Personally 10lb braid is probably enough for what I do with spinning reels. I just find my spinning reels perform better with 15. As mentioned braid is super thin and I was having a lot of issues with 10lb that I dont have with 15lb. If youve used 10lb or lighter and have no issues and just looking for hi viz then great but none of my reels liked it in the 2500 and 3000 class sizes.

I use Yo-Zuri in their blue color. About the only color I dont lose easily throwing into/near vegetation and water reflections. Havent tried orange but I bet that works well. Id suggest going to 15lb braid though, 10-12 is kind of light and 15 is limp enough to fish a ned rig just fine. Leaders I'll go anywhere from 6-10lbs with an FG knot. No issues and the combo works great. I never add backing on spinning reels, when its ready to replace I just spool it backwards and use the "fresh" back half.

My wifes family vacation is in mid august and this year they elected to go to the Poconos for a week. Were staying on Arrowhead Lake. Id prefer to just bring my wifes 10.5' sit on top kayak and fish some smaller ponds/bodies of water but if there is a compelling reason to bring my Tacker I can be swayed. Any good recommendations of where to fish? Been a long time since I've been in PA. LMB or SMB are my target, I've tried the susquahana for musky for about 2 summers and all I got were bruised ribs and tired arms.

Yesterday was the first day in about 2-3 weeks I've been able to get out. On my home lake which is fairly small, they are no longer in any pockets and are mostly on main lake points in 5-0ft of water and close to deeper water Tucked in weeds. I can also say quite happily.... the frog bit is DEFINITELY on. I can say happily/unhappily I think I need a longer frog rod to help take up line faster on hook sets.

All I hear is how great a jig is. I love the look of them, profile and idea of them...just could never fish it right to connect. Trig creature baits, worms, shaky heads I'm successful with but the jig eludes me. Hell I didnt even buy my first senko until a few weeks ago ? we might as well put that with jigs.

I keep mine "simple" this year. 1) Really dedicate to fishing a jig and becoming successful with it. I literally have 2 plano boxes of Sieberts jigs and I've caught less than 5 fish on a jig in my life. 2) Hunt down a DD 3) Learn to more consistently predict where fish will be at for the given conditions.

I had fished trailer hooks and had issues with hooking up. Stripped the trailer hook but threw on a trailer and life has been great. I'll get the occasional bump with no hook up but its rare. In the interest of science though I've never tried a spinner with trailer hook and a small trailer. I'll give it a try and see if I notice any more fish in the boat vs not. If @Captain Phil is right, and he very well might be, I wont know until I try. Try all 3 ways and see what works best for you, everyone fishes different.

I was always told 2 things. 1) doesnt who was right if you are dead (similar to above) 2) people wont notice subtle course changes, make em big to show obvious change. (of course, within a safe reason)

ive heard pre front they feed to hunker down during the storm. Ive heard they are more active during the storm because surface gets oxygenated with waves/rain Ive heard they are feed after the storm because of all the new bugs/critters washed into the water from the storm. Ive had luck during all 3 at completely different times. If someone knows more...please save me some time lol. My biggest issue has been my local lake gets like chocolate milk after every rain storm and its rained now 16 times out of the last 18 weekends. Its looked like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory's river of chocolate for weeks now.

All my poppers (except a few I found) are storm chug bugs. I walk em back and use em around cover and open water. Always did really well with them.

i hate threads like these....makes me want to move back north where all I had to worry about was the rare rattle snake, mountain lion, pack of coyotes and the crushing depression of 6 months of winter. . The more I read about FL the more I'm convinced its just a mini australia. Everything deadly and super sized.

Not for me. Maybe in the future but I feel like there are more tricks up my sleeve to limp a gas motor home vs an electric just not working and needing specialized tools. Not to mention electrical fires scare me...all fire on a boat is no fun but electric fires belong on a level in Dante's inferno.

Purple worm and black jitterbug. My dad would fish them d**n near exclusively and thats what I ended up learning on. Lot of great memories when I was younger using both.

