  1. After reading more into what crawfish do during the spring, I think some type of craw imitator is a must in the spring. I didn’t fish it enough in the past
  2. iRod 704C jigs Sorry, couldn’t help myself. Just came out of me

  4. @Cattdid not. Not entirely. It’s a good answer; I liked it. But it’s not complete. OP also asked when is fishing a spinnerbait mid depth productive. And I’ll admit that my answer basically says that I don’t know
  5. So nowadays when I fish a spinnerbait, I try to explore the water column. I utilize the countdown method to get it to middepth. However, often I find that I am retrieving the spinnerbait slow enough that it is sinking on the retrieve. Guys will do this when slow rolling, where they will cast into the shallows and let the spinnerbait follow the drop and continue to contour along or just above the bottom. I think a spinnerbait is good across the whole column. It can be good up high in some waves where there is plenty of refraction from the waves. it can be good down low where it can bump against cover. and it can be good middepth when fish are chasing shad or other baitfish down at a certain depth or to attract bass on the bottom to come up to eat I don’t think it’s easy to say though when middepth is better than other times. I think the intuitive answer is that it’s good when bass are on baitfish that are suspended. I don’t think that’s a complete answer though. I think it’s a good idea to explore the water column with a spinnerbait
  6. Here’s my deal, Catt. I may see fish on my electronics, but depending on the structure, they may be dispersed over a wide area. I start looking for active fish on the structure. In my mind, that requires me to throw baits that I can at least get back to me in a reasonable amount of time to be able to cover the structure efficiently. Also, I may intentionally not graph what I want to fish, and instead just throw baits at several targets to figure out where they are and if they are active. Thats searching for fish
  7. I don’t think your thought process is flawed; it’s whatever you like to do, man
  8. Historically it’s been spinnerbait and jig for me. This season I put a little more emphasis on the jig and I’m not disappointed
  9. And without letting us catch our breath, you post up another great trip. Awesome dude. Nevermind, I’ll shut up about the spinner ?
  10. Yeah I’m not sure if ol crickety is aware but 5.5 as far north as she is a gigantor. A certified Nadine. Your fish was friggin awesome too. Keep whacking em on a spinner. I dunno that the spinner bite ever went away in NY for me
  11. Great, another bait monkey reminder that the REVO Winch gen 5 exists. Seriously, thank you though. Please let us know how the reel performs for you on the water. I have two REVO Winch Gen 4s. They are among my favorite reels. I tried replacing the Winch with a 5 speed zillion on my spinnerbait rod, but it didn't take me long and I was back to the winch. I enjoy the large spool capacity and feel of the reel
  12. Took me a while to catch up on all the fish caught, but y’all are getting bigguns. Especially our folks up North. Awesome!
  13. Wonderful start to the season ?. Awesome work ??
  14. Maybe I should turn this into a braid vs mono fight just to spice things up. Dude I can’t understand braid here but…. Rock on I guess. Thank you for representing #STRAIGHTBRAIDBRIGADE ?. Someone had to do it
  15. I feel like I can’t reply accurately without turning this into a mono v fluoro fight. I mean, it’s probably gonna happen anyways. It’s like a bassresource ritual. Has to happen every week otherwise the site shuts down. Fluoro is fine on spinnerbaits. So is mono. There, I said it
  16. No sir that depends greatly on the specific line used. I don’t necessarily have anything against using fluoro for spinnerbaits, but what I recommend is 15lb trilene big game
  17. Am I missing something? Why are y’all s**tting on OP so bad? The man’s just trying to understand his rod. I made a confession that one of mine seems awkward too. I’m not an expert on rods either.
  18. This thread oddly makes me want to get a Swimbait Jr rod. OP, anyways, I’ll confess that my most awkward rod is an iRod. It’s the Stone Cold Swim and Vibrating Jig Rod. It’s anything but stiff, and anything but lifeless. However, it loads and casts a little differently than the rest of my rods. I keep it around because the hookup to land ratio is so ridiculously good. It was my spinnerbait rod for a long time, and it was a never-miss My current spinnerbait rod is a Falcon Expert Head Turner. Also a moderate fast, and also good for casting similar lure weights, but so so different than the iRod. It’s more whippy
  19. I’m about to get a grill. Probably tonight. A charcoal Someone recommended Weber 22in. Any thoughts?
  20. Your wife is RIGHT My best day this season, I brought one rod and a dozen jigs. Nothing else. Why? With the situation I was in that weekend, I could choose to spend more time rigging, more time sleeping, or more time fishing. I chose sleep and fishing. It was late at night prepping for the next day after getting chores done. I decided that I was just going to make sure one rod was good to go, and then get sleep, and get on the water the next day. On the water, I simply focused on finding the fish. I kept it very simple I’ll post more about this day later but caught 4 for 19lbs including one over 7 and one over 6
  21. That’s the jerkbait that I lost what could have been close to my PB on on Shearon Harris years ago.
  22. Caribou is excellent
  23. I like their French roast very much, and it is not as strong as this. on my list to try is the Italian and Sumatra Also, mine is the whole bean version. I have a grinder that outputs about a little greater than 5tbsps of ground per 20fl oz. That’s what I’ve found I like for my coffee maker. YMMV. When I made MAJ Dickason’s I could not see the bottom of the mug until there was hardly any coffee left
  24. Hey y’all, Tried this coffee this morning. What an experience. At first sip, “wow, this is strong. Don’t know if I like it.” More sips, “Okay it’s actually pretty good. Super smooth, full bodied, but dang, this stuff is strong.” Finish the cup, then later on, stuff starts happening. “Why am I so jittery?” “Why do I feel like I could run ten miles?” “Why do I feel like I never need to drink coffee again because I’ve filled my quota?” “Why do I have to crap so bad?” If you are a coffee snob, and you like dark, strong coffees, this one is for you. It’s not for everybody, and I don’t think I could it every day, but man, it is good. I just had no idea what I was getting myself into
