Some more stuff on slow rolling SBs
Hey ya'll, I've been experimenting more with slow rolling spinnerbaits and learning more about how to effectively use this technique. Couple nights ago I was using a 3/4 oz spinner with a single colorado blade. Couldn't tell you the size of the blade but it is not terribly big. Maybe a 4.5-5. I have noticed that my sensitivity decreases to the point where i cant feel the blades turning on long casts until i get the sb closer to me. Once it is closer/shallower, I will feel the spinner. Just have a few questions that I unfortunately think may have complex answers because these are complex baits. 1. What can I do to increase sensitivity deep/far out but still maintain bottom contact? 2. Ive noticed a speed that lets the blade just barely turn when it is close and i can feel it. at that same speed deep, is the spinner still behaving the same (blade barely turning)? 3. Any other tips for slow rolling Thanks!

What is cool about hard baits
Hey ya’ll, This’ll be a sorta just dump my thoughts onto the page. A lot of the tackle I own is plastics. My grandpa who I wished I had fished with more when I was younger told me one time that he much prefers hard baits over plastics. He has boxes of lures that look like they’ve been through absolute hell. Same with another older gentlemen who I talk with frequently now who used to fish semi-professionally. I think that is really cool. When you can pull out lures that have caught literally hundreds of fish and can tell stories about. A lure like that has stories about it and you can see it etched in with all the teeth marks and scratches. All this to say, from both a monetary standpoint and a sentimental standpoint, I wished I started using hard baits more often sooner. Fortunately, my two focus baits for 2021, the spinnerbait and the lipless crankbait, are both hard lures. I hope to have lures someday that I can show my grandchildren to help get them hooked on fishing. Alright that’s it. Do ya’ll have lures that you have stories about? If so, please share!

Vote For The Top 25 Bass Fisheries In The World!
No love for Shearon Harris in NC? Badin has my heart but by no means a top bass fishery that should be on this list, imo.

Swimming worm
Zoom UV! All day! Love that worm. I have used it and got bit a several different ways. For what I think you are talking about, I would buzz the worm on the surface or just swim it quick under the surface. I have caught fish with it as a swim jig trailer too. In my opinion it creates a very natural swimming action. If you are buzzing, make sure cut part of the tail faces down. Better action that way.

I'll Pick Overcast
Always done better on cloudy days. Funny, my PB was caught when unexpected clouds rolled in and the wind changed direction so that it was blowing into the cove I was in. All of a sudden baitfish started to show up everywhere in the cove. It was just one of those moments when the stars aligned. Changing conditions seem to be important as well as static conditions.

Trying FC Again!
For you fluoro fans, what makes fluoro worth it to you? Or Dens, what convinced you to try it again? Going to keep my own opinion out of this and just listen.

What is the best rig for cat fishing?
I am by no means a catfishing expert, but I can tell you what worked for me last summer. Look up slip sinker rig and santee cooper rig. I used those with nightcrawlers and bluegill on circle hooks. Had luck night fishing in the summer around july and august. Thats what worked for me, but I would like to hear what others have to say and would recommend researching on forums and websites more dedicated to catfishing. Bass fishing is an addiction. Edit: This was bank fishing. I used vertical rod stakes that you can push into the ground to hold your rod upright and used cowbells attached to rod to let me know when i had a bite in dark. Catfishing is definitely not only a nighttime activity. Its just how i fished more in the summer :).

Replacing hook on H&H spinners
Was asking about replacing hooks because i didn't like the way the double hooks snagged. I do think the swinging is a big reason that the hook snags though, regardless of single or double. Just trying to make it a more snagless lure. I keep a sharpener with me always and check hooks frequently.

Spring Muddy water finesse baits?
Yes. I do think every body of water is different, but I think that bodies of water that are consistently muddy in some ways shouldn't be treated the same as waters that are muddy that are normally clear. If the fish aren't used to the low visibility, then some help given to the fish to locate your bait can be useful. But if they are used to the low visibility, I think they need less help than we give them credit for. At the home pond in my profile photo, i do the best with natural colors and presentations.

Replacing hook on H&H spinners
I was not familiar with open eye siwash hooks but that looks like it might work. Thanks much.

Smaller Colorado spinnerbaits
I would add only one thing to this. I would buy direct off Nichols. Far more options off their website and option to create a custom spinnerbait. There are 1/4 oz single Colorado’s available in metal flake colors.

Replacing hook on H&H spinners
Hey ya’ll, I have some H&H’s. like em a lot. One problem: I just really don’t like that hook. Doubled the way it is I seem to get it hung up in a whole lot more places. Do any of ya’ll replace that and if so, what do you replace it with?

Fishing Rod for slow rolling big spinnerbaits
You are not raining on my parade at all. You are helping. My knowledge of rods and reels is pretty rudimentary. Thanks for your suggestions!

Fishing Rod for slow rolling big spinnerbaits
Hey ya'll, title says all. For a future purchase, looking for a rod with about a heavy action and moderate tip suited well for throwing big spinnerbaits (1oz and greater) deep. For reel I am looking at 5:0:1 shimano curado 200K. If anyone thinks this is a bad idea, please chime in about that as well. Thanks!

Spinnerbait Blade Packages Recommendations
Oh my lord that is a rabbit hole. I sternly told the bait monkey that for 2021 I am only focusing on a couple of baits. Evidently he was not deterred by this.

Spinnerbait Blade Packages Recommendations
Hey ya’ll, hope you’re doing well. Thanks again to everyone who has helped me on here. I was wondering if ya’ll had recommendations on sites/companies to get quality spinnerbait blades. I see hildebrandt has a good variety on TW, but looking for other varieties of blades. Like hammered or painted, you name it. I do not use spinnerbaits with light wire right now, so I don’t think blade material is an issue. Can go for more durable materials that are heavier and create more thump. Thanks!

Technique Overload
Being a newish angler of maybe 5 years, I’d like to offer my opinion on this. I do wish that I had honed in on a few techniques/lures early. I bought a bunch of different styles of lures trying to match every situation with the lure I was using. Generally, I was confused. The nice thing about exploring was that I got to figure out which techniques I liked and didn’t like, though. My advice for any newer anglers on here is to not get caught up in the latest lure or technique craze. If you are learning, focus on techniques and lures that have worked for a very long time. Build confidence off of those. Exploring can help, but understand why you think that technique and lure is good for your area before purchasing anything.

Black trick worms
Black is straight nasty on a trick worm. I had very very good luck with it around pads, shade, and other shallow structure during the postspawn last year. Nothing big, but it caught me a ton of fish. Green pumpkin green flake worked really good too. Black works in all water clarities. Fish have told me this.
