When Your Electric Car Needs a Battery
IMO we’re 100 years away from whatever it is they’re trying to achieve. That’s IF it’s achievable.

Old movies....
I started out making a list of actors/movies, but soon realized I could spend hours doing it that way and still forget half of the good ones. In the ‘60s they used to show old movies all day Sunday on channel 20 out of D.C.. Got our TV guide out of the Washington Post. WaPo used to be good for SOMETHING. Ravens are lookin’ good!

Old movies....
Turner Classic Movies (TCM) and American Movie Classics (AMC) are the best channels for old movies. I prefer TCM over AMC because TCM is commercial free. AMC has started showing more modern (‘70s & up) with fewer “old” movies since they went to commercials. I can scroll through TCM’s guide for the week and pick and choose which ones I’m interested in and DVR them to watch at my leisure. If you do this for awhile, you’ll figure out what/who’s good and what/who’s not. Hedy Lamar, Rita Hayworth, and Lana Turner blow doors on today’s hollywood “beauties” and Tracy, Bogart, and Cooper are the guy that todays stars wish they could be. I prefer a simple theme in movies and that is that doing the right thing always brings a happy ending. Right prevails and the good guy gets the girl! Too much nonsensical garbage coming out of hollywood nowadays. Ever get to the end of a movie and ask “what was that about”? When was the last time Hollywood made a Shawshank Redemption? Sorry for the rant, but nothing coming out of Hollywood today is helping America IMO.

I hate spinning gear
Floating in river current fishing a 1/8oz jighead I prefer spinning gear all day. Fishing the Upper Potomac is a prime example. I prefer casting gear for the techniques that I fish most often and enjoy the most. Sometimes it’s nice to tie on an underspin with a grub and mindlessly just cast and retrieve with spinning gear. No pressure and catches alot of fish.

Classic Country & Western
Alot of good (real) country music nowadays, but you’ll never hear it listening to the radio. I thought Garth Brooks was bubblegum BS so my opinion on country music won’t be shared by everyone.

Daiwa Tatula SV TWS 103
My thought exactly. A spool can’t turn on it’s own, but a lure sinking to the bottom could cause the spool to turn if you released your thumb. One thing’s for sure - it’s not a malfunctioning reel. I’d like to know what happens when he throws a crankbait, spook, or any other floating lure.

Sig P938 on my person and keep a .38 snubnose in my vehicle’s center console. Why? I refuse to be terrorized by some loser.

Starter Rod
Labor Day sales will begin sometime next week. You can probably get more bang for your buck if you can wait until then.

John Daly
Forgot to mention that the well dressed golfer in all those memes is Tiger Woods.

Co-Polymer on Spinning Reels
P-line isn’t the only co-polymer game in town. McCoys and Izorline are 2 others that I’m familiar with and I currently use 8 & 10 lb Izorline xxx on my spinning reels, 15lb on baitcasters. Works as well as anything IMO. Nothing wrong with flouro unless you’re me - I just don’t mess with it much. Mostly braid on baitcasters and mono on spinning gear - that’s it.

John Daly
I don’t golf, but I’m a huge fan. I’m watching right now. Daly was as talented as anyone, but his lifestyle got the best of him IMO. He’s always danced to the beat of a different drum which accounts for his enduring popularity. He’s a 2 time major winner (PGA Championship and British Open).

Bigger Swimbait Reels
Think line capacity. Low profiles other than reels like the Tranx or Lexa won’t get you where you need to go.

What do you do best?
Repairing aircraft electronics in a high tempo environment. If they ever start making electro-mechanical fishing lures I’ll be in business.

Which rod
I just wrote a couple paragraph reply, but I messed up and lost it. I’m not writing it over again. I’d wait for Labor day because rod and reel sales are always going on somewhere and generally it seems like there’s alway a better deal around the next corner. I never pay retail - $200 reels can usually be found for $160. Rods are the same. Knowing options offered by different manufacturers in certain price ranges is a good starting point. If you don’t know what’s out there, all you know is that you got the best price, not necessarily the best product in a particular price range. $10 or 20 bucks one way or the other doesn’t bother most people as long as they’re getting a good product. I’m very familiar with wanting to buy it NOW. No harm if you do. Daiwa, Lews, Shimano, Ark, Dobyns……..All good companies and these are just a few. Keep on posting if you need more answers - I think there’s more experience on this board than anywhere on the internet. YouTube can be useful if you can sift through the……… Not saying everything on here is gospel either.

Which rod
I don’t know how much time you spent researching your purchase options, but if you wait a few days and look around a little more you’ll probably make a decision that your comfortable with. The knowledge you can gain with a day or three of research could make a big difference. There are alot of ways to skin this cat as far as saving a few bucks and getting decent equipment. Labor Day sales are right around the corner. Chill, do your research, and make a better informed decision when an opportunity arises. You’re not losing anything if you pass on today’s cheapest available setup, and chances are you’ll find find a deal on a higher quality setup at a price that you can live with if you just have a little patience.

Which rod
I went the cheap route because I didn’t know if I’d like using a baitcaster. Turns out I DID like a baitcaster and what I saw as it’s advantages. I’ve spent $$$$ on baitcasters since then. So it really depends on your individual financial situation as well as your level of interest in general. Heck, I sometimes throw money away like a drunken sailor so I’m probably not the right person to ask.
