I had a rat get into my apartment twice in the philippiines. Both times i was in bed gettin ready to fall asleep when my wife seen it flash by. Chased it around in my boxers weilding a broom for an hour finally slap shotting it to its death and the second one i was ready for it by chasing it into a sticky trap.

All this year wife and i used lures and plastics, wife also used gulp live minnows. Then in oct a person next to us gave us their live, dead minnows and wife put them on and wow what a difference from gulp live minnows. I then put a few on a jig head and the smallies went wild. The next time we went fishin we bought a 1/2 scoop of minnows at scheels for $3.75 and caught smallies and walleye and had enough minnows left for our next trip though dead they worked great. I will now bring real minnows on every trip because they are cheap and they catch fish. Also easy to store in the freezer by putting them in plastic bag and soaking them in cheap vodka. Heck a bag of 3 inch gulp live shiners 12 per pack costs $6.99-7.99 and get destroyed quickley, live minnows can last as long as a gulp and are better ln cost and best in attracting fish. I like to catch fish and dont care if its a live minnow or may even use nite crawlers. I am over the stigma that you are not a real fisherman if you use live bait. Now how about you real fishermen take your side imagining, depth finders, sonar and other electronics out of your fishing vessels and tell me how you did that day. This is the main reason i now spend all my time fishing the dams in north dakota, 4 of them all within 70 miles of home. In one day the wife and i standing in the same spot will catch muskie, pike, smallies, largies, walleye, white bass, panfish, bullheads, channel cats, carp. We see steurgeon but havnt caught one yet. The best part about fishin the dam is all the fish i listed are caught on the sames lures i use for walleye and smallies. I just never know whats gonna hit on any cast. To my pleasure that is what gets me jacked up to go now, the wide variety keeps me engaged. Also my wife grew up in the philippines eating fish 3 times a day. She loves to catch walleye to eat and gets excited when she lands a good eater size walleye but when she catches a smallie or largie or anything other than a walleye its just ho hum.

The hourly wage to pay someone to paint them and put them together if not made in 3rd world country would probably break mom and pop. Not a carreer big money job with paid health care and vacation days, just a hey can you lend me a hand this weekend type job.

I would be lost without it. I wear my headlamp in the summer with a mosquito head net which costs under $ 5.00. I only use it in summer to walk the bank or up the rip-rap of a dam bank and to put on new lures or take fish off. In summer I can see pretty good up untill 9:30pm. In the colder fall months when it gets dark out at 7:30pm with no mosquitoes or knats around i use it with no head net. I have been keeping the light on so when i reel my bait in i can check for gunk without fumbling with turning on headlamp. I keep spare batteries in tackle box. Oh and try to manuever around this bank with no light and then climb the rip-rap with all your gear to get out to the top and to the car.

As i look outside at 11:30 pm thursday night i see maybe 1/4 inch to 1/2 on top of my deck with very light snow falling which is supposed to end by midnite. Friday high winds are expected to blow whatever is on the ground and cause blizzard like conditions.

I set out for 2022 to do 3 things. #1 fish rivers #2 catch smallies in river, #3 catch walleye in river. I was awarded a bonus #4 catching muskie in the river. I succeded in all 4. To catch river smallies i inadvertinally caught walleye and muskie all on jerk baits, crankbaits and ballheaded jigs tipped with plastics and real minnows. You will be surprised at my 2 best catches this year. I base my best 2 fish on the lure and rod i caught them on being a $15.00 berkley cherrywood med slow 7 ft with pfleuger president spinning reel, #30 braid with a # 20 lb fluoro leader. Along with their tremendous power, pulling drag along with the difficulty and pure fun of controlling the fish in current, letting it run as to not break my line or bend out the hook to the landing of the fish and actually holding it in my hands. The first fish in the pic i caught on a 1/4 oz ballhead jig with a pink 3inch tube. The 2nd fish, a buffalo fish was caught on a suspending jerk bait.
