  1. i use a tiny ring of silicon tubing to bolster my Senko worm. i bet i can get 5 fish on a worm before i call it. i have never met grass that shredded my worm. if it is too woody, i go with a tex rig weightless set up.
  2. fast? maybe a relatively fast is best suited for bottom contact where you expect to have occasional moments of slack line. like bouncing a football jig down a tiered bank, going over the random log or rock. when i finally pick up the slack to drop the jig down the next obstacle, if a fish has my jig in it's mouth, i want to know about it ASAP. then it is slama-jamma time. maybe to me, Fast means the speed i get info to my brain from the end of my line, and less about how it bends.
  3. congrats to everything!! and thanks for showing me a new bass i was unaware of. how big do they get?
  4. dang..that color on the Outback wears in nicely. great stuff .
  5. grass is destroying your Senko? wacky rigged? i've tried a few others, but i just think the OG worms catches more fish for me. i think the durability lends to the effectiveness of the worm. it just wiggles right for my local bass population. i imagine it would be a different situation if it was more durable. no telling what a bass sees..but they work for me.
  6. those Nina/Nino things confuse the eff out of me. i just need the weatherman to tell me the basics. grab a jacket fool! wear shorts, dummy. with respect to weather. if i had a bassboat, wind rain wouldnt keep me home, i dont think. what is a bassboats limit to wind? 15mph seems okay, no? can spot lock go beyond that? i have a 10mph wind limit on my kayak. it just sucks holding position, i am no where near swimming at 10, but blowing past spots to quickly to work a plastic bait sucks.
  7. Did OP ever buy a kayak or a truck? this thread ballooned. i am now in the market. i was about to buy a new Tacoma to replace my aging 2006 - Finally! price was acceptable. easy. then i looked out the sparkling windshield, pointed at another truck and asked, "what is that?" salesman exclaims, "why that is the new and lastest generation of Tundra!" oh o. it gets just a bit better MPG, way bigger for rods and dog. just a nice rig. price was less than acceptable. i'm not ready mentally for a truck payment. i dumped that load back in 2008, and vowed to never pay the vig for a vehicle ever again. my wife's Tesla may have flushed the account beyond my new Tundra.
  8. i dont own one. but i know some of you do? was it lights out with the new bait? fish after fish? what about that new chubby club-tailed Yamamoto bait? seems like it went quiet after you all exclaimed, "i got some!" any news?
  9. i think it depends on the body of water. i dont know how many times i have waited for a higher tide to punch a juice looking weed mat. at low tide, there just didnt seem to be enough water under it. or at low tide, i can punch a weed mat because the mat is so wide that i imagine the low tide pushed them towards the outer mat where i could reach with a bait. most days i just fish..and i just watch the wind.
  10. Hahaha. I just blew allergy snot out.
  11. The Deps version drifts better in my friends swimming pool. But even more $ I think. Smaller package.
  12. “Hey Doctor, it hurt when I do this” ”well stop doing it then!” is not an answer to this question. Haha.
  13. i dont like the booyah frog. i cant seem to walk them that well. i have three colors only. white, black, and a realistic color one. i suck with all three. but i use the black one early morning and switch to white when the sun is out..the green one..mixed in. my green one is a Bobby's perfect frog. way easier to walk.
  14. the truck-trailer parking spots is an interesting discussion. our ramp attendant just wants us to park our trucks, two to a spot if we use them. when they painted and laid out the spots, decades ago...they never imagined kayak fishing. there are precious few regular parking spots. the trailer spots are the closer ones. they send the regular parker to the boonies. sucks when dragging a kayak. but boater are lazy!! hahha..just kidding. i appreciate the exercise. there is a tension always between kayaker and boaters anyways. we are the road cyclist of the water..boats are the diesel trucks rolling coal. hahahha.
  15. @Glenn response was the opposite of helpful. almost judgey!! haha..but here, i hope i can help. i use the Alberto. i gave up on the FG which i can tie, but suck at finishing. the Alberto keeps me happy. (and sane). i assume you know how to go around and around to and fro. as i start to tighten it all down, i wet it down. i get it to where it is bunching up neatly. then! i wet my knot down with fishing line glue. the stuff that hardens with a UV light. it is greasy almost when it is un-cured. on my kayak i just use lake water, or my saliva. then i pull it all tight. when you clip it, be carefull not to clip beyond the tag end. i bet you are going in tight and you weakend a loop? i used to do that all the time. now i put on my reading glasses, use sharp cutters and get adequate lighting to get the cutting done. my Alberto's are tiny! one of my great joys associated with fishing are the darn knots. i like knowing my knots are reliable. similar to those guys that find joy in catching fish on homemade lures. we are just one more step into the process. weird, i know. but i love my involment and participation.
  16. i kind of agree with @Delaware Valley Tackle. i have an SLX. mine is DC. myMGL reels are awesome. definately better but it isnt always obvious. what is obvious is the rigididty of the reel. under the load of a big fish, i swear i can feel the SLX flex and creak. it does it so often i am always checking the reel seat tightening nut thing thinking it came loose. nope. it is the reel. i'll get the 150 Curado DC one day. for science. test it out.
  17. i'm no expert..but i think it would be easier to paint the kayak and make it look better. i would learn to live with the white, personally. i think it might look good initially, but wear and tear and parts moving and sliding, it wont down the road.
  18. lots of topwater. you all have the topwater combo as your best combo?
  19. @Glenn i ordered those. true story: 3 packs. i ordered three of various weights. i added a few favorite soft plastics to bring it up above $50 to get the free shipping. i just recieved my shipping notification. i am only getting the soft plastics in the first box. no mention of the weights. hahahha.. i think i have 3 bell shaped 1/8 tungstens i can use this weekend. i had forgotten about them. or i can widen a regular dropshot sinker and install a lure clip as the "hoop". those bass are not gonna catch themselves. on then bright side, i now own a LOT of my favoriite plastics. no more nursing them to health on deck.
  20. What about new modern replacements like the Megabass ORC burning shad? It’s close. Or the OSP Buzzin Crank?
  21. My plain Jane suffix flies right.
  22. Never considered one line over another w respect to casting distance.
  23. @Captain Phil 100%. i think it played a part of keeping me out of any major trouble. fishing and hunting. but beyond that, i think teaching a kid to enjoy reading and doing math is actually even more important. kids that know calculus and real books dont get into trouble either. at all relatively. i got into some fishing trouble at the local "no fishing" golf courses...just saying.
  24. awesome!! right now, i am using a Fury 733 with a Curado 150, and 12lb Sunline Sniper. i am kicking butte. but the rod is okay..just okay. i really need to be pulling gently with rod tip just preloaded to notice anything good is happening on the end. the best thing about the rod is i can cast baits easily. just a flick of the arm wrist..and i am accurate.
  25. dang..that is like 4 different rod setups for me. 5 if you get a warm glow from the topwater..
