  1. Heck if you throw a giant swimbait, you can even see one without having to actually risk hooking it! If one bites it, just snip your line. Fish is happy, you didn't lose because you never actually tried to catch it, and bait monkey is dancing all around you.
  2. The only thing 8:00 is too late for is coffee. I used to be a huge early bird, and getting that way again, but I don't care what time it is when I go fish; it's just whenever I have time. Sure I like the morning bite, but I don't think that's reason to fish a worse place just because it's open earlier. I'm looking at rushing to go bank fish at 2:00 today actually
  3. It's only a matter of time until you stick another one of those giants, man. ?. Keep it nice and easy in your head. Easy for me to say, I didn't have a DD jump off on me. But it'll be just fine, they just wanted to let you know they're hungry.
  4. I fish em! Just not enough. I picked up some zoom magnum finesse worms on sale though and I am mighty excited to try those. Think I can get em on both a shaky and that weird weedless Ned rig, possibly wacky/Neko too. Gotta check my equipment
  5. All the time I tell myself I need to fish plastic worms more and it never happens. This ends now!
  6. Yeah I was kinda wondering the same thing looking at the price. Seems kinda ridiculous. Catt told you straight on your post about the compact colorados. You got some humdingers right?
  7. I still kind of have a hard time with lipless crankbaits. Sometimes they work for me, sometimes they don't. Hoping I can figure them out more. At one point I was a very confident jig fisherman. It was all I fished on one reservoir. Kind of need to get back in the swing of it. I did best when I removed a lot of the skirt strands and just hopped em along. I fish this pressured reservoir a lot and jigs work better than texas rigs there. I think it's because less people fish jigs there.
  8. That's an awesome post full of very useful information. Thank you A-Jay! I ain't even OP and I think that's an awesome reply
  9. I'd switch the reel you have on 1/2 to 3/4 jigs for the one you have on spinnerbait. And then i'd switch the 1/4-3/8 oz jigs reel for the small crankbaits reel. Just for slower gear ratio on moving baits. I cannot stand a fast gear ratio for spinnerbaits, but I've posted that quite a bit on here already. Interested to see what others have to say
  10. Chatterbaits work in open water? What the heck. Maybe bait monkey is right. Maybe I need these things.
  11. Hey ya'll, Are there any modifications you make to the blade of a chatterbait or the way it runs that you've found helpful?
  12. Few more shad raps because I've been abusing them. The trout rather like them. And two colors of yo zuri's one knocker lipless to add to the collection since I liked the red one I already have so much. Second and third photo's are the green silver color from the bottom and top and the fourth and fifth photos are the ghost bluegill color bottom and top. About what they looked like on tackle warehouse but I really like the look of that ghost bluegill color. And Yo Zuri must have heard complaints about small hooks they use to use on these baits because these crankbaits came with some beefy hooks! I don't think I'll even change them. Nice.
  13. You just offered suggestions for $600 rods in response to a query about rods priced at $100 and $150. Imma need to see like some human hands to prove you ain’t the bait monkey ?
  14. Finished the video. Second half was pretty good. He did Nichols justice in that video! He is 100% right that those silvery metal flake Nichols are awesome in cloudy conditions and clear water. My favorite blade is a #4 silver flash metal flake Nichols colorado. That blade is so good in the conditions he is talking about. Trailer hook was interesting even though I don't hardly use them. Him talking tilt was interesting. This one is worth watching!
  15. Fair enough. I thought compact and short arm was same same. Alright. And yeah I did start watching the tactical video last night and some of it was interesting. Also can’t believe I’m saying that. Going to finish the rest while eating breakfast. If there’s a YouTube video on spinnerbaits that looks alright, Im watching it. I don’t care who it is.
  16. Like me with a spinnerbait. Even this year sitting on 2/3 of my bass so far caught on them. I’m keeping track of numbers I catch this year
  17. Double or single colorado? Also man…. You can cut the wire on any spinnerbait shorter. Wire cutters and BAM. Compact spinnerbait
  18. I ain’t wild about billed crankbaits right now. You aren’t alone. Great lures… heck more classics have been won on plugs than any other lure. Just haven’t found myself wanting to dedicate a lot to learning to fish them yet, but the waters I fish in NY are not conducive to crankbait fishing, I think. Either ponds with lily pads (dead right now) or lakes full of grass.
  19. Me either. As you can tell by my profile pic ?. I was thinking as OP described his lake that I would be looking for other waters to fish. Not to say that this isn't a good lake. I'm just not good at fishing waters like this so don't have a lot to offer.
  20. I like these a lot. Figured I'd update this thread since I've fished with one a good bit for a while and ordered a couple more in different colors. Their vibration is not as pronounced as a red eye but more pronounced than a rattle trap. Can't say whether they wobble on the fall but they do not roll over. Hooks are very small out of the package so I prefer to change them - not uncommon for a lipless. The one knocker sound is a little higher pitched than I expected but still a cool little thudding rattle. I really like them, however, because they pull out of grass very well and run straighter than a red eye. Really straight. Good price. Anyways, me and bait monkey approve ?
  21. That is freaking awesome
  22. It's pouring rain right now and ya'll are making me wanna fish! Let me at em coach!!
  23. Well this is really cool. I know an area on a lake around here that has some algae. I kinda avoided the area because I thought it was bad for fishing. I'll see if I can get a photo of the algae when i go there next time
