  1. Nothing sounds out of the ordinary with the reel. Like others said, you could be reeling over a backlash or you are reeling on top of loose line

Just checked these out. Have you tested them with a weight?

My berkley scale finally took a crap On me and am looking for a new scale. What are you guys using? I don’t want junk but I don’t need top of the line either
  4. Falcon original series used to make a spinning rod that was great for small cranks and jerkbaits. Was a true moderate action spinning rod
  5. Original floating rapala. Black/silver and black/gold. I don’t use this lure nearly as much as I used to, I guess because of all the other new fancy stuff that has been developed. This lure has caught me many bass over the years. You can fish it many different ways and it works year round
  6. Shorter leader? My leaders are generally 3-5’ when I run braid to leader.
  7. I throw the 1/4oz baby Manns minus 1 on my curado k but it is not my first choice especially if you’re throwing into the wind. The reel does not perform well for me throwing strike king 1.5s and rapala shadow rap jerkbait. Although I love my curado k for 1/2oz traps and spinnerbaits, I would personally look into a different reel especially if you plan on throwing a lot of 1/4oz cranks. Take a look at the Daiwa fuego CT. Very good reel and no twing
  8. Never used either but I don’t think you can go wrong with either one. The rage bug is a bulkier bait compared to the menace. I use Yamamoto twin tail grubs Or tiny paca chunks on my smaller profile jigs
  9. I use power pro and have never seen it that bad. Some fraying and fuzzy look is normal on all braids after using it. I’ve had some fraying right above my leader connection using 10-20lb power pro on my spinning outfits and all’s I would do it cut back a couple feet next time I retied. My guess it’s gotta be your level wind on your reel or a guide. I would check again. Shine a light on all your guides and inspect thoroughly. Sometimes running the qtip through the guide isn’t as effective as most people think.
  10. I agree with you. Any Daiwa casting reel I’ve ever fished can throw a lighter bait much easier than the curado k can
  11. I mainly flip and pitch with 50lb braid due to 90% of the lakes in my area are choked with milfoil lily pads and other invasive vegetation. In spring and early summer in my area before the grass comes up I highly recommend mono. I use 15lb big game. I just like the overall feel better. Experiment with both and see what you like.
  12. It’s not nearly as effective in my waters as it was 3-4 years ago.
  13. Can’t go wrong with an inline spinner like a mepps or rooster tail . Those things catch everything
  14. I just bought a 40 in morning dawn color. I’ve had the largest size for a few years, but don’t throw baits that large anymore so it sits in the closet
  15. I fish all year as long as my waters are ice free. But I’d say my season really gets going mid March-early April depending on the winter.
  16. I’ve had one for a few years now. although I don’t do much big bait fishing anymore, this rod is definitely underpowered for Huddleston trout swimbaits. Not sure if you intend on throwing them. The 806 swimbait rod is a much better option for those. I bought my 795 fury before the 806 was available in the fury line. As for the baits you listed the rod you bought will work fine.
  17. Happens everywhere unfortunately
  18. 10-15lb Power pro on my spinning reels.
  19. Yes keyword sometimes. Ironically most of my biggest fish have came on bluebird sky days
  20. Time on the water is key. Don’t over think things like color. Don’t be afraid to throw topwater in cold water, especially shallow lakes
  21. 5” Texas rigged
  22. Saltwater super spook!
