Caught and released these two today. Had to let ‘em go due to lake rules. Kept 5 others for filleting. Add to that another 5 dinks and I’d call it a pretty good day.

Best bait for small bass
I saw in another thread where they were talking about throwing road runners. No experience with them myself. I will say this. One of the best pieces of advice I've ever gotten was when an old timer told me to quit chasing after that latest and greatest magic bait. Hard to beat that classic TR worm or a wacky rig.

Best bait for small bass
I've caught some nice ones on it when they're busting shad. An erratic retrieve usually does the trick. Be aware of the depth of the area you're throwing it though. It is a sinking bait an those trebles love stumps and submerged cover.

Best bait for small bass
I've found a blue/chrome rattletrap to be good for schooling bass as well.

Latest Catch Pics Thread
On Monday, I lost what would have been my PB because I was too tentative setting the hook. Last night, I went back to the same spot thinking, "I know where you live big girl." I get there and cast a wacky rigged watermelon/red flake. I hop it a couple of times and there it was...that telltale tap...tap. I set the hook like I'm gonna rip her tail out. DINK. Well shoot. Maybe she's still there but a little further up the log. This time I toss a TR Zoom curly tail, watermelon seed. Again, tap...tap...and this time....ANOTHER DINK. Oh well, perhaps another day. The evening wasn't a total loss. I caught another 5-6. This one was the best of the lot @ 2.51 lbs.

Fishing Alone
Like others, I have a couple guys I fish with. Some I used to fish with more than others. Then they got their own boat, and like me, they prefer to fish out of their own boat so they have all the stuff they need. I enjoy taking the wife and daughter out but, when I do, I know it'll be a short trip because they're not as into it as me. I have one buddy that I enjoy fishing with because I know it'll be good conversation and I know he'll sense when I'm not in the mood to talk. But, more and more, I find myself fishing alone .... and I like it. I don't have to worry about putting my boat partner on fish. I don't have to worry which direction or what location I go to. I can fish close to the bank and pitch or get farther out and not worry about how it impacts their fishing plan. I can go as early (or as late) as I want to go. I'm still open to back boaters but I'm not upset when nobody can go.

Best bait for small bass
I've never had small bass ignore a wacky rig but, if they were popping baitfish on the top of the water, I'd probably throw a jerkbait at 'em. Jerk it and wait, rinse and repeat.

Lowrance Hook2
I think an enhancement to the Hook2 Reveal 7 that I have would be for it to highlight the fish that will actually hit my lure. It's always showing me fish....just not any that bite ? Seriously, I needed some electronics up front...mostly for depth and structure location. I catch most of my fish on the bank or near visible structure in shallower water. I've not mastered the art of using my electronics to locate and catch fish. My only grip about my Lowrance unit is that the screen will go completely blank periodically and the only way to wake it up is to power it down and back on again.

Bass boat storage boxes not watertight?
My Lowe Stringer 175c does not have water tight storage compartments. Learned the hard way. Now I seal things in baggies that need to stay dry.

The key to catching bigger bass
Lesson leaned today. Do all the above and SET THE DADGUM HOOK! Missed my personal best today because I wasn’t sure I had a fish on.

Bycatch
Nice fish. Some of them slabs fight better than some bass I've caught.

Direct tie from this day forward.
I used Norman speed clips on crank baits, chatterbaits, and others with a closed eye. Direct tie spinnerbaits and worms. I can swap a crank much faster than I can retie.

How many carry while out fishing in the boat.

Favorite Ice cream thread!
It's hard to pick a favorite. At Baskin Robbins, I usually tend to get chocolate chip. We usually end up at one of those "slab" places where i get a variety of stuff mixed into vanilla. One of my favorite cones is dipped cone from DQ.

According to my LMB Weight chart, 19" could be as much as 3.95lb's. Of course those are estimated weights that could vary depending on season, etc.
