  1. To me it just made sense to have my strong hand do the casting and rod holding. I really think LH retrieve reels should be the standard for right handers and versa. Went shark fishing and a good one took my father in laws rig while he was unable to grab it. Felt so strange having to wrestle the fish holding the rod with my weak hand.
  2. Need to try one of them cut r worms
  3. I’ve never switched hands. First time I picked up a reel I grabbed it with my right hand and could never understand why anyone would want to hold the reel with their off hand lol
  4. I just fish lefty all the time even though Im righty. Makes me the black sheep of the family.
  5. Next to no brakes and loose spool. Thumb runs the show.
  6. Pretty common around here. Lake a bit north has a 25 hp limit. You’ll see a lot of people by old trackers with blown motors and stick 25’s on. I got a 50 on my 175, runs good and not underpowered but I wouldn’t want yo go any less.
  7. Great fish buddy
  8. Good call on NMEA 2000. Looks like you’re right.
  9. pretty much. Or not really have heading trying to troll around structure. Hard to tell what direction to troll. I got a 24v fortrex
  10. I fish with 2 Echomap 73’s. One on console and one on bow. I usually have a hard time lining myself with structure, and my boat position on the map doesn’t seem to exactly correlate with real time. Would the external compass unit make a difference? The unit itself isn’t expensive but I believe id have to get a network hub too so just wanted to get yalls thoughts.
  11. Rage bug very quickly becoming my go to for anything.
  12. Man I’m sitting in a Shreveport hotel down the road from Toledo bend and kicking myself for not being able to fish it. Back to Georgia tomorrow, only here for the afternoon but still cool to be in proximity
  13. How late in the year is cold an issue where you are? I probably won’t see 50’s again until November. Give me another month and probably won’t see 60’s either.
  14. I just get rained on lol. I don’t melt and the sun down here dries us off quick.
  15. Looks like a 90’s Yamaha vmax.
  16. best bite in bass fidhing even though that frog is a thrill in itself.
  17. Daiwa Fuego is about all I use. Cheap and works.
  18. I’m horrible at it too. I’ve considered getting live scope or 360 just to help me cast at what I marked.
  19. I’ve been wanting to do there premium membership for orders but they don’t seem to have all (or even most) of the color options I want in some tackle. May need to suck it up though if they’re as good as it sounds.
  20. I practiced on grass. Helped a lot. I’m dang accurate, and on a whim can stick a lure in tight spots. But it’s also caused a lot of issues with trajectory trying to lay the lure in soft and skipping baits. You get a rod tip a bit low on the water and it’s just water, practicing on grass I avoided dragging my rod tip to a fault. It has place. As soon as you can cast well enough to go fish, go fish. Nothing beats on the water.
  21. Sounds like you learned nothing lol
  22. i have santee cooper within driving distance from me that’s notorious for the stumps sometimes even in the boat lanes. Pro guy took the foot of his motor off hitting a chimney in 15 foot of water not long ago. I’ve never gone because of its reputation. What’s the protocol? Run the big motor in the lanes and use the trolling motor outside of it?
  23. I generally put my rod tip in the water and free spool my lure until I can’t see it. Pull it up and that’s my visibility. I fish a lot of back water and black water. A foot is a good day.
  24. When I have bass questions I ask the pros, you and @WRB if you have heart questions you need to ask the pros, the cardiologist. get well soon, scary stuff.
  25. If I’m fishing open I’ll work it back to the boat. If I’m fishing a particular piece of cover I tend to work the cover hard and then reel it back once it out of strike zone
