  1. Too add, they absolutely back up their free replacement claims. I usually buy a pair in the spring and lose/break mid summer and they’ve always sent the replacement within a few days.
  2. I love my shady rays, and so doesn’t everyone I know that tries them as well.
  3. i learned that early on. Real easy to overload a rod and not really realize it.
  4. Ive had surface rust on jig hooks from leaving Yamamoto trailers on. Those are very salty though.
  5. Why would you have to pull carpet? If you need a bigger tray take out your current tray, mark your pattern, and cut the carpet while cutting the deck.
  6. You’re putting a container of water on a scale and weighing the contents. He’s putting the scale in the water and measuring objects there. He’s right, an objects weight in water is a function of its density.
  7. If I made a trip down there, would you suggest the river or is the Rodman? The Rodman isn’t much further than putting in palatka
  8. Pulling is one thing. Stopping is another and is actually the harder and more important part.
  9. I grew up on that river but didn’t start fishing until years later. My grandparents still have a place up in doctors lake. I need to go visit and bring the the boat lol
  10. Something to think about is how much water is coming in when you pick up your trolling motor? My old jon boat used to get water accumulate a little bit from the trolling motor pick ups. Boat was bone dry electric only places where it stayed down. just another thing to think about
  11. i need to work on fishing what I can’t visually see in the worst way, just a hard habit to break. Feels like I’m casting at nothing.
  12. so shallow you’d expect the bite on the way down, deeper on the retrieval. What depth do you typically draw the line there?
  13. My first boat was a 14 ft alum craft with a 12v 55 lb trolling motor up front. It would last a long weekend at the lake fishing pretty hard no problems. Moved spot to spot with my outboard. But definitely covered a lot of water with the trolling motor.
  14. No doubt they are here. Especially in private waters. But in public water you don’t hear of them frequently as those other states. (No Rodman’s, lake forks, the delta, etc). Sorry to swing the subject! I go back to my hole now.
  15. I can’t say I’d count anything with a guide as my PB, but beyond that I only have one PB. Not nearly the factory as the other states. They pop up here and there but not anywhere near the frequency of the other states. I also live in the black hole of GA freshwater fishing so that may shade my judgement. ?
  16. what four states? Florida, Texas, Cali, and?
  17. Skunked today. Again. And the cocaine will be calling me again this weekend. every cast could be that cast. It’s why it’s so addicting
  18. I used Home Depot cedar cut into 2x2’s for framing and 1/4” ply I coated with fiberglass for flooring. Had zero problems. Looking back i carpeted it but I would’ve used seadeck instead.
  19. I think it’s easy to get paralysis by analysis with colors. I find green pumpkin, June bug, and black covers me. I also don’t put out 20 lb bags either though...
  20. It’s tough for me. I don’t live near big water and fish a lot of places geared more towards trophies that are pretty pressured. Warmer months I do well anywhere I go. Colder months I get skunked fairly regularly at my local places. Aggravating since when I head out to big water I don’t skunk nearly as much. I ain’t going to lie and say it doesn’t bother me. It certainly gets in my head and sometimes I have to put the boat up for a bit after a couple bad outings in a row.
  21. roughly 50 acres, creek fed mill pond that’s dammed up. Our water temps are about right and we have a warm streak next week in front of the full moon. I’m thinking it should be a hot bite.
  22. When I did mine, I saw a video of the Top Gun Jonboat on YouTube. He goes through how he built it using Home Depot 2X4 (actual measurement) cedar that he cut down to 2x2’s (1.5x1.5). I used the construction and it was strong as can be and can’t tell you all that much heavier than aluminum. Definitely way cheaper. After sealing the wood with oil based paint it should last at least the lifespan of the boat.
  23. I drove by and snapped pictures of all the brush piles that I had no idea was there ???
  24. i second this. I compared head to head tatsu 15 lb and big game 12 lb using different knots and big game won every bout. I repeated with 12 lb tatsu and 10 lb big game, same result. I stripped all my reels and went back to big game. Just because it’s affordable doesn’t take away from its performance.
  25. The water level is supposedly back up. The rising water should push them shallow again right? How do you think it would effect the spawn? Our water temps around here are about there, low 50’s
