  1. Good luck with that! ? I bought one. Then two. Then three… They grow on ya! I have two Davies Fuegos, a Daiwa Tatula, two Abu Garcia Black Max’s and a H2OX Ethos. I really like the Tatula but I’d be happy with an arsenal of Fuegos. It’s a great reel for the price.
  2. It’s worth a try. Especially for dropshotting. It’s a strange thing that such an easy knot gives me fits.
  3. I really don’t like the Palomar knot. For some reason it gives me difficulty and I often get line under the gap of the hook eye.
  4. This is the correct response (sorry to poor MOFO’s, etc ?). If you don’t truly like it, sell it and get something you do like. Life is too short for cheap beer and reels you don’t like!
  5. “The most dangerous knife is a dull knife “.
  6. This post is Bait Monkey Approved!
  7. I have one like that with a shorter handle. I use bank fishing and also on my inflatable boat (which sits low in the water). But I will admit that the banks I fish I can easily stand at the water’s edge and reach fish easily.
  8. Yesterday I had Amaretto and Cointreau on the rocks with a squeezed lime wedge. I thought I made that up until I Googled it and found out it’s an Amaretto Sidecar. Only difference is instead of 0.75 oz of Cointreau to 2 ozs of Amaretto, mine is more like 1.5 ozs of Cointreau to 1 oz of Amaretto.
  9. lol. I had some of the words wrong but not bad for remembering a commercial from the 70s.
  10. Funny commercial with Muhammad Ali back in the day. “You just like it ‘cause your picture’s on the label!” ?
  11. Actually, I do bring a folding chair. I cannot stand for long periods due to a bad back. So I take breaks as needed.
  12. I normally bring 5 rigs: 3 baitcasters and two spinning. I lean the rods up against tree limbs. I also fish an area with at least three presentations (say a topwater, a jerkbait and a TR), and if no bites I’ll relo to a different spot. I always have a TR and a WR set up. The others depend on the day and conditions.
  13. Men. We do so hate going to see the doc until it’s 100% necessary. Prostate cancer is no joke, fellas. Get tested regularly. Just like your moms and wives get mammograms regularly.
  14. I’ll say this: any live bait in 2018 is likely dead and buried. But I have plastic worms from 1978 that are still good! ?
  15. It is an interesting theory. Even monkeys that were shown faces of a real monkey, a cartoon monkey and a 3-D CGI monkey displayed an indifference to the CGI face. A bass may be no monkey, but predators are pretty good at discerning prey.
  16. I read an article once a few years ago about humanoid robots. When robot models that were humanoid in shape and appearance (but didn’t truly look like real people- think C3P0), test subjects accepted them with little reservation. But the closer the models came to looking as close to anatomically correct humans as possible, test subjects rejected them. People could accept the “robot” robot as they knew it was not human, but the “human” robot was eerie. The eyes have no soul, etc. I would have no problem believe bass react similar to craws. If it has action like a craw, they likely will attack it. But if it looks like a real craw, it either A-does not have as realistic of an action; or B- it looks close but no cigar so it may turn bass away. I’ve been doing well lately with an X-Zone Adrenaline Craw. I would not say it looks like a live crawfish. But the bass seem to think so.
  17. Well, I’ve fished with this Kistler/Fuego rig a few times, and I have to say I’m still very impressed. I caught 4 bass yesterday- one on a Fat IKA and three on an X-Zone Adrenaline Craw. The first and last bass hit the bait so delicately I barely felt it (saw zero line movement). I’m confident those bass would either have been missed, or even worse, gut hooked, as I would not have felt anything significant, had I been using one of my other rods. I’m pleased as punch with this rod. It’s a joy to fish!
  18. Not a great day, but not bad. On the water at daybreak. Air temp was 59°. Not sure what the water temp was, but it was definitely warmer than that. Other than the first bass on a Fat IKA, the other three were all on a X-Zone Adrenaline Craw. Which I will add had only one claw lol. All about 2 lbs or so. The second one I thought was bigger. It was a real scrapper! IMHO, I think I would not have caught the first and last bass had I not been using my new Kistler Helium. They barely bit the bait but I felt it and set the hook. I’m really glad I bought it!
  19. It has nice cork for that price. Way better than my Dobyns Fury. Maybe even a bit more than my Kistler Helium (but the Helium is definitely more sensitive). It’s really a nice, all-around rod.
  20. I use a Lefty Kreh leader knot. Only one knot failure and I know that one was solely on me.
  21. I do have an All ‘Round Fast 7’ MHF. It’s a great rod for soft plastics.
  22. Bait Monkey doin’ a dance this morning’!
  23. I’d replace the reel and then go catch and weigh it.
  24. They look at you like you owe them money
  25. One of my favorite baits. As well as the Fat IKA. Which means, of course, I’ll be trying these lol.
