The Adrenaline Craw is becoming a go-to. Haven’t done great wacky rigging the True Center Sticks but have caught a few on a weightless Texas rig. But I haven’t fished in over two weeks due to all this blasted rain!!! (apologies to anyone in a drought).
  2. It’s why I rarely rig a drop shot in the ponds I fish. Drop shot and mucky ponds don’t play well together.
  3. Nice! Great pic, too!
  4. I tried braid-to-leader for wacky rigs and did not like it. I use 6 lb Berkley XL or 8 lb YZH on a 1/0 circle octopus hook. Semi-slack is key. Sometimes they hit and run hard (easy to detect). Sometimes they don’t, which on a completely slack line is hard to detect visually. Semi-slack you’ll see the twitch. Raise the rod and reel it in and the hook sets.
  5. Moving from Maryland to Texas (worked in Philly but MD has tons of shops that make cheesesteaks) was tough on that score. A great cheesesteak is, well, great. They are hard to make well at home as it’s hard to really chop the steak up fine, cover with cheese and lay the roll on top and pick it all up with a big spatula. And the roll makes the cheesesteak. No Amoroso’s here! ?
  6. Both are stocked with Zoom baits.
  7. Big single hooks, I want a MH in a baitcaster. A good M in a spinning rig can work, too. Then again, I decent hooksets with my Bass X ML/XF and 3/0 EWG’s with Zoom Tricks. But that’s an easy bait to drive the hook through.
  8. That’s way better. If you have access to a vise, you could probably get it back to 99%. But that’ll fish!
  9. I just bought a Tatula 100H, so I’ll see lol.
  10. First thing I’d do is remove it from the reel and remove the handles. Take two Channelocks or Vice Grips and wrap the jaws in masking tape to prevent gouges and scratches, and grasp each end and straighten them out. Just use consistent force and bend them back straight slowly.
  11. It’s extremely simple to adjust and it casts like a dream.
  12. That’s a man. I read his story before. Unreal. He deserves th MOH without a doubt. I’ve only met one MOH recipient in my life. Hiroshi Miyamura. The first Top Secret MOH recipient as he was captured and a POW at the time and it was feared he would be executed. He was not a big, hulking man. He looked rather docile. Needless to say, looks are deceiving. To say I was humbled in his presence is an understatement. “Cpl. Miyamura, a member of Company H, distinguished himself by conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity above and beyond the call of duty in action against the enemy. On the night of 24 April, Company H was occupying a defensive position when the enemy fanatically attacked threatening to overrun the position. Cpl. Miyamura, a machinegun squad leader, aware of the imminent danger to his men unhesitatingly jumped from his shelter wielding his bayonet in close hand-to-hand combat killing approximately 10 of the enemy. Returning to his position, he administered first aid to the wounded and directed their evacuation. As another savage assault hit the line, he manned his machinegun and delivered withering fire until his ammunition was expended. He ordered the squad to withdraw while he stayed behind to render the gun inoperative. He then bayoneted his way through infiltrated enemy soldiers to a second gun emplacement and assisted in its operation. When the intensity of the attack necessitated the withdrawal of the company Cpl. Miyamura ordered his men to fall back while he remained to cover their movement. He killed more than 50 of the enemy before his ammunition was depleted and he was severely wounded. He maintained his magnificent stand despite his painful wounds, continuing to repel the attack until his position was overrun. When last seen he was fighting ferociously against an overwhelming number of enemy soldiers. Cpl. Miyamura's indomitable heroism and consummate devotion to duty reflect the utmost glory on himself and uphold the illustrious traditions on the military service.”
  13. I used (used) to use Photobucket. Now I download my pics to Imgur (hidden, not public) and insert the link via the Other Media below. Simple and no resizing issues.
  14. I lived 98% of my life in Maryland within spitting distance of the Chesapeake. Caught many white perch, blues, croakers, sea trout, flounder and other fish in the Bay and the Atlantic, but have never caught a striper (aka rockfish in MD). Kinda sad. Fished a lot of reservoirs in MD as well, and caught plenty of bluegills, pumpkinseeds, black and white crappie, yellow perch, channel cats and bullheads, some stocked rainbows, but never a pickerel, pike or musky. Always wanted to catch a big pike.
  15. Looks like you could lift an engine block with that thing! I caught some some small sand sharks in Maryland many years ago, but no big boys like makos, bulls or threshers. That’s a whole ‘nother animal. 2400 yards of braid. Wow. Need a 2nd mortgage for that! ?
  16. That’s a great bass! Congrats!
  17. I do not relish the thought of no Zoom Tricks!
  18. The two by me (The Woodlands and Humble) in Texas are also well-stocked. Baits, tackle, rods, reels, etc. Probably two well. And BM knows this!
  19. I’ll give that a try.
  20. I haven’t had any success on the drop shot in the ponds I fish. But I may try again. What hook do you recommend?
  21. My TW order arrived today. I opened the box and lo and behold, the two packs of 5” #956 Senkos I ordered lost an inch. Knowing I was not at fault, I pulled up my TW receipt. Let’s just say I wasn’t wrong, but a little weak on being right lol. So, as it’s my error, I’ll make the best of it. I normally fish the 5” as either a wacky rig with a 1/0 circle octopus hook, or a weightless Texas rig with a 3/0 EWG. How do the 4” Senkos perform rigged like that or do I need different hooks for the weightless TR’s? I believe the WR hooks are fine, but not sure what action is gained/lost being an inch shorter.
  22. Coal is on its way out. Worst of the fossil fuels. Regardless, it should (should) be more effective to control emissions at the source at power plants vs millions of motor vehicles.
  23. I’m holding out for Mr. Fusion and the flux capacitor!
  24. I wonder how many truly missed clods of horse manure on city streets? Years from now, internal combustion engines will be museum pieces. It only has a big affect on us as it's all we've known and used our entire lives. But it is the future without a doubt.
  25. ^^^^This I can think of two things. One, if your pond is that clear, if you're too close to the fish, they may see you and become spooky. Try to stay back and cast to the fish you know are there but can't see. Two, if they constantly swim up to the bait, check it out but don't bite, they sound like they're feeding well. You may need to fish baits that will trigger reaction strikes. A sinking wacky rig will do that. Try a Neko Macho as well. Either Neko rigged, or as a weightless Texas rig with a 3/0 EWG. I seem to get a lot of reaction strikes with that.
