After 15 years....I'm starting to fish again
I have a St. Croix Bass-X ML/XF rod. It’s paired with a Daiwa Revros LT2000 reel. It’s my main rig for Senko wacky rigs.

Most consistent color
With a Senko it’s #956 watermelon with copper flake/orange with red flake. hands-down. #297 green pumpkin w/black flake is a distant second.

Opinion? 20lb braid mainline overkill? Spinning setup
I have 20lb Sufix 832 on my Revros LT2500. No issues whatsoever.

Portable boats
As it comes with the inflatable seat it would easily fit. Even the wood floor would likely fit. Not sure about the seat mod.

Portable boats
I can take credit for doing the mod, but got it from someone on YT. So, truth be told, the supplied rod holders are great for holding rods while getting from A to B, but out in front they are in the way when fishing. But I can hold two rods in the rear holders, and can slide two rods along each side of the seat hanging over the stern, so I can actually bring 5 rods if I wish (normally bring 4 but have brought 5 once or twice). The one main pond I fish has one landscaped side that all the bank anglers fish, and an overgrown side that’s maybe 5% accessible through holes between branches. I can’t use a BC there, only spinning tackle. But I can fish 100% of it from that boat, and all those overhanging branches are great bass spots that I can easily skip Senkos and Tricks under. I have a pickup, so I keep it inflated and just slide it in and out of the bed. Takes me seconds to get from the truck onto the water. The two storage compartments hold two Plano boxes each, plus a scale, hook remover, fish gripper, towels, phones, etc, and the rear pouch holds a bottle of water. It will float in 6” of water so it gets everywhere. I would not take it on huge bodies of water or moving water (unless I launched it and picked it up downstream), but for ponds and small reservoirs or lakes, it’s great.

Portable boats
Get a Sea Eagle Packfish7. It’s an inflatable boat. Takes about 5 minutes to inflate with the included foot pump. Comes with a pack you can carry on your back. This is how it looks as supplied. I purchased the upgraded version that includes the wood floor for stability. It has an inflatable seat that is pretty comfortable, but you sit low. I modified mine. I added a 7” pedestal with a swivel and and a foldable seat, and used a plank (actually a wood cutting board) and some brackets to install two additional rod holders, so it can hold four rods. With the elevated seat, it’s better to use a yak paddle than the supplied oars. It’s slower than a yak. And if it’s windy, you will need an anchor (I have a 8 lb mushroom anchor on 12’ of rope). But it’s easily transported and stored and gets me out on the water for $. It was on special for $399.99 when I bought it in 2020.

Your very first baitcaster
Like one of these fine reel?

Lefty
I have left and right baitcasters and fish equally well with both. Except casting. Can’t cast worth a darn lefty.

Megabass Popmax
Currently a Daiwa Aird-X 6’ 6” M/F baitcasting rod. I only have one so can’t say I have a favorite color. I think it’s Gill.

Almost new PB and a kicker
If you’re only going to catch a few, those two will do!

Line for first baitcaster
I’ve been using 10 lb Big Game or 12 lb YZH on my baitcasters. I don’t punch or fish heavy cover. Once I run out of YZH I’ll likely use Big Game only. It’s brutally strong (even the 10 lb), ties great knots and is cheap enough that changing line costs next to nothing.

Your very first baitcaster
Mine was/is a Daiwa Millionaire 3H. My friend and I were big into fishing as teens in the mid-70s. Used to read all the outdoor magazines and decided we needed baitcasters like the pros lol. He got the 6H and I got the 3H. Still have it! I’d say more of a hard plastic. At least on my 3H. Has a fancy spool tension knob. The brake is the opposable digit on your hand lol.

Cancelled the Daiwa Fuego 2500. I need a good lightweight spinning reel for the victory 610MLXF
A few months or so ago I bought a St. Croix Bass X BSX610MLXF rod paired with a Daiwa Revros LT2000 reel. I freely admit that I do not fish the drop shot much. I use it mainly for wacky rigs but have also used it with a 3/0 round offset hook for weightless TR with Zoom Tricks. Wacky rigs hook themselves but I’ve gotten great hooksets with the Zoom Tricks. Same length, same power, same action. But it must be a little less flexible at the tip than your Victory. No wonder it can be a crapshoot buying a new rod.

What is the main issue? Flexing too much at the tip, giving the bass the chance to throw the hook? If not for dropshot, what other presentation would you think that rod is suited for?

Does a squarebill/lipless combo rod exist?
It rained its patoot off here yesterday and the ponds are overflowing. Might be a while before I find out. ?

Does a squarebill/lipless combo rod exist?
I’ll let you know, as I just bought one and haven’t had the chance to try it yet. Paired it with a Daiwa Tatula 100H.

What advantage(s) does a spinning rod have over a bc rod?
At least to me, if bank fishing in areas with a lot of growth overhanging the water and close to either side of me, it’s a lot easier to snap cast a spinning rig and not blow a cast and get a nasty bird’s nest. Others may fare better, but not me!

do you have a Nemesis body of water? one you kinda "hate"?
Lake Menderchuck. AKA “Lake Envious”. ?

Palomar knot troubleshooting
Palomars always seem to want to catch under the end of the hook eye if you’re not careful, which can nick the line and weaken it. But this sounds more like the line needs replacing.

2 shot club
My wife and I, as well as my oldest daughter, got our 2nd Moderna today. Hopefully we’re good.

Two wasn't enough!
Ugh. It’s pouring here in Conroe, TX and my pool is about to crest, but so far we’re dry. I hope you don’t suffer any damage.

Public Service Announcement. Be smart when moving kayak.
I fractured two transverse processes in my lower back in a fall several years ago. I could be in a wheelchair or a cremation urn, so I try not to complain a lot about back pain. But it does limit my activity and I’m careful when I lift or bend.

Confessions of a righty who prefers jerkin' lefty
I am reel interested in this topic! Seriously, I learned quickly that I can reel a BC equally well left or right, and can work a bait (jerkbait, Texas rig) equally well left or right as well. Casting? That’s another story. I couldn’t cast a baitcaster left-handed if my life depended on it.
