  1. If you like the way the Alphas palms in your hand when fishing then you are gonna love the feel of the Steez. They are just a bit smaller than the Alphas. They feel great when you palm them. Those settings I recommended are just for starters until you get used to that beast. Before you know it, you'll have your mag-control set on 3 and you'll be pitching to brush 35-40 ft. in front of you.
  2. I prefer a faster gear ratio on my pitching reels for one reason, to get that fishes head turned as fast as possible and get him out of the thick stuff I mainly fish in. A faster ratio will help do this.
  3. Excellent choice for a pitching reel. I have the JDM version (103H) and I love mine. In my opinion, they fish very similar to the Alphas reels. (I also have four of these) You may notice you'll have to do some tweaking on the settings when you start pitching with it according to what size bait your using. They are very easy to backlash until you get used to them. Start out with your spool tightend up to eliminate any sideplay in the spool. Set your magnetic control at least on 7 and that will get you started in the right direction. You're gonna love that reel!!
  4. You and I sound about the same way. Have fun on your trip. Think of me when your jerkin' lips.
  5. I leave between 12-18 inches most of the time. Seems like I get less hangups when using closer to 12 inches. Maybe it's just me... :-/
  6. Good day on the water for sure. Take a camera and post a few pics next time for those of us still frozen. It gets us through winter. ;D
  7. Welcome Aboard!! 8-)

Yeah, but they sure do eat good though. I wish I had an Italian neighbor.

I'll bet that was it. I am almost positive that the ingredient started with a "C". I was thinking camphor but didn't want to put that because I figured it was wrong. Man, it was some hot stuff. I am not kidding, instant blisters!!!

Seems to be lots of Hot Sauce conossieurs on the forum...maybe you guys can help me out then. About two years ago the wife and I were in an actual shop that contained nothing but hot sauces. They had everything arranged from least hottest to instant blisters. The last one on the shelf was a small wooden crate probably four by four inches. Inside was a small bottle about three inches high that contained a medicine dropper. The guy showed us how hot this stuff really was. He put one drop in a small dish of salsa and stirred it up. There was a brave man standing there who proceeded to barely dip a chip in and take a bite. It immediatly took his breath and he started hyper-ventilating. My wife loves hot stuff and dipped a toothpick in the salsa and it left blisters on her tongue. I tasted the toothpick after she had already tasted it and it blistered my tongue. My question is, what in the hell was this stuff? Anyboby know? If it helps I think it cost around $35.00 for that small bottle and the liquid was clear.
  13. I've tried all kinds but still go back to the Terminator
  14. I'll change mine ever so often when I get bored with it. Here's what's on it now.
  15. Don't know if I could ever get used to seeing gators where I fish. Cool pics!! 8-)

Thanks for teaching me something new. I never realized there were freshwater flounder. Pretty chunky bass you're holding there. Stay after them!!
  17. Pretty cool gesture Scott.
  18. Figures, I probably bought over $100 worth on Saturday. :-[ EDIT: Make that $75, I only counted 11 cranks. I thought I bought 15.
  19. I kind of liked him too even though I didn't know him personally. He was another one of those no BS type of guys. Just straight forward advice.
  20. I honestly believe you couldn't fish them wrong if you tried to. They were my No. 1 confidence bait a few years ago. I think you could catch a fish out of a mudhole with one. I have fished them both ways, T-rigged and on a jig. Killer bulk for a slow falling finesse jig.
  21. I purchased a set of Bassart knobs off of Robert on Friday the 29th to make one of my Alphas 103's look like this... I come home today after work and check the mail and they were in there. That is insane, from California to West Virginia in three days. Robert, your a class act, thanks a lot. 8-)
  22. Lord Voldemort That's kind of disturbing...

I guess I'm a wimp. I love the taste of hot sauce but it absolutely turns me inside out when I eat it. :-[ There better be a bathroom on standby, that's all I'm gonna say...
