  1. That is a nice smallie. Pound for pound they fight much harder than largemouth bass.
  2. So i was fishing a local pond, when i saw a huge triploid grass carp. This thing had to be at least 3 1/2- 4 feet long. I am now determined to catch the thing. These things main diet is obviously grass, and i was wondering if anyone has had any luck catching these specific type of carp and what they have used.
  3. Yeah i have got one on a spinnerbait and one on a black tube. Both times only to realize it was a catfish. The catfish i caught on the tube, i caught using 6lb test and it took like 10 minutes to reel in, i was pretty livid when i saw that ugly thing istead of the monster bass i was expecting.

I am with lightninrod, i would much rather be sweating while fishing, then freezing while fishing.
  6. If you fishing with spinning reels, they are extremly easy to service yourself. I have a nice Penn spinning reel, and it there are probably like 3 or 4 internal parts.

Yeah i used to get mine at Dicks, but i feel like the last time i was there they didnt have any. I was talkign to a guy that worked at Dicks, and he said that they often switch suppliers, so they may no longer carry them.
  8. I do pretty much the same thing as roadwarrior, clean exterior after every time i fish, and clean the insides over the winter.
  9. Yum Dingers work pretty well.
  10. I use to fish the hollow bodied frogs alot, but now i just mainly stick to horny toads and sizmic toad. The hollow bodied frogs since they are so light are difficult to cast, with a heavy lb test
  11. Crankbaits, i have a bunch of them, but since i am fishing from the shore 90% of the time i never use them.
  12. If you have Direct TV, there is a an outdoor channel (604 on my box) that has a lot of good fishing shows on it.
  13. welcome
  14. That is a really nice fish.

Its been 99+ here the last few days in richmond. On the issue of taking pictures, someone needs to invent a really lightweight tripod, that attaches to your tacklebox, that way you can get yourself in the picture with the fish.
  16. I would reel it in fast about 3 turns, then just let it suspend for like 2 or 3 seconds. I think pretty much all my bites came when it was suspending. I dont really enjoy fishing them either. i just threw it out there on a random whim, because nothing else was really producing.
  17. I caught this 20.5 inch, 5lber on a X-Rap slashbait. Its my new PB for '07 This is the first time i have fished suspending jerkbaits in the summer, i usually just use them in late winter/early spring. Has anyone else been using or having any luck fishing suspending jerkbaits this summer.
  18. I took Road Warriors advice and igot some black with blue flake, and i have been catching a ton of fish on them. ONly regret is only getting one bag.
  19. The spinnerbaits arent bad, but i dont really care for the buzzbaits. You have to fish them way to fast to keep them on the surface.

I really like the terminator finesse jigs also.
  21. i would say right around 3lbs, its not very fat. Still a nice fish, anything over 3lbs is picture worthy in my book.
  22. I bought a little 30 dollar Browning Ultralight rod/reel, and it is a ton of fun catching fish. I currently have 4lb test on it, and it works pretty well. The pond i fish with it in has very little junk in it so it works pretty well. Did loose around a 3lb fish last week, because the fish snapped my line on the dock.
  23. I have tried fishing with the unbalanced rod, and it is just not comfortable to fish with. I went ahead and bought the basspro shops balance kit, and it should be here tomorrow. i will let people know what i think of it next monday.
