  1. I have had some really interesting sleeping patterns. When I was a young high schooler I would stay up for stupid reasons 😔. I can remember sleeping about 3 hours across two nights. Not the norm, but it could happen. In college I struggled some with my major and I had many a late night. Made it harder on myself by fishing often, sometimes between classes. I did just fine though and my quality of life was much higher when I enjoyed hobbies. Nowadays I do prioritize sleep and I try to get enough. Sometimes I get little and I will make do. If you want to see how lack of sleep affects your brain, become an active chess player. You will see how you simply cannot perform well on little sleep.
  2. @Catt great, now I need to order packs of that color across multiple zoom products *sigh*
  3. Very likely will spool on a size 2500 Shimano Sedona
  4. Have any of you spooled a spinning reel with 10lb Tatsu? If you did, how did it fare? I have a few ideas on what I could do with this setup.
  5. It will work okay. 3/16 is light for this rod.
  6. I did not put a lot of time into new baits. I spent the first part of 2023 in Missouri and then moved to Texas in March. New lakes, more than new baits.
  7. I like Zoom’s Junebug red, Junebug, black grape, and prevalence of purple in colors like plum, tequila sunrise, and cranberry
  8. What would you be? I would be a super fat hippo
  9. @Tennessee Boy I am quite rusty on physics but yes that all checks out. I'm now trying to figure out why increased moment of inertia is a bad thing. Higher angular momentum so that the rod is marginally less reactive to changes in direction?
  10. Holy cow no, no, no. Gimruis gone wild is pure abomination. Thread, find Jesus ASAP @A-Jay how much longer do you have soft water do you think?
  11. @Tackleholic hey to a degree we all choose where we fish and what we use to fish
  12. @stratos4me I still like a degree of “give” with the one example you provide of “single, large hooks” Pressure
  13. This thread really finally has allowed everyone to get their thoughts out about the technology. We’ve had threads in the past but it seems recently that there’s more debate surrounding this technology than ever. So hats off to @AlabamaSpothunter for starting the discussion and as I said before it’ll be really interesting to see where things go from here
  14. @PTasker15 well for starters I only said shallower not shallow. But don’t be surprised if you start plinking around in 5ft or less and catch one near the bank when the water is frigid, either. When I think to how I have been successful in the winter, it is usually fishing shallower than I anticipate catching the fish in. May or may not work for you. You should always listen to the fish and not LrgmouthShad on bassresource. Lots of baits work shallow in the winter. Balsa crankbaits, spinnerbaits, jigs, shaky heads, swimbaits, etc
  15. I decided a while back that the Neko rig is here to stay and I better learn it. I’ve got quite a lot of neko weights and hooks in my terminal tackle collection
  16. I’ll add just a little something to keep in mind, and let more knowledgeable people talk tackle. There are depths of 100’ sure, but very seldom are you going to find the bass all the way down there. You are fishing for suspended fish and that is a hard game. Especially without FFS. That’s not to say those suspensed fish won’t follow something all the way to the bottom. They can and will. But if they don’t, then your bait might be literally 60’ below the nearest fish and you are not getting bit. I might plink around a little bit for such fish but I’m spending most my time shallower where I can find fish on the bottom
  17. I’ve been watching some footage from the Bassmaster Elite Santee Cooper tournament this year and been learning some things. I heard Luke Palmer make a comment at some point that he had three rods rigged with the exact same bait. All Texas rigs, 3/16, 1/4, 5/16. Yum creature bait presented to fish around cypress trees using FFS, some fish spawners. This was surprising enough that I wanted to share. Three weights, all very similar, same bait. Luke said the heavier weight would allow him to shake and not move the bait as far. Drew Cook in the event also had his baits fine-tuned. He also had three Texas rigs and used them each in different conditions.
  18. Winter in Missouri I struggled getting bites on a small lake I frequented. Downsizing and going to keitechs on ball head jigs and light line on a spinning outfit allowed me to continue getting some fish, but they were all small unfortunately. I discovered spinnerbaits and lipless crankbaits produced less fish but better quality Just one scenario
  19. Oh come on she couldn’t have been that bad. Sometimes the more…. full-figured ladies bring some friends too
  20. iRod Harold’s Lone Star Special with a Curado MGL 150 is my lightest. But I saw @A-Jay comment a bit ago that he’s not really all crazy about super light setups and I thought about what I like in a rod and reel after that and gotta say I kinda agree. I can do without super light setups
  21. The Dick’s that I know have gotten worse in the way of fishing selection. I used to go for only a couple items: black senkos and bitsy flip jigs. Now I go for nothing
  22. A good proposition. I’m gonna say…… no. But a good proposition
  23. In all seriousness there are pants from Sportsman’s Guide called Guide Gear work pants that I wear while fishing whether it is 105 degrees or 30 degrees. They make a heavier version of the pants with a lining on the inside that is very toasty and works in the winter. On the coldest of days, I layer. My Dad introduced me to these pants actually I joked about shorts but I pretty much never wear shorts unless it is athletic wear. I don’t know why, but I don’t like shorts
  24. Idk! Fellow Texans, would do we wear in the winter? Do we just stay in shorts and flip flops or……
