  1. I bought a Met DC to try out the DC and wish it was not DC. Bought it for my spinner/buzz bait rod to throw in the wind and find it does save me from needing as much fun but at the cost of distance. Figured it'd be a good one to teach my boys in as well. Still a great reel, but will be my only DC.
  2. If you want to fish clean up in the back behind some moving lures I would change to a jig/tube or other fast falling presentation and solely pitch/cast to spots where you hope to get a reaction strike. Great target practice and a lot of fun, but no time to "retrieve" a slow lure behind a couple burners. Plenty of time to cast and drop to targets though.
  3. My boat. It's parked in the garage and you can reach the totes that have backup everything from the boat....can't from the ground but that was intentional. Having nearly 12' ceiling helps
  4. Yes. If you've ever owned Birkenstocks and not treated the cork and compared with ones that were treated you would quickly make sure to do all of your rods.
  5. I like shimano brakes better than daiwa brakes for frogging, but only for the extra few feet I can cast. For techniques like skipping or shallower casts you can flip that sentiment.
  6. And very possible that motor will cost you more than the boat and motor will be worth once you plop it in. Get a quote and boat shop as well.
  7. If you break off at your knot....your knot is the reason you broke off. It may not be the sole reason, but considering it was multiple I'd revisit what you use and how you tie it.
  8. For the detangle alone they are worth it. Add to that they protect the guides and blank makes them a critical piece of gear imo.
  9. Birkenstocks or Birkenstocks or Birkenstocks. Can't imagine wearing Crocs on a boat, you guys must not swear easily. Support is key and the cork beds are brilliant at that
  10. Work puts me in Europe 3-4x a year. Used to go to Asia a bunch as well, but that's mostly over. Not really so worried about it. If you are hitting 3rd world spots then it's a different story.
  11. Green frog. /Thread As for rods, depends on the cover. Usually either a 904 that I built out to 7'10" or an SCV MHF at 7'10", but if it is tighter over head cover and 844 GLX at 7'2". Some other choices if necessary but always a green frog.
  12. Lord, on Tonka there are more $80k+ bass boats on a normal weekend than in the biggest tournament there ever is. That being said, since it rained on opener I saw the least amount of fishing boats that I ever had. Even a spot open on the Carson Bay ramp...albeit a private ramp, but I've never seen that before on opener. Hopefully the covid fishing itch is waning locally.
  13. Seton showed 65 on the Phoenix today. Couldn't get a bite on it, but that was after rain and the front shut everything off. Before that in the two hours landed a just under 5, a 4 and a few in the threes. Main lake was up over 60.
  14. SC5 should be warranty-able. Obviously have to work with your builder on putting it back together, but that's a great blank.
  15. Last week we had it...but the lake was still frozen. It'll come!
  16. Just saw that. My boat is in the garage and ready to go!
  17. Feed makes a HUGE difference. As for the breed. Any Angus / Holstein cross can be legally sold as Angus so guess what is in the grocery store in the Angus containers? The black hair is so dominant it is really rare that they even look different. Occasionally in a cross breed you will get a white splotch which lowers the market price (stupidly). As for feed and taste. I can smell the difference in the milk from dairy cows the instant their diet changes from stored grain to fresh to grass etc. Huge difference. It also effects the meat. Personally if you were to raise one again I would focus much more on nutrition than grass. The whole grass fed animals are better is a huge misnomer IMO. Of course I am a monstrous fan of kobe/wagyu and breeds that are bred and more importantly raised for marbling development. I've butchered "pure" holsteins that were fed a milking diet that had marbling that make ANY prime Angus in any grocery store look like grass fed organic coop nonsense. So yes, feed and finishing makes a huge difference. Same in hogs btw.
  18. The best Kamado style you can afford. Personally I find a 22" way too big for most uses, but on a daily basis for a family of 4 I use a 13.5" Kamado Joe Jr. It's AMAZING at how little natural lump it uses and everything tastes great on it. I have a larger one as well for entertaining, but the little guy is big enough to do a whole pork butt, small turkey, chicken, a couple monster steaks, or burgers for 4. The bigger the grill and the less insulated the more charcoal you use. Weber's are fine but everything cooked on a kamado style grill will be easier, have more moisture, and taste better.
  19. As often as I can! I love Topwater in all seasons, but live on a deep water focused lake.
  20. Spare trolling motor prop on the boat, stainless prop in my truck and 2 more in my garage. Have a full toolbox in my boat. It is the only guarantee that makes me not need it.
  21. I grew up with the Scheel kids. Crazy to see their success. Out of all big box stores they are by far the best although you can imagine my bias.
  22. Bring it!! Sled is tuned up, filled with gas and ready to rip. Can't wait. The Lake is in dire need of water as well.
  23. Yep, does wonders. Fish fry works!
  24. Y'all beat me. I forgot to make picks.
  25. I have a kicker...albeit electric, but love it. Enjoy the Ranger!
