  1. You can charge the batteries faster but they will lose discharge cycles (basically lose total life) if you do. I charge my battery on 6amps which is fairly slow, and takes more than a night for a full charge, but I've seen chargers that will run on 40amps and charge the whole thing in an hour. It just comes at a cost to the battery's longevity...
  2. Nope! Its working fine. The motor is putting a huge draw on the battery relative to everything else you're using, and the decreased voltage is how the battery reacts to load. If it makes you feel any better I have a completely identical setup, 55lb motor, 20' cable and everything else on a seprate panel. Mine does the same thing.
  3. I used cheap outdoor carpeting on my boat. No rubber backing or anything at all like that just carpet to wood. Have thus far had zero problems in two seasons with this carpet setup. My floor is sealed with Thompson's Water Sealer.
  4. I would think the only thing you could do would be wire the batteries to a switch and use one at a time. Wiring them together will give you direct 24 volts. With a switch you could also run them on the same charging bank, just use the switch to charge them one at a time.
  5. Dewitt, what city are you in? I'm in Sterling Heights, and my cottage is up by Oscoda. Drop me a PM and I can hook you up with these kinds of things around here.
  6. Ohh man those are easy to find. Any fishing section should have bass jigs, the lead heads with rubber skirts and a weed guard? And the Pig part is a piece of pork rind or plastic "Chunk"
  7. My place is two doors down from the launch. Man you can sit there all day and watch these people. I should post some videos. We position chairs and "rate" the launchers from 1 to 10. Great fun. I'd have to say my favorite was one guy who came in with an old 5 speed Bronco and a 26 footer. He did alright getting it in, but then the extraction was another story. He got it on the trailer and started to pull it up and his clutch went right as it took the load. The whole rig starts rolling back into the drink. He hit the E brake right before the engine went under, but he didn't save the interior. Of course, he wasn't a fisherman. lol Good laughs.
  8. Well, you can't hurt yourself to go long. Most boats come 42.
  9. I use the expanding type. No issue. You really shouldn't have to open it though. I leave mine closed all the time unless I take on water (which has happened) I'll take it out on the trailer to dry it.
  10. Sounds like a throttle body issue. Check the carb and throttle cables etc.
  11. Ouch, memories and pain come back... Try getting one of those out 12 hours into Canada....
  12. I've got the same aluminum holding my floor up. Solid as a rock, love it. I used 5/8" ply on top instead of the typical 3/4" and have had no issues.
  13. I've got a 60 amp circuit on mine so if it trips I can reset it. Took forever to find, got it at an electrical supply store in Detroit.
  14. Hehe my buddies and I once held a canoe together with a 1x2 and duct tape. Lasted flawlessly for a whole day.
  15. Yes, you can test it with a volt meter. Full is about 13.5v and dead is 11.6 or so. I'm not sure I understand your question here. You need to charge your battery every time you go out. The battery will go through around 3-500 charge cycles.
  16. Ranger Champion Skeeter Triton Bass Cat
  17. If you've never tried it, fire up the sonar with the boat out of the water and stick your ear up to the transducer, you can hear it clicking.
  18. For 20-25000 you can buy a NICE used Ranger which is the way to go. I've been feverishly researching, and havn't heard a bad thing about them. People complain about the price, which is admittedly significantly higher, but the quality follows suit. Then again for the same price you could get a Nitro with a 300OptiMax. Guess if you like repairs and wasted days on the water, its the way to go.
  19. Nice 'eyes man. The Michigander is impressed.
  20. Fishing line in those props is nasty. Make sure you take the prop off and give it a thourough inspection. I have seen the line chew right through the prop shaft itself when its on there long enough. Check your prop for chips, and check your prop shaft to make sure its alright.
  21. Yes it will work, but the deal is this. The starter might draw the same amps as a trolling motor, but its drawing them in a very short time. It is hard on a deep cycle battery, but it will work. Solve all your issues and buy an AGM battery.
  22. Out of curiousity, where would a Skeeter fit in quality wise?
  23. I use one on my boat instead of the plug, works great. However, I found one that doubles as a circuit, so it trips if say, you're TM arced to your hull. Mines rated at 75 amps I believe but you could probably find a bigger one. Its a master shut off for the whole boat, which is great cause if I flip that switch I know nothing can be drawing on it.
  24. I would expect the two stroke to get you out of the hole quicker but be shy on the top end, and a little of the opposite on the four. The two will have more of a "bite" if you will, where the four will run smoother at higher speed.
  25. The cable is set up that way to create magnetic fields that help generate your signal. From what I've heard that's a death sentence for the transducer. Perhaps and electrician could fix it if he knew what was up, but my dad who's an electrical engineer couldn't so you might be out of luck.
