  1. There are several reasons I DONT like bps much anymore 1. They pump their own bps lures over high quality lures, want damiki, megabass, jackall, r2s baits exist but not readily available. If I'm paying 5 bucks for a pack of stick o, just give me the real thing from tw for a buck or two more or on sale for the same price 2. They have a misleading at best and really yucky sales pratice at worst selection on casting reels and rods. I am 100% sure they partnered up with pure fishing (a company i really hate for so many reasons) so they only carry casting reels under 100$ in pure fishing or Johnny Morris reels, good luck finding a diawa cc80? Cr80, shimano caius, or even a feugo, they gaslighted me into believing none of those reels even existed for a while. Finally they NEVER have any good sales, and only sales on their own products, where other places like fishUSA, and tw have 20% the entire store often.
  2. I would more often but it's annoying to resize or make an image low res and change formats the website is super annoying for uploading images, most images are 6mbs for minor variations in background and simple images like a picture of a reel against a black background, where images of trout in a creek in a net with trees in the background is 12-15mbs. I often feel it's not worth the hassle to upload images.
  3. How long could I go vs how long will I go are two different questions, if this household was a democracy let's say things would be a lot different, but threaten to not tie your older friends and family's knots and leaders and they elect you dictator quickly.
  4. Will be interested to see how it performs, never a bad thing to have more competition. The pricetag is steep, hopefully they dont westernize it to much with the 11 ballbearings and thank God they didn't dump the money in winn grip knobs and (hopefully) put the money into the actual internal design, spool breaking mechanism, and spool bearings. I have high hopes because in the description a pro didnt design it, usually that's almost always good thing for what i want. I really hope more product ideas from Japan migrate their way here, maybe we will get igfa line standards and gou that promote fair quality products... (Maybe I'm dreaming way to much)
  5. better line management, use less thin line, no need for braid backing. You can put .5 200 yards of .55 gou on a 2500 shallow reel and no need for uneven line Lay that is caused by backing. They have different models also, s is half the depth of normal usdm spool, ss is super shallow for lighter lines. Area trout rods are very parabolic, they are a completley different animal than stream trout rods, just a heads up And finally, NO, the usdm market does not offer it to my knowledge, the usdm fishing market I have come to hate more and more every day with a fiery passion of 1000 sun's, expecially everything pure fishing. They treat us consumers like morons and sell us 15bb reels with line that is grossly and criminally underrated, 2lb u.s line breaks at 4-8lbs depending on manufacturer. Finally why the hell do they have to put tuna grade gauge wire hooks on even open water baits, it's assinine. Finally Usdm sunline assassin and Seagaur invisix are like rubber bands and should be burned in a bonfire with gasoline for their shame of quality compared to sunlines jdm machineguncast nylon, ygk gsoul or varivas nylon. It's embarrassing that Japan's high end 10$ nylons are less stretchy than a 20$ spool of usdm florocarbon. Sorry for the Hijack and rant OP (P.S, if I had the money I'd burn most of my pure fishing equiptment and usdm lines in the bonfire with the usdm fishing line and replace it with better equiptment, because every time I look at it I'm in disgust with how poor its performance is)
  6. what would be your gameplan in this unusually cold march. Been thrown for a absolute loop because of the weather
  7. I like mono for everything bass fishing, except as mentioned above for frogs. Except izorline, it stretches like a absolute rubber band, expecially first string. it has a cultish following here on the west coast.
  8. Yeah I see, me and him coexisted also after the incident... coexisted across the lake from each other ? ?
  9. C looks like sleadheads, owner makes them good around grass, A looks like a ewg ned, B also looks like a wire gaurd ned rig, D almost looks like a wacky rig hook
  10. Went fishing yesterday at my favorite resavoir, was fishing the bank, and following a very common hiking trail roughly 3 feet across around the lake. As I was walking I heard the loudest rattling noise ever coming no more than a foot away from my legs, I immediately ran, partially because I was spooked and didn't know that rattlesnakes don't sound like the movies and are much much louder. I look back and am honestly shocked and thankful I didn't get bit, the thing was slithering back deeper into the undercut sagebrush bush it was under. It was only 55 degrees and pre frontal also, been very cold so I was surprised he was out. Once the snake had completley left my friend about 20 feet behind crossed the trail. Hopefully this is a PSA to all anglers in the southwest, be careful because they are clearly out this time of year I guess, expecially in the LA and SD area... and thank God he put rattles on those d**n things.
