  1. I'd use either 12lb big game or 30/40lb Power Pro. Classically I prefer the braid for feel and don't find that it fouls too many casts with the top water. It also helps the topwater action in particular with a moderate rod. Personally I fish most topwater on my XF jerkbait rod, but occasionally use my CB rod as a backup.
  2. I lost my first frog bite this year...even though I know what to do, it is HARD.
  3. 99.99999% of new frog anglers set the hook WAY early. It is SUPER hard to not. So exciting to watch, but your eyes deceive you, the rod however should not.
  4. Awesome, I've had Covid and zero energy the past 3 weeks so I haven't been out. Going to winterize the boat today...but will hope for another nice day in the next couple weeks for one last hurrah.
  5. Bet it is just wired wrong then.
  6. Is it stock? Aftermarket distributor by chance? stock tach? Aftermarket ones have a switch for pulses per rev.
  7. I built mine to 7'10" when I had 8' rod lockers.
  8. Hey now, I am not that short. 6'7"....although I have no idea how you know what height I am.

Triangle smokers window and space to work on your engine easily. The rest have been said. The biggest one I miss is the crotch cooler.
  10. I use a 7'10" rod for jigs unless dock skipping and then I drop to a 7'2". I find the longer rod allows better pitches, more sensitivity, and allows me to peg the fish more easily.
  11. More seriously, when exactly is the wrong time to throw a frog?
  12. All the time. My motto is when in doubt, throw a frog. ....as for the slow stuff, I didn't drop a drop shot once this year. Thank god!
  13. In a 2 hour trip I will minimally throw 6 different rods. Baits may change as well. If I am out longer then add more. Exceptions are if the frog bite is on, it'll be all frogs but even then I throw a few different ones.
  14. Tell her to stop driving with both feet....
  15. I have merino wool base and mid layers. It is by far the best material for any layering system until it gets absurdly cold and then I go to downs in the mid layer. I have high end synthetic stuff too and it is awful in comparison. Synth stuff stinks like hell if you do work in it and doesn't deal with moisture anywhere near as well. Converted pretty much all my socks to merino as well. Don't hesitate. As for brands, get the ones that fit the best. You want it to fit pretty tight on the base, over sizing is not ideal.
  16. 10k/10k isn't so great for breathability or waterproofing. For the same price the Eddie Bauer is 20k/20k. Jackets with eVent or Gore also will outperform them, but for more dough.
  17. Excluding frogs, fast...but including them the answer is slow.
  18. I like it all....but sadly we can't harvest like you do with fishing. Amusing to me that most hunters want a deer with a big rack. I want a baby in comparison. There is a reason most steers are harvested just after they become full grown and not when they are 20 years old...
  19. 7' MHF SC LE blank made into a 7'10" rod. I may have it kicked out to a full 8' now if it broke and I had it remade. I used to only have 8' rod lockers so 7'10" was a safer fit.
  20. Oh, I need them all. How else am I going to feel good about my rod collection?
  21. It is GREAT for that. Even just the added confidence that you made it back to the spot you marked...
  22. I think a longer rod would help you more than anything. I don't even need to thumb 50 on a frog if there is no wind. Everytime I throw one on a short rod it is a different story. 8' or so is the sweet spot for casting frogs IMO.
  23. Your "neighbor" confused the 1700 install with tax. The battery is normally sold as a refurb for $8800. Lots of info on the internet to try to sink EV's. That car is a piece of crap and an abomination, but the customer copy above was made for a message not a customer.
  24. And of course the only time that remote will fail is when the water is below 38F. Then it will be "oh so satisfying" to watch him recover it.
