Something you should never do
It's not that serious. I've always been of the mind that when you start forgetting what baits and terminal tackle you have, what rods and reels you have and what their intended purpose is, and when you can't remember what line is on your setup, you've got a self made and unnecessary problem.

Shimano SLX Glass Rods
Not a comment on the glass, but I want to like the SLX rods but Shimano decided they should (mostly) all be Extra Fast. Weird. I don't get it.

Buy out of Sportsman Warehouse comes apart.
That's a common problem with the small mom and pop businesses. They almost demand your business in your community as a sign of loyalty and support, but I'm not paying $10 for something I can get for $5 at the big box. I'm sorry, but I just don't owe you my wallet so you can live in the best neighborhood in town and drive that red sports car.

I can't be the only one...
Which is best? Mono or fluoro, and why is it mono?

I can't be the only one...
I play league 8-ball and I play Call of Duty competitively as other hobbies, so I get more invested in those hobbies in the winter to hold me over. I'm fishing again before I know it. Life is too short for one obsession.

Budget jig rod..
The clear plastic reel seat of the Lightning Rod WILL break. It's happened to me on the 2 I've had before I stopped trying to get away with cheap rods. Aird-X is the king in the $50 range.

Mono vs fluoro
I'm not seeking an argument with you. I'm addressing your post. The umbrella rig argument isn't one I typically see. You're talking about close contact. It doesn't make sense that the bass isn't spooked by the hook and weed guard of a jig but it is spooked by the harder to see line. It doesn't make sense that a bass isn't spooked by the weight and exposed hook of a drop shot but it is spooked by the harder to see line. It doesn't make sense that a bass isn't spooked by the shiny hooks bending out of the worm of a Texas Rig or the weight but it is spooked by the harder to see line. And on and on it goes. The hook is usually thicker and definitely more visible than your line. I get what you're saying though. Usually nobody will be convinced either way, like politics and religion.

T/W Phone Hours.
Errrbody getting the Omicron. So many businesses around here have temporarily shut down until staff is Covid free and can come back.

Mono vs fluoro
They examine lures so carefully that they don't notice the shiny hooks, lead/tungsten, etc but that tiny hard to see strand is what they see.

Cracked/chipped ferrule, how to fix?
That's worse than I was thinking based on what I read in the OP. How is that not a snap?

Fingers crossed for a January bass.
I've never caught a bass in January or February. But I can't recall trying to do so too often either.

Left handed baitcasting reel
When I got into bass fishing I wasn't aware that there are left handed reels. In those days my reels came from Walmart in the form of Abu Garcia Black Max and Silver Max, all right handed (that's all they carry). I wasn't even aware of the plethora of reels available and I thought these Max series reels were among the best because that's what the big box stores carry. When I did find out about much better reels and decided that it was time for me to get into them, my research online lead me to the option of right handed or left handed. Totally blew my mind. I'm as right handed as any right handed person. Fighting the fish and working the baits and getting the right action ALWAYS felt awkward and awful to me. I'm right handed, why am I using my weak side to fight fish? Why is my weak side holding the long stick trying to get the right action? All my right hand does is turn a handle. So I went lefty, and I never went back. It's far more natural.

Tired of it
Tired of it in the sense that I won't fish for long periods of time or quit altogether? Not a chance. But every season it's in bursts for me. I'll fish 5 times a week for a month or two and then I might fish 5 times total the next month. Anything becomes exhausting when it's all you do. I have other hobbies. Fishing is a major part of my life but it isn't my whole life.

My Buddy Was Cleaned Out!
Confession time: I had a troubled home life the likes of which you see on generic Lifetime movies and creepy documentaries that women love to watch these days. When I was a teenager I used to steal 2 things: food and fishing lures from stores. That's how I was able to not starve and how I was able to escape the house of horrors to go get lost doing something else. But it seemed like I always immediately lost what I had stolen, as if karma was making an appearance. In a weird way it taught me that no matter how bad things are, stealing isn't the answer. That stopped when I finally got out at 17 and got a job. Moral of the story, it doesn't matter who you are, karma will find you.
