you can throw a Texas rig in the winter, I just like the jig because of the skirt, and it's secondary action. I can't always throw a jig year round in my fisheries due to excessive grass, so I like to use the in the winter and spring, summer and fall they are just a grass magnet unless I'm dredging through it with a swimjig or something.

I am not sure to be completely honest with you, I am going to be trying some red hardbaits and put quite a bit of time into them this season, although my hopes are not super high... we will see, if anything the red will help stand out early spring from the mucked up water... that's my theory at least

Cast out, close the bail, reel up the slack, grab a carbonated beverage of some type (I opt for a pepsi) bring a sandwich from home, and wait... and wait some more.... and then wait a little more..... then you can give a small twitch or two and take another sip of your carbonated beverage. Most of my bites come when I do nothing at all and it's been still for 5 minutes.

Good information, thankyou! Been toying around with crankbaits and they are an amazing lure that has trebles but also comes through cover nicely, im starting to grow on them

I was watching some older prespawn videos to prepare this season and really want to catch more fish on moving hard baits this year instead of worming, I love worming but I do it too much. Anyways enough of the rambling do I really need a flat sided squarebill or can I get away with a standard kvd 1.5 style crank. P.S I have quite a few flat sided cranks but they are not squarebills and they are more of a coffin bill, anyone have luck with these and if they come through woody structure decently like squarebills do?

Picked up a few cdm reels off of aliexpress that where dirt cheap 20-30, and they seem really nice so far, the tolerances, and smoothness ain't no shimano but for a cdm reel they have come a long way, I won't bother to say which ones I have picked up until I test them further, but so far I am pleased with multiple brands of reels, rods are also impressive and have been shipped in pvc padded tubes, even the dirt cheap ones, a bigger upgrade from *cough cough bps+sportsmanswarhouse cough cough*

Blood knot or surgeons knot are the easiest. Don't bother with the others because they are complex and I don't have the patience to bother tying them.

I had an older version of that pellet rifle, bought a new one, it's called a weiwarch and is made in Germany and imported over, its beautiful and was roughly 500$ only problem is I live in a suburban neighborhood and the thing goes super fast with .22 sized caliber, will drop rabbits dead and has excellent range and accuracy however because of the neighborhood we live in its hard to find a "safe" area to shoot the thing, the best method was to stick a bale of hay in a wheelbarrow and put targets on the hay... that worked great until they eventually went through that

Our generation is very thankful for the innovations, the only thing that has stood the test of time that I use almost every trip is monofilament and a trusty hat... plus maybe a net.

Glass rods have been around forever, besides the obvious points of slower action to peg trebles better, they will also last you a lifetime and are WAY more durable, they have gotten better from the older ones, plus they are a blast to fish with on many different lures as the fish loads up big on the rod and the tip bends way over, not to mention they are DIRT cheap, even the nicer ones are reasonably priced at around $100

50$ is crazy for me price wise, you lost me at 500$ your lure costs more than some of my nicest combos lmao

It's normal for all my pfluger reels, factory puts grease in them that gets really hard in colder weather, fighting through it a few times warms it back up, if you get cold water in there it can last a while... one way to prevent it is to get all that grease out and replace it with your favorite grease . I live in southern California and it still happens often so that tells you something because it doesn't get too cold and it still happens on colder winter days, feel bad for people trying to ice fish or trout fish rivers and creeks up north

Yes braid is fine, I use 6-8lb mono because I like mono, you can use coply and floro if you wish, anything medium-medium light is a fine rod, use spinning rod lures, it's basically has the castability of a spinning reel in the body of a spinning reel. Spoons for bass are fun! They last forever and they can hold great memories because they last forever! People don't use them much but they work for all other species and have been around forever, nothing more classic!

Alot of it is personally preference, siebart has a following as most know, you got the baby boo from boo yah, and you got the Strike King Bitsy Flip which I like, there are so many different choices, they all are nice.
