  1. Figured I’d share this MONSTER of a first fish that I caught on a Keitech. Absolute beaut Nah, Im done fishing this lake I think. I’ve spent a lot of time on various parts of the lake and not catching the size I want. I may return if I think we start going into prespawn
  2. I don’t think I’ve heard them before but it’s alright 7. What I’m listening to now pre-fishing. As a metalhead, if I am listening to country (which I really enjoy), you can bet that I am in an especially peaceful mood
  3. Since I am talking about max depth here, I am referring to letting a spinnerbait sink down to desired depth before retrieving. But too deep, and that light of spinnerbait is going to want to rise too much and won’t maintain the same depth and will want to rise. So the question is how deep you believe a 3/8 will track at the same depth I retrieve spinnerbaits all sorts of ways. Top of the water column to the bottom
  4. You okay, man? I appreciate you saying that you can get a 3/8 down to 15’ and I believe you. We’re just sharing opinions here
  5. I've been messing with baits for a bit now rigging for tomorrow. Bang crawfish scent is some horrid stuff. We are looking to go out to some bars soon. You think if I go out with the scent of bang crawfish on my hands, I'll land a PB? By the way, you won the internet with that comment. So easy to make, yet so funny regardless.
  6. I run 15lb test pretty much always. Thanks! How deep do you think you get most 3/8oz spinnerbaits to run if you were just to do it with your normal setup?
  7. You are most definitely run by a member here; I just haven’t figured out who yet. Maybe that should be another thread I start “who runs the bait__monkey account?” Seems like something @roadwarrior would do Yeah, that’s right. I called you dependent. Go and throw some banana fits at me
  8. Meanwhile, I ain't convinced anybody to buy an iRod, and I can promise them that they are missing out. If they held a Harold's Lone Star or 704C, they would know what I'm talking about. Maybe I'll have to buy an Ark rod sometime. I almost did; a while back I sent you a message about potentially using one for c-rigging
  9. I tend to run a 3/8oz deeper than most probably because I have so much confidence in the Nichols 3/8oz frame, and it’s what I started with. Running that frame deeper.
  10. Hey y’all, Ive never been 100% certain of how deep I can get a 3/8oz spinner to run without rising off the bottom. Basically to keep the same depth. For this example, let’s say that you are using a 3/8oz stock spinnerbait with your standard double willow or colorado/willow. Please don’t ask for more specifics than that, general numbers are fine. How deep do you think you can get your standard 3/8oz spinner to run? I honestly think I get 10’-12’ out of a 3/8oz. The tradeoff of course is that with that light spinnerbait, you are getting less casting distance and hence less time at your running depth before it starts to rise. But what about you? I’m curious to hear everyone’s thoughts on where a standard 3/8 maxes out.
  11. Fishing tomorrow for a good while. Real decent weather, winds up to 14mph. Looks like the last nice day for a while. Days after that are going to be really cold. With the high winds again, Im expecting a spinnerbait to be a big player yet again. Looking forward to it! I’m going to do quite a bit of rigging and planning tonight
  12. Sticking to a rod brand isn’t playing with new toys. That’s just playing with the same toys over and over again. You know, you could really spice things up by giving iRod a chance
  13. You know, iRod has a lot of great rods ?
  14. I'll also shoutout @NorthernBasser and @FishTank
  15. I've seen it. you think that should be on my "must try" list for 2023?
  16. Might sound weird but I have no idea what I'm going to fish. I'm moving soon to TX and will be fishing new water I do like fishing around grass with a spinnerbait and through lily pads
  17. Yup, it is for the heavier models. There are times I'll throw a 5/8 or 3/4.
  18. Hey y'all, Have any of y'all tried this spinnerbait? I've seen it before and liked the look of it but wrote it off because of the price. I see that there are some models on sale on TW for about $9 and the bait monkey suddenly attacked me. Look forward to your responses
  19. My humble opinion is that profile including size, rate of fall (where applicable), and something Ill loosely refer to as “action” meaning how the bait moves (sorta fitting in with profile) are more important to bass than color. So for your example of jigs, I would rather own a few different weights and sizes of jigs with 2 or 3 basic colors than own only one size of jig in two weights with 6 different colors. Trailers are another matter. Develop confidence in colors that you prefer and then stick with those.
  20. Who pushes people the most, but… if someone has a huge tackle collection… by virtue of their huge amount of baits, they may also, in a way, persuade you to want to buy more… without even saying anything.
  21. Hey now, we're not handing out participation ribbons here. We're looking for a winner here. Winning matters
  22. Hey y'all, Title says all. Who best exemplifies everything the bait monkey stands for and wishes to do? Do you perhaps wonder if this person actually is the bait monkey? Let's hear it. I vote @T-Billy
  23. If you imagine looking at the spool from the side, what you see (the cross section) is a circle. The diameter of that circle is the spool diameter that @bulldog1935 is referring to here. So you might think of spool diameter as how "tall" the spool is.
