  1. I use all my gear. Only have 7 combos. The three that get used the most are Texas rig, jig, and spinnerbait combos, with my spinning rig not far behind. I thought about it and my favorite combo of 2022 has to be my t-rig combo. iRod Harold’s Lone Star Special with Curado MGL 150. So crisp, so accurate, so light, so responsive.
  2. Used to have a couple. I gave them away. You fishing today too?
  3. Cloudy this afternoon and quite windy today. I’ll be out around noon - sunset. With the wind really kicking and clouds, hope I can get a spinnerbait bite going…. I always hope that… but going to remain open minded. I won’t be able to fish on the bottom as easily. Maybe the lipless will produce again for me. Just that one fish yesterday in 2hr but happy to not get skunked. No plan. Going to start where I did yesterday and just keep an eye out for things @TnRiver46 I tried your fluke and jig head and liked what I could do with it, just didn’t get any bites. @WRB was right, casting distance is suffering with that bait. It helps to have something that can get out farther.
  4. Yeah I remember that too. FishTank and I had a private convo about the zillion and spinnerbaits and thats when he recommended the sv-3 to me. I thought that was you
  5. Wait a minute. It was you who wanted me to try the SV-3s, not @NorthernBasser I mixed y’all up for some reason
  6. There’s something that I just really enjoy about leg day. All that blissful soreness. I really don’t like it the next day, but in the moment, I just like to make my legs groan a little.
  7. Brother, you have sinned as I once sinned. But it is okay, for I am here to set things right. Y’all is spelled y’all. Not ya’ll. I did it wrong for like a year on this site. I don’t know if I can ever make up for it. Now, go forth and prosper
  8. +1 for the lipless
  9. Posted up in the Latest Catch Pics Thread already but here’s the first bass of 2023
  10. I am on the board for 2023 from a 2 hour quick trip I took. I’ll probably be out again in the evening too but have to go do something. Crappie fisherman told me the water temp is 38 degrees with skim ice in some places. Air temp around 30. Bass hit relatively close to shore. Fishing around submerged grass, trying to tick the tops. Caught on 1/4oz red eye shad
  11. It’s been pretty seldom that I’ve fished a body of water long enough to call it a home body of water. I got pretty familiar with some bodies of water in NY, but I only fished them over a season and a half or so. Only one reservoir, about two seasons or over. So, I don’t have seasons upon seasons of experience on anything, and I don’t expect to for a while. But, I can take my analysis of a spinnerbait and think “this is a well built spinnerbait and I’ve had success on either it or ones like it in the past”. Then I can throw that thing with confidence because I know what it is doing. Plus I have a little idea of what I like to throw in different seasons now. What I can figure out is “At some time, and some place, that spinnerbait is going to work.” And since I move around, eventually that spinnerbait is bound to be good for me
  12. I can’t speak for other lures, but everything in a spinnerbait is easily analyzed. You look at blade size, blade thickness, blade shape, blade spacing, the components on the wire arm, the quality of the swivel, the frame size, the wire thickness, the wire flexibility, the head shape, the hook size, the skirt, etc. (I’m sure I’m forgetting some)… and you get a general idea in your head of how that spinnerbait is going to run and what it’s going to look like, and, most importantly, you can compare it to other spinnerbaits that you’ve used in the past to get a baseline to compare to.
  13. you’re telling me that you can’t just look at a spinnerbait and go… “yeah, that’ll work good”?
  14. Also, to contribute to the threads discussion of spinnerbaits with great components: Another spinnerbait with decent value and good components is the Trophy Bass Co Ozark Flash spinnerbaits. My only gripe might be with the skirt. Just a rubber band cheapie. Everything else in the spinnerbait is built really nice. Unique blades, unique head shape, nice screw lock keeper and hook, excellent blade spacing Prices seem to vary on this spinnerbait Edit: dangit one more too. E-factor spinnerbaits. Google them. Illinois deal. I saw them in a shop and gave them a looking over and was really impressed
  15. MOYO I just checked your profile. Nice to have another young fella on here; I hope you stick around. Nice fish that you mentioned above!
  16. Im gonna put you on blast real quick. So this one time @TnRiver46 and I are talking over private messaging and the topic of girls comes up. I tell him I’m having trouble finding nice girls and picking them up. The man himself tells me, “You have to use finesse tactics”. @TnRiver46 is married now to a beautiful wife. @TnRiver46 has got rizz! Hey @TnRiver46, lemme get some of that skunk juice real quick, help a brother out
  17. If I get it right, I am 100% confident in the palomar. So I continue to tie it. thanks for your help!
  18. 1. Avoiding crossing of the line over itself during the initial stages 2. Making the loop big enough for the lure to pass through 3. Avoiding contorting the knot whilst putting the lure through the loop
  19. Sweet y’all. Best of luck! I just realized that it’s 20 degrees overnight tonight…. It may be a difficult first day for me tomorrow and hope that ice is nowhere to be seen. the forecast is excellent for many days going forward though for keeping away ice. Tomorrow’s choice of spinnerbait: a lot different than my usual stuff but I thought through what I wanted out of it for this trip
  20. Another thing I just rigged up is a road runner with similar fluke. 1/4oz. That will cover that, I think Think I get it. He’s just slowly reeling while bouncing rod tip? And selecting his depth by how long he initially lets it fall? Normally I ain’t wild about small baits but I’ve got reason to believe that the baitfish the bass are targeting on this smallish lake are quite small and probably struggling with cold temperatures.
  21. Don’t own any Ned heads
  22. I need more explaining… my dumb butt can’t figure out what you mean, lol
  23. This is what I rigged up
  24. Man that sounds fire. I have some tiny flukes someplace. Got it ?? How do you retrieve that?
