Those nasty ticks.
i just got back from a guided hike with a biologist. she lectured. we could see ticks on grass blades. if you put your hand nearby, those little mofo's can move fairly quickly towards your hand. (she said the bugs track heat and CO2) i kept my wife and i mid pack, and let the group ahead of us sweep for bugs with their legs.

Kayak trailering w/ Torqeedo
i think it comes on/off easy. tool-less. im with Bankc on this one. i have seen kayak crack in the weirdest places with sanctioned regular use. a motor cantilevered off the end with cyclic loading...no thanks.

Ever had a day like this?
your repair. fast!! awesome! oh..the prop stripped. i thought it was the hub that stripped. my boat nomenclature is non existent.

I’m Back!
never heard of him before.

Ever had a day like this?
whats the lead-time for a repair like this? my bud is potentially screwed. Hobie has a 6-month back order on parts.

Ever had a day like this?
YUP exactly. i call it "Saturday" well no free grill grub. it was my friend. just 100 yards off the ramp, his kayak broke a pedal drive cable. me being the AWESOME friend that i am grabbed his kayak (he grabbed mine) and i pulled him from cove to cove..for 8 hours. at the cove he could limp around with the pedal drive and paddle, but on the long hauls. i was the mule. i was fine until i got home. my legs were gassed and my back sore. i did yoga-like stretches all night and now i feel fine. This is the equivalent of your spun prop hub for a Hobie Kayak.

when you buy donuts or bagels by the dozen....?
do you ponder choices and order one by one..maybe 2 by 2? or do you say, i need an assorted dozen, nothing fruit filled (or whatever)? dealers choice. i am the second type. i buy for my office team all the time. i just let the person fill a dozen.

Well come to find out!
i'm a disaster waiting to happen. my phone is in peril on my kayak.

Explain Shimano MGL for dummies like me
its lighters so start up energy is less, and it takes less energy to stop the lighter weight spool. your thumb still needs active involvement. it's just a physics problem. the example above about the sports car is okay. the sports car's lightass wheels are the better analogy.

$350.00 to spend on Baitcaster
if you want to stay with domestic shopping. the Hookup Tackle has a Daiwa Alpha Air for sale for $300. Me, i would go overseas and try the Bantam. but that is just me.

comparing drag specs of a spinning reel vs baitcasting.
I kinda agree. That single main shaft is essentially the flag pole question from college days.

Is there a better 200 sized casting reel for 1-3 oz swimbaits than a Curado K?
i throw Swimbaits with a Curado 200k. very low drama reel. i have zero issues. the baits fly like birds. i have never even thought about the reel while fishing. i have especially never thought, "hmmm wish this had T-wing line thing..." you seriously cant go wrong with the choices above.

Show your ride...
like @LrgmouthShad, i am loving the bone Outback. i havent put it back onto the two sawhorsees yet. i thought i would fish today. but NOPE. i love this boat.

Yay! I i found a great bait even more $$ than a Yamamoto Senko.
i like!! i actually told my bud loudly, "i'm getting hit on the Beaver!!" i might need to give the bait a code-name.

WOW. my fishing skills atrophied over the long winter!!!
i cant pitch like a pro from my driveway. off a bassboat, it goes awry i bit. i blame my buds trash talking. he is the best trash talker on the planet.

when i hopped the bait, the "claws" would kick like a mermaid..okay a dolphin. maybe better if i compared it to something that exists. porpoise kicks. tantilizingly. the hit was always on the hop..never on the dead stick.

comparing drag specs of a spinning reel vs baitcasting.
Thanks. I get that. but I’m just trying to compare apples to oranges, I think. By numbers purely, I can wrestle a big peacock with my Vanford 2500. my guide recommends garden variety Curado K’s. Those I have.

comparing drag specs of a spinning reel vs baitcasting.
i am planning and shopping for an exotic fishing vacation hunting giants. i typically dont deep-dive much into reel specs. not the minutia stuff. i do know my 2500 Vanford has a 20 lb drag at max, and my Curado 150 has 13 (i think). what does this mean in the real world? a person can control a bigger fish sprint/run with a spinning? maybe i need more coffee at the moment. i think a fish is easier to manhandle with a BC reel. (boiling some more water now)

Spinning gets the nod
no harm in trying!! kudos. i do admit, there is a special joy in feeling, watching, hearing a big fish peel line from a spinning reel. there is no substitute. i have had big fish on BC reels, but it seems so less dramatic. probably my subconcious thinking spinning is supposed to be for UL stuff.

Truth. the d**n bellow gill....grrrr. but at least i can punch these, and use as trailers.. or feed to the seagulls.

unbelievable. i fished in a rain storm yesterday, and the fish were super picky. i tried reaction baits and got no love. wacky Senko was sniffless. i found this pack of plastics i bought on a whim, when i ordered a few O$P and Deps$ crankbaits. i rigged one, on my texas rig because i was too lazy to retie a free-rig. texas rig it is!! first cast, i felt the unmistakeable buzz of electricity on the end of the line. i lean into it and boat a 1.5. after that it was on! i tried a small brush hog, a z-man craw, another creature and i got ZERO. switch back to the newbie bait and wham. even my tried and true drop shot was a waste of "bringing that rod" i was thinking to myself..why do the bass like this one? dunno. i vowed to find a cheaper replacement. i went to bed. i woke up last night and ordered 6 packs. hahahha.. the OSP Dolive line of baits is madness. i ordered more and will try it on the CA Delta and Clearlake. i dont think they see it that often. yesterday's MVP was the Dolive Beaver. 3.5" kinda small, so i ordered the 4" version for a bit more bulk. they are every bit as fragile as a Yamamoto Senko. in Business talk i think they call it, "built in obsolesence". but the fragility lends the bait a wiggle wobble that apparently works. i think pitching the 4" into the weeds is gonna kill it. yesterday, even my best finesse jig game was unanswered.

I had a blast and I’m exhausted. Haha.

WOW. my fishing skills atrophied over the long winter!!!
i went fishing today. rainy has heck, but i brought rain gear. i had to go thru my gear twice to make sure i didnt forget anything. right when i got to the lake, i put a dropshot hook into a finger...just to the barb. i stepped in too deep, getting on my kayak and water went over my boot. tying a lure, i hooked the line twice on my sunglasses and flipped them overboard, once. (my dropshot rig did a 1 in a 1000 move and hooked an earpiece). i dropped my net without noticing and found it deep in the bushes. i almost capsized trying to save a $20 crankbait. my casting ACCURACY was nowhere to be found. i casted into the trees 5x. i could barely cast to shore. cast ON SHORE, not a problem a knot was suspect and i sent a spinnerbait to infinity (and beyond). they actually fly pretty well without line connected to them. i pulled my truck so far down the ramp i didnt have room to reverse my kayak to put it into the truck. had to get in and scoot up. i did manage to catch a mix bag of LMB and smallies. took my friends to the clinic. i did well, catching fish. if i could hit my targets i would have killed more. wow, winter was Loooooonnnnngggg! hopefully tomorrow is better.
