  1. If it could stop storming in Central TX
  2. I use a lot of spinnerbaits but Stanley has been one of my select choices. I know an old-timer who spoke highly of Lonnie and he let me know when Lonnie passed. I was sorry to hear he passed away, so much beyond just losing the company, now, years later.
  3. Owner twistlock light hooks are what I use for weightless 5” senkos and they get em good. I do often get more bites while using that hook on a senko compared to other hooks.
  4. Looks about right! lol! I dont really care to know how well they did but I do try and pay attention to how people are catching them to see if it aligns with what I am good at/want to learn.
  5. I think @22RangerZ520R may be able to help
  6. @thediscochef you’re good brother. We understand some days are just tough out there. Certainly I do. Nobody’s laughing at you. We just can’t wait for the “wild card” to reappear and another 7lber+ to pop up on the end of your rod.
  7. Traitor 🥸. I’m telling Terry
  8. So we don’t care about rate of fall at all? Just always go heavier in deeper water? I was in NY for four years and in my experience the bass up where I was ran significantly more aggressive than their Southern counterparts. Think about it. A bass up North is chased for fewer months and also has a shorter warm water period.
  9. Wow! Feeling freaky today? What a surprise answer. Definitely didn’t see that one coming, whew. 😄
  10. @Fishingmickey @Bluebasser86 gosh dangit I keep telling myself I need to get out to Lake Brownwood ASAP. Stillhouse is good too, don’t get me wrong. I’ll still be fishing there lots. But I wanted a backup lake, so to speak.
  11. Jig has the best year-round, universal appeal across various bodies of water IMO. Texas rig is close, but the jig outshines it so much in cold water that the t-rig falls behind. No. Why would it?
  12. @Fishingmickey good grief what a bass!! Congrats!! Just saw this. Since posting my estimate, I did actually set my goal for a DD this year so that’s the train we are on currently.
  13. Stillhouse record stands at 13lbs even. Light for TX. That being said, the lake seems to turn out numbers of 8-10lbers every year. It’s worth mentioning that I am still pretty new to TX.
  14. @Fishingmickey it is actually fishing good right now for those that have figured out how to work with the high water. It is just not fishing like I would expect a lake that is flooded to fish. But those that have figured it out are doing spectacular. There was a Tuesday nighter recently where the winners won using deep cranks and Carolina rigs. Not exactly what you would expect to dominate a lake that is overflowing.
  15. Brought @thediscochef off bank ✅ Fished Stillhouse ✅ Hooked a bass ✅ Hooked an 8lber ✅ Caught the 8lber ❌ Still had a good time ✅ I brought @thediscochef out to fish on Stillhouse for the second installment of the Shad Disco. I really enjoy fishing with @thediscochef and we hope to go again soon. We did not catch a bass, but the lake was gorgeous and we had a good time nonetheless. Here’s more or less what happened. We were not able to launch where we planned due to ramp closures and debated whether to even attempt to launch because of the stiffer winds at our new ramp. Eventually I tested out the spare kayak in the wind and determined it was safe for disco to be out there. So we launched into a cove and tried topwater, jigs and worms, and various mid column baits in wind protected areas. Once the wind was manageable, we ventured out and continually tried different types of structure to figure out what these fish wanted to be on. Eventually, we reached an intersection of a creek arm and the main river channel where the river channel formed a channel swing. I told @thediscochef that we needed to fish there because despite the high water, that type of area - especially with timber present - is textbook Stillhouse fishing last year. So we move around on this intersection and I note one particularly large section of timber out there. I roll cast a 1/4oz Siebert Dock Rocker jig out there with rage lobster trailer and it just stops. It feels like it ran into something. Just when I start thinking I’m hung up, I realize it’s a pressure bite. It felt like the timber was ever so slowly moving away. I set hook into this fish and it immediately darts out towards deep water away from the timber and jumps. I holler to Disco that’s it’s a real biggun. He sees it. I have it close to the boat. It gets within arms reach of me, then thrashes and jumps next to the boat and comes off. That one hurt a bunch. I haven’t lost a fish like that before. Biggest fish I’ve hooked in TX. I’m calling it all of 8lbs. Mouth was a gaping bucket and shaped like a football. We didn’t hook another bass the rest of the day. Again, it was a great day nonetheless and the lake was beautiful. Ol Disco out in the kayak:
  16. Hello there They are here Only complaint is the packaging. Tails are bent out of the bags. Nothing I can’t fix with some boiling water. They did send some complementary bait glue which is much appreciated. Once again, these are 8” 3:16 mission fish swimbaits in the following colors: Hitch, Dark Hitch, Clear Lake Ghost. I will say that Hitch and Dark Hitch are so close in color when I see them in person that I consider having both redundant.
  17. Wally World or Academy. Never had an issue
  18. Find a nice group Drop a nice jigging spoon down on them You may find your answer
  19. If I spray a white spinnerbait with Prada Luna Rossa Black, will the fish think it is black?
  20. I know a thing or two about tires in lakes
  21. Still 4-5ft visibility up by the marina where we will be fishing 👍🏻. 4-5ft visibility is dirty for that area of Stillhouse
  22. Yeah, and my lake is flooded. Bass are either in the bushes or suspended. That could be the deal, right there. I don’t know if I’m comfortable including it in my DD hunt rotation, but rumor has it that disco and I are fishing together soon and of course it will be just “fun fishing”
