  1. Well America did take away their freedom to roam the praires freely. America broke the treaty which gave the Black Hills territory to the natives all on orders from the president in the white house. It started in the Black Hills when gold was discovered and thousands of people came from the east coast to strike it rich. Basically killing off the natives food supply and decimated the buffalo. The calvery chased them from the land all the while the new settlers took over. Didnt work out so well for General George Custer.
  2. NOTE, This is taken from a message board from the midwest. I'm sure some of you have read the article in the Great Lakes Angler magazine of this Title. I just read the article and I'm not real familiar with the type of commercial nets used for gill nets. Can someone explain the nets used? And how often are they used? This article is in the February - March 2023 issue. The last paragraph read as follows: Progressive political leadership at the state level increasingly looked at any issue through race-based lenses these days--even resource management concerns. Tribal negotiators used this as a tool and on a Friday afternoon, last December, the bad news for Michigan's Great Lakes fish populations and the people concerned about them was announced. The newly-signed Consent Decree of 2022 contains changes that will once again permit miles upon miles of fluorocarbon gill nets to indiscriminately catch and kill fish over substantial portions of Michigan's parts of the Great Lakes. NOTE CONTINUED REPLY: This does not surprise me at all. Here in MN the tribes are allowed to use gill nets on some of our big Walleye lakes. Tribes from WI even come over to Lake Mille Lacs and gill nets are used.
  3. Could have been thought up by cavemen its that easy to tie.
  4. I havnt drank since july 2018, but when i did.........
  5. Not that type of Bobcat, this bobcat is a 1 owner 1975 walk behind snow thrower. Dad bought it brand new in 1975. She doesnt want to operate it, she still loves her snow shovels.
  6. IMPACTS: Taken from WDAY storm tracker at 9.30 pm monday. This system has the potential to be the most impactful snow storm that we have seen all winter. Most of the area will receive more that 8″ of snow. Many places could receive 1 - 1.5 FEET of snow, and some places could see up to 2 feet or even a bit more than that. As a result of this much snow and the strong winds, we will have significant region-wide travel disruptions, both on the ground and in the air. We could see power outages, snow drifts over 12′ high, long lasting blizzard conditions. All of these impacts will become dangerous to people, pets, and livestock across the area. The Bobcat will come out to play tuesday evening and again wednesday.
  7. Here are my setups. My favorite rod is the Cherrywood, then the Ugly stick Carbon. The cherrywood i started using last year as i bought it on sale for $12.00, its great for everything i catch in the rivers. Smallies, Lm, walleye, even 40 inch muskies i have caught with the cherrywood. You Just need to know how to fight a fish in current and use the drag properly. I enjoy wearing the fish out with a good fight using Pfleuger reels, 832 braid 30# with Abraisix 20# snelled leaders to the jig. Cherrywood allows me to bomb cast 1/8 oz ballhead jigs and feel the jig bouncing off the rocks in the moving current.
  8. Correct, wife also wants a knife that she doesnt have to sharpen on the rock every minute while she is cleaning the fish, usually at night with only a flashlight for light.
  9. big snow storm headed north dakota way on tuesday night thru wednesday.
  10. Purchased this knife set at an estate sale for $17.00. We were in need of a good long lasting filet knife with some meat on the blade not the cheapo knifes i was purchasing that were as flexable as a razor blade. This kit has not been filet tested by my wife yet but from cutting up meats from the store it sure holds its edge and cuts awesome.
  11. Here is what an otter looks like.
  12. yesterday which was tuesday the 28th i blew the snow we got early in the morning, another 3 inches. here are some pics of my property.
  13. Standing in chest deep water in chest waders with that on would never work for me. If i needed to rerig which i do standing in waist deep water that huge pack means i would have to walk back to shore to access the back of it to get out tackle and such. Everything i bring when wading is around my waist in a fanny pack type bag and 2 other bags slung over my shoulder. All my tackle gets soaked and is under water but when i need to get in them i just pull the fanny pack up my waist and the sling bags just swing them up and out of the water. When i get home empty em out, stuff dries and for my pliers just spray em with wd-40 and good to go.
  14. Yeah it can be boring especially in calm flat water using a bobber. Where wife and i fish around the dams it takes as much effort as any lure. We are throwing ball head jigs, and mooneye hair jigs with a minnow, workin it, skippin it off the bottom, dragging it..... back to shore all the while fighting the river rock snags. We also bobber fish with minnows and watching for your bobber in swift current hiding in the swells coming off the dam keeps you on the lookout. I spooled up our reels with 832 high vis yellow this year to hopefully be able to track our lines better in the current.
