Why an expensive rod?
Great replies. I’ll add one I didn’t see in my quick scan. spiral wrapped fibers. (Think that’s what the kids these days call it). a rod manufacturer can adjust the rod action anywhere along the shaft. Now you have the best of all the worlds. Good solid back bone with a soft gentle tip for casting. Yet sensitive enough to feel a bass Side eye your senko. no more building rods to the natural spine of the blank. A fish pulls left, rod bends with it. No torquing. I hope I got all that right. It’s howy mind understands it.

Need a GOOD spinnerbait
My friend put on a clinic in Mexico with a Picasso. The pivot head was great. He would walk it slow along the bottom. He was laughing maniacally at me. Just boat flipping w a spinner bait. I stole one from his bag asap, and got to work myself.

Fishing gloves.
Just got a pair of Fish Monkeys. They look okay. I’ll wear them Saturday having said that, the best ones are Simms Guide Gloves. Saving a pair for my travel fishing trips. I gave a spare pair to my Amazon fishing guide and he was parading them to his buds.

I’m not a carpenter and I have limited tools, but I made a thing.
I have a triangular shaped thumb when I cut myself. The doc said he had to rob Paul to move skin around to fix it. I can’t even hear a table saw start up without grimacing

yea. I had to lean my graph down so it contacted the track..like a downed tree. it jiggled crazy. felt it would eventually lead to a cracked hull. this mitigates the issue. a rod holder trolling a big weight, wasn't happening. now I got a shot. still need to make the second one.

I can buy this. But… we’ll just but. I need two and I felt it was within my wheelhouse. Coping saw, the store bought version borrowed off my friends kayak as the template , drill… I got this. Mounting accessories on the rail is okay. Things wobble. But if I bridge the h-rail to the track, things get sturdy. It isn’t super pretty but it worked. I had the plastic shim materials, and I bought $6 worth of stainless hardware. Boom. hope this makes sense. The Hobie Outback really benefits from this simple plate. I have an irrational fear of tablesaws, so that wasn’t an option.

Japan Tariffs
Great point. my next reel will be for salt water. Was aiming at a Shimano, but I think I’m going with an Avet reel because it is domestic. thrilled to actually have an option.

That was an awesome resource. Thanks.

Japan Tariffs
I'm curious what the prices are going to be at the source. if I remember my 8th grade economics class correctly; the cost of tariffs are always passed to the consumer. it is supposed to. makes the domestic produced competitive products look better cost wise by comparison.. trouble starts if there is no domestic product, or very little. like coffee. come on!! coffee I predict will get stupid. or the grass piece. hahahahah... I think it will be more expensive in Japan as well.

Fishing critic
it is a sad truth in life that for every single activity, there is a critic. some even vocalize it. take a Wake boat, or Jet ski. what? to easy? live and let live I say. and if they complain, ignore them. zero Fox giveth.

I just started learning this. I spiked a big fish with my knife. It was more effort than I expected, but I did hit the brain.

Getting Ready, Help with Wintertime Bass Fishing
Lipless cranks. Fished off the bottom similar to a jig bigger swim baits. Creep them along the bottom. I have A hundo saved for a TinyKlash for just this purpose.

Topwater reel size
My topwater reel is a Curado 150DC. first. I love the distance second: the DC. When a wolf-pack starts in on the topwater feeding frenzy, I do not typically keep my cool. If I’m gonna backlash, that’s as good a time as any. now I fire fast, I fire far. But f I miss, my second shot isn’t a wild mess into a deep backlash.

a guy flipped his kayak in the surf. Total yardsale. We all jumped to help. After gathering up his stuff and helping him set off upright. I realized my sunglasses were no longer on my head. I looked around my truck and kayak. Nothing. I went back to the beach. I see an ear-piece poking out! Oh no! I pull them out. The waves pounded and buried them. Not common sunglasses either. I looked at my trusty sunglasses aftermarket lens seller REVANT. They had them! $49. im gonna use leashes from this point forward. I hate how they fit with a Buff face covering, but I’ll figure something out.
