Submerged Trees
Huge help, thank you. I’ve absorbed what information I can find on the web about fishing on this lake, and a spook is a factor here. I will more than likely be picking up some in the near future

Big bass baits???
I ain’t got time to rotate through a bunch of baits on a spot, unless I’m really really confident in the spot. I’ll throw a few, sometimes a couple, and if I don’t get bit, I’m moving on. Ponds and other small bodies of water are different. You can learn where the productive areas are, and rotate through baits until you find something they like

Submerged Trees
I believe it was @TnRiver46 who told me that. The lakes round here ain’t like lakes in NC, I can guarantee you that. Lol

Submerged Trees
Let me be sure that I understand what you’re saying. Are you saying that you believe that timber on some kind of structure positions fish closer to the bottom rather than timber not located on any structure?

Submerged Trees
If that’s the game, then I’m not good at it. I don’t have FFS and not convinced that I’ll ever get it, and not good with jerkbaits. Not to say I couldn’t learn, though

Big bass baits???
You just named like half of possible lure categories ??

Submerged Trees
^ thanks Let me clarify a depth range also. I think, if memory serves me right, the trees I’m talking about are in about 15ft of water, and they come up the water column quite a good ways

Submerged Trees
Hey y’all, I am unfamiliar with fishing submerged trees. None of the places I fished before had any, so this is a whole new ball game for me. I’m curious what baits/techniques you prefer to utilize around submerged trees. My concern is that a lot of fish will suspend around these trees. Seems to me like that would make them harder to catch, but perhaps y’all know some tricks that I don’t. How do you target tree-dwellers?

What’s your favorite…
Bitsy bug has too thin and weak of a hook for my liking. I go bitsy flip. Trailer, baby rage craw, or zoom z craw jr. If you use the z craw jr though, you need super glue and to trim down the bait a little before threading on One of my better fish this year came on a bitsy flip in mid-Feb. In MO, shortly before I left for TX

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
New toy that I mentioned was coming. I don’t want to do Midway USA any discredit. The order arrived well ahead of today. They have fast shipping. Lews KVD composite cranking rod 7’4” MH mod. An @A-Jay special. It’s mainly gonna be a cranking stick for me, I think, but I can see myself using it for potentially a variety of other things as well. I do like it under first impression, but this is definitely different than a graphite stick. I have it with a REVO Winch Gen 4, one of my favorite reels

Since when is 12poundbass a moderator?
Too many cops around here, not enough criminals. Plus, if he doesn’t have good taste in beer, how can we trust him to moderate tastefully?

Yeah… alright I hear ya. I’ve had problems with algae on spinnerbaits before too. I mean, I haven’t even caught a Texan fish on a spinnerbait yet so for all I know, my spinnerbait days could be few and far between

What??? You too now???? Good grief. We’ve lost our way. You can’t tell me that chatterbait success at night severely outweighs something like a Zorro Short Arm Aggravator. Ain’t no way

Cooking/Baking Thread
Oh yeah I’m still cooking I made a fish chowder tonight and absolutely loved it. Shown is what all I put into it, minus paprika, butter, salt, and German white wine. It’s not the healthiest meal I’ve made and I’ll adjust portions of butter and bacon for the next time, but holy moly this was good. The fish is cod. I will look to make it with maybe crappie in the future

Total shoulder replacement recovery?
Triple tap. Sorry, I’m passionate about this. OP, I would do yourself a favor and stop fishing if you have to change your cast and hookset. Play the long game. If you have not yet taken time to first rest your shoulders, then do that. After resting, then go into PT and work hard at it. All this if you want to go the natural route. If you want surgery, then I don’t know what advice to give

Total shoulder replacement recovery?
Just here to say I hope you are able to enjoy life the way you want to, one way or another. I dealt with shoulder issues over the past 9-10 months or so. I stopped fishing for a decent portion of that time. I am better now, not fully recovered still, and actually I pulled something while washing the truck the other day, but I am able to manage the injury and once again fish and lift the way I want to. I understand I am lucky, and I wish nothing but the best for you. I never want to have to go through constant pain again, so I feel for you. Prayers sent for your recovery, either natural or through surgery I can’t say whether PT in this guy’s case is better than the knife, but I can say that PT helped me. At some point, I just was fed up with “babying” the injury and went harder with PT and doing things that caused me pain, within reason, and that’s when I actually started to see progress. For me, I needed to strengthen the muscles, even if it hurt
