  1. WOOF!! we are warm weather right now..AND my garbage bag holding the Halibut and Striper guts blew up in my garbage bin!! I almost vomited when I got downwind. it was RIPE!!! RIPE! I just hosed it out....(Shiver!!!) hahahhahahhahahh...heat domed my garbage bin.
  2. the NOAA Weather "tabular data" function allows you to anticipate the wind each hour you expect to fish. in the main lake outside of Braitos, and StatePark the waves get wild. at Statepark, it seems like the waves are always 45 degs from the direction i hope to go.
  3. been pretty good month for me. no tackle purchases for the most part.
  4. sooo...no for sale thread ? ha...glad you love it. i love mine. i have two, and will pick up one more in Tokyo, november. the reel manages line beautifully. and i dont mind the silver/chrome look. i would take one in that weird flesh color all the kids use from the crayon box to color in people...:D Aesthetics is 3rd/4th.
  5. I sent a V110 onto shore with too much enthusiasm on my cast and shattered the bill. good times. On and I hit my friends shallow water anchor once as well. all good. Easier to stomach when it’s your own mistake that play the lure.
  6. i am a poop expert. (that could have come out better) why i like it. it casts like a dream weightless. i skips better than anything. i tend to attract the bigger bass (3.5" size?). i like the thump i get fishing it. it is different that a slowly sinking stick bait. just something new. i am 0% on the fuzzy dice. 0.0%
  7. can you budget in a PPI? pre purchase inspection?
  8. i'm glad they caught that nutjob. i heard he was just getting warmed up.
  9. those bass need to eat more!! skinny huh? i have yet to get yelled at from shore, but i'm expecting it. i'm ready with my deep breathing exercises and full on ignoring skills.
  10. thanks. i am taking this as gospel, and the solution. great explanation.
  11. I'm casually shopping. Avet, Penn, Okuma, and Shimano all have options. very interesting!! right now off my kayak, I am running a Lexa 300 with the big single handle. seems okay. but I will need a second rig one day.
  12. my birthday is in July. she think I can bail on work, NEXT JULY!!! tell you what, that is kinda exciting news to me. I run the house. cooking, cleaning, yard work, the dog and his never ending poops..all me!! ...I dont mind. I enjoy most of it. I cant stand emptying the dishwasher, so she does do that part. my wife's superpower is taking care of the money. tight leash. again, I dont mind. I would in no way be able to retire 2026 without her taking the reins. I will be forever grateful for her understanding of economics and finance. hahah...I hear something like "bonds" and my eyes glaze over.. now it is up to me. I need to line up my retirement. I plan of sorts. If I dont have a plan, I will postpone. circle of friends, hobbies, etc.....LETS DO THIS!!!
  13. I would if I could, but I cant, so I won't. and I cant catch much with a bladed jig, so GTG
  14. I only pack one type. a Flappin Hog. the smaller one. I have some leftover brush hogs as well.
  15. I need answers. haha.. I used a borrowed reel. from a company called Accurate. it had a lever-drag which I thought was cool. It was made to simply drop baits/lures down. I dont think it's made for casting. (maybe I'm wrong). I you lever up and full-lock the drag. here is my question. why do saltwater reels NOT have line guides. I had to use my thumb to move the line left-right to lay it down evenly on the spool. the reel had the best feeling drag ever. it made ZERO noise. none. I had to look at the reel sometimes to make sure the line was coming in, when I was horsing in a fish. my bud says he is constantly buying old discontinued Accurate reels. the new ones are crazy money. why dont some saltwater reels not have line guides. I dont see the downside to having one.
  16. Sorry. Only picture I have of (some) of it. And I didn’t get seasick!
  17. my take. for your situation, I would run a section of flouro leader. a short section. 12"-18" maybe. here's why. you have treble hook baits in your list above. I ALWAYS put a section of braid on to simply stiffen up the line running right to the bait. on some casts, the lure will spin around mid flight like a drunken sparrow. the stiffer flouro will add some line "backbone" (cant think of a better word) so your bait will land un-troubled by the line. there is nothing fun about working back a bait and it is spiraling, coming in sideways, etc because the braid got tangled in the treble hooks. do that a few time and you will have line twist. the short section also will not add too much weight and pull your topwater bait underwater. the short section can also stay outside your line guides on the cast and be of zero influence. when I fish OK, it is 95% topwater. I tie on a 1" section of 16lb flouro and virtually eliminate the trebles getting into the braid. I broke this rule last Saturday and I had trebles going into the braid and I had to cut it all off and re-tie my lure.
  18. this makes sense if you dont have the money to plunk down on something newer/better. prices on good newer used vehicles is tall hurdle for people. you hopefully chose wisely when you bough the existing rig and keep it on the road, while saving money. I have some friends that keep kicking the "saving money" hurdle over.
  19. Is version 2.0 nicer? Haha. Just kidding. Cant wait to see new avatar chosen.
  20. this makes me smile. so much truth to this. hahahha
  21. that is low miles. I would fix it. it is weird all the tires went wonky separately. could be anything. the alt? yea..bad apple probably. I bet your battery is limping at this point with bad-love from an alternator. the alternator isn't covered by the Ford Warranty? any suspension bits like bushings that went bad and trashed your tires sound like warranty stuff as well. or did all that expire? I dont buy fords, so I dont know their warranty details. some (very) friendly constructive criticism if you dont mind. you say you are a nut for maintenance on your vehicles. you gotta keep an eye out for uneven tire wear. i almost habitually look at tire treads. even if I get into a friends car for lunch, I've been known to comment, "oh..almost time for tires?" when I wash my cars, I finger the tire tread. always. I am also a nut for maintenance. and I get them rotated. back to your ford. if you are not under warranty, I would get an independent shop to look into the troubles.
  22. I know that meadow. I think. that the one with the fence around it, and it has cattle? strawberry has no fence, I think. dunno, its been awhile. I was 30lbs lighter when I hiked it. we actually went way higher to a set of lakes I hesitate to even type out. the trout for sure has never seen a person. they were DUMB.
  23. my biggest mistake is listening to people...in a bad way. the guy fishing the finger lakes telling me bait-X is killing it, shouldn't mean much to me on the other side...it could, but I could suck as well. I now fish my own game. I love the information, but I have to keep in mind I am in different waters. this is not an exact science.
  24. I have a really good city lake near my house. 7 minute drive. if I was goofy, I bet I could drag my kayak on a cart there, on a dare. a double dog dare. my one buddy fishes it non stop. I havent been. despite the rumors of 6-7lb fish being caught.. it is missing that wilderness adventure feeling for me. SUP passing me, kayak classes passing me. dogs catching frisbees in the water. no thanks. I'll fish that place if I am recovering from a flu.
