  1. Hi my name is Jim, I’m 19 and I don’t know how to read. And yeah, keep it reel man ?
  2. Longest I’ll go is a little over 2hrs. My normal drive is an hour and 45 minutes. So I’m pretty much maxed out at the moment. I’ll probably check out some closer lakes soon too
  3. Nah. Check out the whole series, y’all
  4. One thing I learned quick on Somerville recently when more boaters came out: Everything that I know, other people do too. The tire fields, the rock lines, boulders, underwater trees, all of it. I have a bunch of waypoints, and I would go from waypoint to waypoint and there would be someone sitting precisely on something I marked. It was a very eye-opening experience for me.
  5. Do me a favor and try the green glimmer one soon. That water looks decently clear
  6. You’d thrown that same one a bunch before though right? Or did you swap colors?
  7. Thank goodness. I can now sleep at night
  8. They bent my rods over pretty good! Certainly were fun to fight. I can only imagine how fighting them on light spinning gear would be. I want to catch a bunch the next time I go out for food, and then maybe use some of them whole or cut as catfish bait. As long as shad continue spawning, I think I should find them in the same place the next morning I’m out
  9. Bite could be clear taps on the bait, one tap with or without the line jumping, sudden slack in the line (one of the hardest IMO), sudden tightness in the line, line moving, mushy sensation when you lift up, etc. Something you see or feel is different. How is it different than hitting a laydown or coming through grass? Thats something you have to feel for yourself. But if you are coming through grass getting a certain sensation and then all of a sudden you feel something different, could be a bite
  10. ? I had no idea what was happening at first. I'm not familiar with white bass. So the first fish slammed the spinner and I just thought "What the heck is that????!!" "Gotta be a catfish or something" "No it ain't fighting like one and it's coming up some too" "Gotta be a bass" "Uhhh that ain't like any bass I've seen" ?. Yeah, I was fishing for largies but at the end of the day, I found a boatload of shad and some of their predators, so, all good by me. I could have stayed there and continued to catch lord knows how many white bass.
  11. Why? lol. Because spinnerbait? He told me he catches em on a spinner too, just not largemouth or smallmouth. Most my fish were on a crankbait though.
  12. Had some fun catching white bass this A.M on largemouth lures. Woke up at 3 am and was on my spot around 6:30. Start off by throwing a painted spinnerbait. Nothing. I make a move 25yds to my left and then I start catching these white bass, starting with the most violent spinnerbait strike I've ever gotten. I catch the four photo'd plus a couple more. Now, at this time, I'm starting to feel bad. I am catching nice white bass but have nothing to keep them in. I've thrown my four back. But look, another boater is heading towards me, right as I'm reeling in the third fish from three consecutive casts. I talk to him and let him know that if he'll take my white bass, I'd like to give them to him, so that they are not thrown back. He agrees; he's fishing for white bass too. So I go and catch nine more with many more biters or ones that shook me off, and then give him all nine. You can see 7 in the photo; two are underneath my seat. I was done fishing for those white bass by 8 A.M. Went fishing for largies after. No luck, and don't care. Cool experience with a fish that I can't recall hardly ever catching before. Shad were loaded in the area that I was fishing. P.S next time I'm bringing a cooler myself. I was glad to give my fish to this gentleman, but I want them for myself now. Gotta eat!
  13. For sure Badin has my heart. I love that lake. Great fishing in the summertime, because it tends to stay cooler and there is a myriad of shallow water options, especially on the northern end of the lake littered with docks and water willows. Very very healthy lake, and I think it will continue to be for a long time. The fish have plenty of places to hide from anglers Let me know if you ever are looking to go fishing there
  14. Pat you are in a great location in NC for fishing. Have you been on Randleman or Badin at all? I think your ponds and small lakes are tough to beat though
  15. Finding a 5 gear ratio with right hand retrieve is not all that hard. Finding one with a left hand retrieve is more challenging, but there are still some options on the market. I have two REVO Winch Gen 4s and love them. Bait monkey wants me to get the new generation 5 and I don’t know how much longer I can hang on ?
  16. I hear some walleye do
  17. Yeah I swear too much. One day it all just kinda started coming out of me
  18. Fantastic @Aaron_H! @Cbump I’m liking the forecast for this weekend, my guy
  19. Lew’s KVD Composite Cranking Rod one of the cheapest I own and is A-Jay endorsed. Great rod. Got to fight a few catfish with it on my last trip and it really performs well. Casts good, fights great, sensitive, comfortable albeit heavier because of composite material. Nice rod
  20. No, not friendly at all. I got too close to them one day fishing… things could have gone South for me. I didn’t know much about Otters. Now I do
  21. Can never look at otters the same after I found remains of one of the ol muddy pond giants on the bank sometime after a family of otters showed up
  22. I’m curious to know as well. Also shocked you don’t carry a heavy
  23. Very sorry to hear about your loss A-Jay
