  1. Anywhere from 10-45 minutes. Sometimes more
  2. Which st croix rods are you comparing to Dobyns? 15-20 years ago the premiers and avids were great, I thought they were the best bass rods for the money until a few years ago when I bought a Dobyns fury. 6 furys later My st croixs sit in the corner collecting dust lol I can’t comment on the high end st croixs but if you compare a $100 st croix to a $100 Dobyns it is night and day IMO
  3. Is it rough to reel with no lure attached? My curado k gets a stiff feeling when I crank in something with a lot of resistance like a spinnerbait, but that is normal.
  4. I was a die hard st croix guy until I fished dobyns.
  5. I love my Dobyns fury 702. Great ned rig rod with some tip but also plenty of backbone for larger fish. This rod also works well for small swimbaits with a light ballhead jig.
  6. I always use at least a few wraps of mono as backing.
  7. My leaders are used for abrasion resistance against rocks as well as the action of certain baits. Some small slow moving bottom baits (example: ned rig) fall much more naturally with a monofilament leader rather than straight braid. Line visibility is the least of my concerns but if it eases your mind by all means use one or color your line with a sharpie.
  8. Gym has been closed for over ten days now, can’t wait to get back. I’m jealous of your home gym. Pushups, squats and my 15lb dumbbells will work for now
  9. I work in a hospital. No shortage of work here.
  10. My fury 703 and 704 can do almost everything
  11. interesting. On my daiwas I set the tension with just enough to eliminate side To side play but with the shimanos they seem more sensitive. I have to up the tension a bit more I love my curado k but could do without the dial. Wish they would go back to the old braking system with just the pins
  12. interesting I’ve noticed the opposite but I only fish the 1/2oz ones
  13. Not sure how it will have an effect on prices but there sure are a lot more people fishing.
  14. Could be overfilled spool, line on backwards, or both. I recommend a 6-8lb soft mono or braid to leader
  15. The same lures you use in lakes will work in a pond.
  16. I fish a curado k and fish 2 brakes all the time with the external dial set on 3-6 depending on bait and wind. Just today while out testing lures I had a hard wind straight in my face and I bumped the internal brakes up to 3. as far as spool tension the general rule of thumb is to tighten it all the way put your bait in freespool and then loosen until the bait slowly drops. I don’t do this. My bait falls fairly fast. If I have the tension set so the bait drops slowly you are losing some casting distance. Adjust accordingly to the lure and see what works for you. It is all trial and error
  17. Buy Dobyns fury rods for $100 and Daiwa fuego ct for $100 although they can be found for cheaper if you look around. Keep your baits and lure selection simple. Black/blues/ green pumpkin color for soft baits and light and dark color hardbaits. Spinnerbaits white is all you need. Line I suggest 12-15lb big game for general purpose and 40-50lb braid for frogs and heavy cover. 15lb braid for spinning reels. It’s worked for me the last 25 years. Good luck
  18. Yes I have a fury 795 with tranx 300. Fits good
  19. This. Don’t be afraid to not peg your weight.
