  1. First instinct was 4-5 lbs. Camera angles make a lot of difference.
  2. I’m not a tournament angler but follow tournament pages on Facebook for my home lakes to know what’s going on. I some times see “no trailering” or “trailering allowed”. What are they referring to by that? Does that mean driving your boat to other landings by car? Sorry if this is a stupid question, just figured this was the best place to ask.
  3. you set the hook like that it really doesn’t matter your line or rod or equipment, that’ll hook about anything.
  4. I second this. The more big fish you catch the bigger the fish has to be to make you panic. A 4 lber used to make my heart stop, now I just smile and enjoy the fight.
  5. There’s a reason the first fish was there, it’s a good spot. Why wouldn’t another one like it?
  6. 3/0 is plenty big enough to hook anything you want. EWG works fine too. I’d look at your hook set. Sounds like you aren’t setting well if the hook ain’t breaking the plastic. Could try texposing the hook too.
  7. That’s a bait I tried hard to love, just never had any luck on it
  8. I used to enjoy it but turned more into a pain. I can tie the prettiest FG knot you’ll ever see and never had one fail, just wore thin on me tying them. I may switch back, my casting distance dropped going back to mono and my hook sets don’t feel as solid but there are benefits to the mono. Simplicity, cost, lighter wire hooks (with braid I bent a hook every hook set before going to superline hooks). Everything has trade offs though.
  9. mono definitely stretches, but I feel like it’s stretching right around where my drag would let loose anyways. At that point does it matter? I went back to mono after being a braid to leader guy for a year. I was tired of tying leaders, and big game is so much cheaper. Fish didn’t seem to care, but the hook sets definitely are different now. It’s hard to beat that positive lock with a braid hook set.
  10. Ive never seen a DD either, but did pull in a 9 lber. I know that isn’t much compared to many on here, but the shear size of a fish that size is impressive. I use a rather large net, my wife is usually the net girl and isn’t necessarily the best so a big net makes me feel better. The fish made the net look small. I then put the fish in my tracker 175’s live well, which I thought was pretty big. The fish took up most of it too. if you’re targeting fish of that size plan accordingly, it’s a different world.
  11. I watch market place on Facebook to see what is selling for what and watch how fast it sells to gauge market value.
  12. More tore up the better!
  13. 1)trolling motor - baddest you can afford/fit 2) big front deck 3) fish finder
  14. Just keep sticking with it. Hard to be a t-rigged trick worm in GP or JB. A lot of it is now what but how and that takes time learning.
  15. Played with It this past weekend and it definitely moves differently. I also noticed without a bead between the bait and the weight, the weight would hand up with the hook eye and not move as well.
  16. I Texas rig on gama 3/0 EWG and 1/4 oz sinker. Never had any trouble with hook up ratio.
  17. Heavier rod might help. Whatever hook set you give won’t be lost in rod flex.
  18. That’s crap. Don’t offer free shipping if you’re going to back seat it. All while still offering daily specials. Ordered 3 weeks ago and still haven’t received it. I’ll try other vendors going forward.
  19. I truely despise trebles. I’ll use single hook anything if I can.
  20. never heard of the 14 lber. I stand corrected.
  21. Him and his Buddy brought one lure that day and took turns casting it. They snuck off the farm to fish for the day. When the bass hit, they thought they hung up their only plug on a log and that their fishing day was over. Doesn’t sound like a consistent fisherman to me, let alone a consistent big bass guy.
  22. I hardly think perry “lucking” into one giant bass makes him better than some of our memembers who caught them regularly, even if the supposed bass was bigger.
  23. I double this. I tend to not be tight before setting but I reel as much slack I can without the fish feeling me before setting.
  24. I know that lake. I wouldn’t recommend it. Especially wouldn’t recommend driving that far to it.
  25. As someone from Georgia, I have my doubts on it. Look at the biggest from the surrounding states (all known for big bass as well), and the next biggest bass is 18lbs, GA included. We have big bass here, not typically in the rivers though. I live about an hour and a half from where Perry caught it, the bass pro here has a replica of the fish. Very impressive by any measure.