Same quantity in Academy but the "sale" price is $5, normal is like $6 something. They still had packs of the old 10 count for $7 a bag so I grabbed a bunch. This is as of 15 minutes ago.

Happened to mine recently. There are 2 springs pushing down a U plate on the gear that hooks into the spool. One of mine popped out and caused those issues. Removed the issue one and it works fine with just the one. Kills me to pay $8 shipping on a $2 part so I'm waiting....lol

Personally I dont use floro with a moving bait setup. Trilene Big Game is what I do and would use. I did use trilene XL for a while but the BG seems to stand up better so far.

I put hi-viz on some of light duty spinning rods for shaky head and ned rig. Yo-zuri blue has stood out the best for me. The yellows/greens depending on pollen, water, veg, etc. I lose them but never the blue.

Pre-spawn I caught the same fish 3 times and got her to the kayak and either broke off or she came unbuttoned. The 3 times were in the span of 30 minutes. Fish was in maybe 6"-1ft of water. I cant be 100% positive it was the same fish but it was a tiny shallow pocket surrounded by reeds. If it fit 3 fish of her size in there then it had to be a Throuple looking to spawn. Cast 1 T-rig: came in, big wake, slammed it hard and fought her to the side of the kayak and she came undone. Cast 2 T-rig 30 seconds later: came in same way and hit hard, got her to the side and she made a surg and snapped the line as I was reaching to lip her. Cast 3 20-30 minutes later: Used a popper and she slammed it before it settled from the cast's "plop". Came undone about 3-4 feet away as she tail walked her way out of my life. Bass judging by length was going to be 5lb +. Wish I got a look at her heft but she felt d**n close to the 7lb I dragged in a week later. Just depends on the fish and its mood.

Not tackle related, but my wife cracks herself up every time I go out fishing. she says "Good luck, be safe and have fun RIPPIN LIPS" and then has a good laugh. I dont use the phrase but my brother in law did one time we went out and she about died laughing. Its cute and makes the trip more enjoyable.

Never having fished them id try spinnerbaits, jerkbaits, swimbait/jig (weightless and weighted) and some type of creature baits or worms with a really slow fall rate.

i know in CT there is a type of lemon law when buying a used vehicle from a dealer. My BIL bought a truck and had to bring it in for transmission issues a month later. I believe 3 months into ownership and the transmission blew completely. It was something short like 6 months but they had to completely replace it. Of course, they only "offered" after he called them out on the law. Not sure if this applies to boats and what your state says so I'd do some reading ASAP, especially with windows that short.

just about anything made today (even the cheaper weaver rings) are done well enough you dont have to lap. I build/work on guns as a side job and I've seen more people do damage to rings trying to lap them vs just using them as they came. Nightforce, leupold mk4 rings, badger, MPA, TPS, SPUHR, redfield (older stuff) all make good rings. I've only ever HAD to lap one set and ironically it was a set of nightforce rings with a nightforce scope. It was one set out of the dozens I've personally used or installed though, I'm still calling them good.

might be a little late to the party but my wife surprised me on our anniversary night. We were supposed to go race go-karts but she wanted to go to a range instead and try out a bunch of handguns so she could start carrying. (honestly, I have a great wife, both were her ideas for our anniversary) After the sig 365, p238, ruger something she finally landed on the M&P EZ shield in 380. Very easy to rack, tons of intuitive safeties and had a large enough handle to shoot easily but still concealable. Thats her though, I'd HIGHLY advise you try and get as many guns in her hands as you can and let her pick. Shes gotta be comfortable with it and be able to control it. All 3 guns she shot were the same caliber but weight, handle size and height over bore and general design can and will make all the difference. Even better if you can afford to get her some 1v1 or small group womens only pistol training where they have some guns for her to rotate through. Regardless, training after a purchase will NEVER be money wasted. There isnt a person alive who can say they couldnt benefit from more training of some kind.
