Curly tail worms anyone ?
While I am unconvinced that it makes a difference, the weight and bead pair form a ‘Brass N Glass’ combination. TopBrass sells these. A painted brass weight and glass bead are supposed to click together simulating the noise a crawdad might make. I bought these weights years ago and still use them, but only because they are the most accessible ones I have in 3/16 and 1/4oz.

How did you find your “spots”
It's a little bit of everything. That said, I use my electronics (sidescan, downscan, 2D, mapping) heavily. I'm a younger guy than many of you. I grew up around tech and feel very comfortable interpreting a screen. Others are correct; unfortunately, today, if you find something 'classic' offshore, there's a high chance everyone and their mother knows about it.

What casting rod to get next
Unless stated on another thread, you did not state either of those things here. Think about what baits you currently own perform the worst with your current baitcaster, whether that is through poor hookup/land ratio or poor castability. Research on here what rods people recommend for those baits. Start to develop an idea of what kind of rod might be good for multiple different baits that need 'help'. The closest answer I can give you that matches with what you want is to recommend you buy a rod that is MH, moderate or MH, moderate fast. Remember, the rod, line, drag, bait, and hook all form a system. There are multiple 'right' answers that people may recommend for the same bait. You need to think about how much 'give' you need for a particular bait, and where it is coming from. From the stretch of mono or fluoro? From your rod's action? From a looser drag? Is your rod appropriate for casting the lure weights you want? Do you want a longer rod for more casting distance and control over a fish? Do you want a shorter rod for accuracy, less weight, and maneuverability?

What casting rod to get next
So you want a rod that will be good for chatterbaits and crankbaits? There is no “correct” rod to get next… it is based on what you need/want to use it for.

Curly tail worms anyone ?
So they wound up working for you?

Buzz Bait Favorite??
Take a look at the components. He has a three way swivel hung around the two hooks with the third leg holding a spring system. Probably something like an owner cps spring. Teckel sells the legs separately on tackle warehouse.

Curly tail worms anyone ?
I absolutely still love ribbontail worms While I like and use many, the sneakiest ribbontail worm in a size that will get larger bass to commit is the zoom mag 2. The mag 2 is a very thin worm measuring 9.5” long. Whats sets it apart? Since it is thin, you can use this worm with a small hook and light line, if you wish. I have used this worm for years and I find that it works well in every body of water I fish. Catches fish like this dandy:

I feel I don’t understand the tournament scene very much at all, because I would never even consider tossing a big Ned rig, much less a regular ned rig. @Bluebasser86 you are in another league, man

I feel ya @T-Billy It wont dip much below 15mph winds here for the next several days with some storms expected. Stinks because I really want to get back out there. Anywhere over 17mph daytime or 13mph night is a no-go for me. The hobie is a beast kayak but at some point it ain't worth it.

I didn’t catch crap, lol. There was a tournament on the lake and I was hearing guys complain constantly though so maybe it’s not just me. I did have one bite in 20ft but felt like it was hooked funny. As soon as the fish jumped the bait came back towards me. I was DD hunting though so I ain’t stressing about not catching. I did, however, snap a very pretty shot of the moonlight in the dark. Very pleasant fishing conditions once the sun went down.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
I forgot that I had placed an order for some Zorro spinnerbaits as well. I would just like to give Zorro a quick shout-out on here. It’s definitely not uncommon for me to order direct from the company rather than off tacklewarehouse because I get more selection, especially with Zorro. So this was a direct from Zorro deal. I don’t know if the company has deliberately improved their quality control, but the spinnerbaits I received were in absolutely perfect condition. Still stock with sampo swivels, super sharp hooks, good blades, no blemishes to speak of.

@ol'crickety I kayaked in a regular kayak for years, felt that. I still do when I visit in NC. Big thunderstorm here in TX this past Saturday. Will have had time to stabilize by the time I hit the water tomorrow. It will be my third fishing trip of the year. I have the whole day off 😎

Show Off Your Work!
I forgot that I still had some Bango Blade blank frames and living rubber lying around. Made three of these as a larger bait to fish higher in the water column. The blades and components are from my personal stash. I use old braid for thread and I dont Care to make it super pretty.

Light Switch Riddle
You are in a room with three light switches. They control three light bulbs in an adjacent room. All the bulbs are initially off. You cannot see into the other room. You can flip any number of switches and in any order. You are trying to find out what switch controls what bulb in the other room. Once you are done flipping the switches, you must leave that room and you cannot go back. How do you know what switch controls what bulb? DM me the answer so you do not spoil it and I will tell you if you are right. I promise you this is all the information you need. I solved this when someone asked me, but it did take me a bit.

I think more bass need to watch YouTube videos!
@A-Jay is there any study that informs us that 10% of the lake holds 90% of the fish? We have tournaments being won by catching fish roaming in open water when they “shouldn’t be.” I am still a structure fisherman, but it is because structure is recognizable and (usually) offers variation in depth and often a point from which bass can wait to feed on baitfish traveling along a channel or other feature. Hard spots are a little different and I admit to not understanding why bass and other fish use them. Fish do change with the seasons but seasons drive water conditions which drive fish behavior. All this said, I hope you can teach me something new.
