  1. I think on my last outing on Shearon Harris, I should’ve stayed in an area where shad and bass were at times in 5ft or less. I told that to a guy at the ramp I met after who was fishing 15-20ft and who also didn’t catch and he was awfully surprised. I said I saw bass busting on shad and his eyebrows went up. Water was below 47 degrees but bass were busting on shad super shallow. I don’t know how to catch bass very well but I try and pay attention to what I’m seeing and sometimes what I’m seeing surprises me a lot
  2. I did not show it, but on TW’s Black Friday sale I got oodles of hooks. Mostly KVD triple grips and my most used worm hooks. And glad I did. I am well stocked up.
  3. Welp. I bought crankbaits after all. And jerkbaits before that! What’s next? Chatterbaits??!! The bait monkey is patient I guess. Anywho, nobody told me that the rapala color “Big Shad” is a sexy beast.
  4. I see it now, thank you. looks okay
  5. Think it depends on the fishery. I’ve seen tournament results from Oneida Lake where some of the winning anglers targeted largemouth, and there are only a couple well-known areas on the west side of the lake (South(?) Bay and Big Bay) where good numbers of largemouth can be caught.
  6. How do you like the moderate fast taper for jigs? ‘Course I’ve used my Head Turner for jigs before and thought it was fine but wanted to hear what you think since you’ve used these rods for longer than I have. Do you even prefer the moderate fast over a fast? Im just curious. I like my main jig rod (704C) and almost certainly won’t change but nice to get another perspective.
  7. I dunno what I think about this topic anymore and not sure that I care. I’m pretty set in my ways. 12 or 15lb trilene big game depending on a bunch of factors if baitcasting. Braid to 8lb-15lb trilene big game on spinning depending on a bunch of factors. There are a few exceptions but that’s it for me. Roll the credits
  8. The market for DC braked spinning reels grows….
  9. Yeah sure thing. The skirt is lumaflex with some tinsel and the blade is one that I received in a collection of blades. It is a Zorro blade no longer produced and I can’t find many similar ones.
  10. Got the European mount of my buck
  11. Shaky head finesse worm. 3/16. In slower water I could fish it normally, but in swifter current, I would use the current. Cast the worm upstream of some object that I want to target, and then alternate a series of hops and feeding slack line. Hop hop… feed slack… reel in slack if any depending on angle…. hop hop. Do that in the current and it looks like a fish swimming in the current.
  12. Hey y’all, When do you like to use them and what rattles do you prefer?
  13. Sounds pretty light. iRod Genesis III Harold’s Lone Star Special Also the best light t-rig rod on the planet. Is it really? Dunno but I can’t imagine one being much better. @Catt you ever use this rod? I remember at some point you said you “held” and liked the 704C for jigs
  14. So many combinations. That’s what’s so great about them. I was just thinking though that that SV-3 bluegill spinnerbait with the black nickel blades might be real nice in the summer along the bottom. With the stock blades too.
  15. 5” black senko pond fish 6.8lbs NC Modified Zorro Short Arm Aggravator. 6.21lbs NY. I count this one as larger, because of region and the body of water. The pond above is just a little too easy for 5-6lbers Photos are already posted in other places
  16. I managed to fish Shearon Harris four times and get skunked every time. It’s not every bass angler that can do that. Id go out again today but I would like to get a couple hunting trips in before this leave is over. In 2022, I like that I learned how to fish a shaky head. I like that I learned a lot about structure fishing, with a lot still to learn. I like that I installed an anchor trolley on my kayak. I like that I started to pursue river smallmouth and learned some about their behavior and caught some small ones. I like that I started to build my own lures. No bragging though, not because I don’t want to but because I don’t have enough to brag about. I’m not a good fisherman.
  17. Our defense is turning the ball over three times to mess with their head ?
  18. Didn’t feel too bad. I had to ask how the day was when got back to the ramp and sounded like people weren’t catching. I am sure that there are some that did much better. Just not me. Oh well! Eternal optimist. I need that right now. Gritting my teeth over this Michigan TCU game
  19. Since we got it in the house My New Year’s Eve choice
  20. I made a poor decision on what spot to fish and weather interrupted my sesh. Not really surprised didn’t catch. Not enough casts
  21. Awesome all I ain’t caught nuthin. 2022 ain’t a bust but man, catching-wise it coulda been better. Here’s to 2023!
