  1. I just like to keep things as simple as possible. I use only mono on spinning gear and probably use spinning gear 10 % of the time. I’ve tried braid to leader - heck with that. I use mono on a baitcaster for hard jerkbaits and that’s it. I live on a lake and years ago I fished 250+ days a year. Now I usually fish a couple times a week and after resisting braid for a long time, braid is practically all I use anymore because I don’t think it matters much. We’re all different and who cares?
  2. Hey @T-Billy, When are you going to get serious? LOL! Quit piddlin’ around with that braid.
  3. Some serious anglers use only braid.
  4. If Shimano has a name for it, I guess they must be using it. So maybe the problem isn’t confined to Doyo reels unless somehow Shimano can use this cardboard-like material and magically not encounter problems with their drags. I’ve never had a problem with the drag on any of my Lews reels.
  5. Whenever the urge strikes, and I'm a firm believer in naps.
  6. Pretty sure all reels have problems if you leave the drag tightened down. I loosen ‘em up after use every time.
  7. Swans are the worst. One jumped in my boat, winged my brother and broke one of his rods. They’ll circle your boat like vultures. Nasty critters.
  8. It’s probably toast, but are you any good with J-B WELD? Superglue the splintering back in place and neatly apply a thin layer of J-B. That’s all I have.

I throw them on the floor and pick them up when I’m done fishing. Then I throw them away because I don’t re-use them.

Exactly my point. So and so says…..I was speaking for myself and not someone who can’t figure out which direction to point a gun. Carelessness and stupidity don’t recognize state borders.

    My raw data suggests otherwise.

I carry, and present no danger to myself or others unless others intend to harm me. I also have a gun in my car, and I totally disagree with the idea that chances are greater that I’ll shoot myself or someone in my car, rather than my attacker.
  13. 4 of 8 colors available online. Give them a call.

Imagine how special it would be if those steroid using cheaters hadn’t broken the record years ago.
  16. 7’ M/H baitcaster because I’m only taking 1 rod if I’m bank fishing.
  17. I have a Virginia lifetime for 61-64 year olds. I forget what I paid, but I’d like to think it was probably worth it. Who knows - I might have just bought it so I’d never have to deal with it again. Expires in 2220.
  18. A good small tackle shop is an endangered species nowadays. Dashiell’s was an incredible shop near me who’d been in business since the ‘60s. The owner decided it was time to retire and sold it to a knucklehead who ran it into the ground in 3 years. His son impregnated the cashier and the owner just didn’t maintain the stock. Bass Pro is only 30 miles from me, but I’ve only been there 3 times in 20 years. The novelty of Bass Pro wore off real quick. I miss being able to drive 5 miles to replace a lure a being right back on the water.
  19. That’s about as bad as I’ve seen - period. Hopefully they’ll take care of you.
  20. Dobyns HEAVY is closer to what I consider Medium Heavy etc…..
  21. I prematurely left DHS/Coast Guard civil service 3 years ago and retired completely. Prior to that I’d been in Aviation Maintenance at all levels for 25 years and I just got tired of asking myself “Who Hired these People?”. Sadly, competent management and work ethic are a thing of the past. I had to go before I exploded and I’m glad I did.
  22. I just added them to my TW wishlist.
  23. First downs are pretty common. 64 yard field goals are once in a hundred year events. LOL! How much do they pay this coach?
  24. Fishing a spinnerbait on the Potomac, making really long casts and a big smallmouth took it on the fall. I was using 14# mono on a 7’ BPS “Extreme Performance System” rod that came as part of a combo and it had a very moderate action. When the fish surfaced all I saw was the size of his gill plate and knew I had a good fish on. When I got him to the boat I figured he was close to 5lbs. and when my brother tried to net him he jumped over the net, threw the hook and said goodbye. Distance, line stretch, and rod action contributed to a poor hookset was my conclusion. Didn’t break my heart, but my brother and I still talk about it 25 years later. Biggest smallie I ever hooked.