  11. I like a popper, just my 2 cents, I've used alot but really like splash-it, or yo zuris popper, the bigger ones seem to walk easier. I want to try a pop x even though they are pricey.
  12. Yeah some even fish on ladders there due to the shape on the bottom, never actually casted a line in myself tho
  13. Hey! Those some fighting words!
  14. Politics of the fishing world lol. I've had a person (someone that is local to socal)ignore me and cuss me out for saying bsf instead of bfs, even though I do enjoy bfs from time to time. Now they "perfer" spinning for some presentations that they before would only throw on bfs. Even though their opinions on spinning have changed, they still haven't changed their opinions about me. I pray for them at least once a week, I hope to some day meet them in real life and become friends, I don't think their online behavior represents their personality in the real world. These threads often seem to be used as probing tools for some to get a reaction, takes away from the OPs thread. And finally, I perfer diawa slightly more than lews, specifically because like bulldog said after market spools are much easier to obtain AND diawas parts seem to stay around alot longer, and when they are discontinued you can sometimes find jdm parts or oem compatible parts. (Plus I like the tatula colors)
  15. Yeah i do hear you on that one, from what I understand it comes historically from SW conventional fishing, they would need to use their dominant hand to wrench heavy fish in. And the conventional reel design of RH reel for RH people carried over to low profile bass reels, in comparison many people with spinning many people perfer lh reel for RH people and visa versa.
  16. Yeah sadly KK reels are like that, NY one crixus I have fished to a bloody pulp feels more geary than a zebco 33, but the one thing KK does really good is build a cheap reel with good features. I don't think you can find a 14g deep spool reel that isn't cdm for 40 bucks on their seasonal sales, and is pretty light. I own a krestel elite bfs, UT is also beco.ing more geary but the 5.9g spool is fun...
  17. Either way growing up southpaw though my father only had right handed conventional reels, as I started with spinning so I used right handed naturally, the biggest advantage I have found is not having to switch hands at all compared to my father and friends I see that have to switch hands every cast, expecially when pitching I can make 10 casts for every 6 of my friends casts. Also the biggest CON I have found is sense I hold the rod with my left hand and reel with my right, I struggled tremendously to use enough energy to jack a ewg into a fishes mouth, expecially as a teen, and fishing no jack jig hooks or frogs was even tougher, which is why I always perfer lighter wire hooks and lighter line systems compared to the macho man hook swinging mentality. When I first started I have had fish quite literally rip the rod into my hands and swim it into the shore but luckily got snagged on some flooded shrubs, dropping the rod on the Hooksett, or just not swing hard enough. I don't have these issues now, except occasionally on a heavy wire jig or frog. To put it bluntly, I am so glad I reel with my dominant hand but it is a double edged sword.
  18. Sunline armilo is amazing, just heads up it does run thin so adjust accordingly
  19. I hate rapalas because many of them don't run true out of the box, expecially at high speeds, but there is something special about them and they have an excellent tight wobble swim, floating ones are my favorite, but the price tag is not great considering the quality of the bills that break often.
  20. Just my experience also, but to add a different pov sense you will never get full strength out of braid before it digs in and potentially snaps, if you want to crank down your drag and reel the fish in, 50lb might dig into the spool and snap, and 65lb will be more manageable. I don't see this being an issue with bass, but just food for thought if you go for any larger sw game fish. Happened last year in SW, I think it was a ray or shark orsomething, but the 50lb braid when putting 30ish pounds of force on the fish with a penn international the braid dug in and cut at the spool even with the braid tightly wound.
  21. I store mine inside the house BECAUSE I believe line becomes weak when stored in high temperatures for long periods of time.
  22. Wow nice fish! Congratulations!
  23. @WRBhas made a splitshot rig with a texas rigged straight tail worm one of my go to's, love them, i use the cylinder shaped ones in rocks also
