  1. Forgive me if it is in the video; I can't watch it right now... but do you have a preferred model for midsize cranks? At some point here I'll be looking for a starter cranking rod
  2. Yup. Love your method. You keep doing you and I'll keep doing me
  3. Lake less fished is the approach I took in NY. It was an awful lot of fun. 20 fish days were not unusual. There were so many ponds that simply didn't get fished up North. I've since moved to fishing larger more pressured bodies of water. I like the challenge and feel like I learn more. If I catch a large bass from one of these lakes, I feel tremendously more rewarded than if I catch one from an unpressured pond. Not a diss on you or anyone. I love seeing all the wonderful bass you catch in Maine, and it still takes great skill and preparation to catch large bass of any size. I've just always been one to speak my mind on this forum.
  4. Yup definitely deserves respect. You think if I just say to myself, "you're so much better than you are now", I'll actually start catching bass?
  5. Yup have that rod. Really like it. I got it specifically for shaky heads but it's a spinning rod so I'll use it for stuff that's light. Extremely light rod and pretty sensitive. Works well with a good range of lure weights. I have no problem getting necessary power from it to drive a hook home, which, on a spinning rod, wont be very thick. Casts really nice. I like it.
  6. Meh. I don't have much experience on any bodies of water here and am currently still bank-ridden. Am considering taking the rest of Feb off from fishing and doing as much as possible to continue taking care of my shoulder so I can look at lightly kayaking in March. Or purchasing a pedal drive kayak. Or a jon boat for myself. But in TX, yeah, I hope to get some nice fish regardless of whether it's from the bank or kayak. If I can find the time. Life will start to get really real. For now I'm chillin on BR at 8:30 on a Wednesday thanks for the encouragement man
  7. Harris is relatively small at just above 4,000 acres. I did not realize how workable it is in a kayak until I got the Jon Boat out there. Fishes a lot smaller than I thought. # of kayakers and # of boaters were almost equal some days. Still an awesome lake. Wish I could've caught em
  8. Me on Shearon Harris.... I just ain't real good. Someone caught them I'm sure while I was out there. Just not me. The enormous cold front didn't help
  9. Oh heck yeah
  10. Your anniversary is awfully soon!
  11. This thread is very young still
  12. Catching a huge toothy critter like that on 10lb fluoro is just stupid. And by stupid, I mean stupid awesome
  13. December 2020 for LMB and haven’t really kept track of smallmouth good. Nothing big enough where I’d want to keep track and haven’t caught a whole lot of em. Yeah sure I’ll post some PB photos again
  14. Off arguably the heaviest metal album of all time
  15. Yeah I don’t blame you for sure
  16. Historically the ones I modify or make on my own starting from a blank produce really well for me so I must be doing something right. Or at least I’m not doing something wrong
  17. Time to get some photos in here. Middle one is a war eagle finesse 5/16, nothing changed. It’s stock. Two right ones are the two booyahs that I modified like I said Two left ones are two spinnerbaits that I made using some old war eagle frames that I had previously stolen the blades and parts off of. So now they’ve been repurposed with the same blade combo as the war eagle finesse, albeit they are heavier and have different blade colors and finishes
  18. So you’d throw them when you think there should be a spinnerbait bite but can’t get bit on some of your more regular ones?
  19. Surprising. I am a huge fan of the Covert spinnerbaits. However, I picked up some regular booyahs at Walmart yesterday because I wanted to see what I could do with them, and they are great quality for the price. I simply moved the blades closer together and snipped the wire shorter to make them more symmetrical and compact. Thanks for your detailed response!
  20. I really like my 6’6” medium St Croix Triumph spinning
  21. Hey y'all, Under what circumstances do you like to use a light spinnerbait with a blade combo like the war eagle finesse with a colorado and oklahoma? I am fashioning up some spinnerbaits today using spare parts and want to use some of the oklahoma blades I have. A response just saying when you like to use the war eagle finesse is fine too.
  22. I just remembered this morning that my fishing partner on Badin once told me that he liked to use a single spin colorado with no skirt, swimbait substituted, as a wake bait when the fish would not eat a buzzbait during times he suspected that there should be a topwater bite. He said if they would not eat the buzzbait, they would eat that. I fashioned up a spinnerbait this morning with two small deep cup colorado's that will spin tighter and faster to the frame and removed the skirt and added swimbait like the guy said. Later into the season, if I catch some nice fish on this spinner, I'll be sure to share.
  23. I have no dang clue, honestly. On the recipe I was referring to while making, it was called Salsa Fresca. My roommate called it pico too so pretty sure it’s the same thing
  24. Steak fajitas! I had a big Mexican food day. Meal prepped enchiladas for lunch before this. Like how these turned out! And some homemade Salsa Fresca and chips
