  1. Brand new reels need a "break in" period. I would've just use it as is and see how it fish. Never open a Shimano reel under warranty, send it in within the warranty period if something is wrong.
  2. Bantam1 at TT mentioned it's the same frame size with new features. 2024 Shimano SLX 70 Question - TackleTour
  3. This new Metanium DC should be using the same 'NEW & IMPROVED' aluminum gear set as the Shallow Edition, Anyone have any experience with the Metanium Shallow Edition?? I would definitely wait for some reviews to come out first before buying this new DC reel.
  4. You are probably right, and the pictures shows it's got aluminum gear, though I never had any experience with the 15 Metanium aluminum gear, this new one should be better, and it should be the same as the one installed in the non DC Metanium shallow edition. Meaning if the USDM version is identical to the JDM version, then JDM I'm buying from Digitaka.😄 One thing got me thinking though, it looks like JDM version does not include Ci4+ but the USDM does (according to JP DeRose), it's no big deal as long as the handle side plate stays magnesium, if both side plates are Ci4+on USDM version then I'm definitely not getting the US version.
  5. The new SLX 70A looks like it's got a new paint job too and it looks pretty good! You guys think this new Metanium DC will come with brass gears or not? plus the handle looks like it's an 84MM, the reel is looking really good overall though.
  6. Which one in Daiwa line up comes with a true double pinion bearing support? Thank you in advance.
  7. I've been looking at the Daiwa Tatula SV TW 70 as my first Daiwa reel for a while now but couldn't find a schematic for it online, does anyone knows if it's got the double bearing pinion support or they call it hyperdrive?
  8. I'd focus on and getting the Curado MGL 150, better off the long run.
  9. I apologize in advance since I don't own any Daiwa reels, but you get the idea. Some of the reels below came with Shimano's small Septon handle knobs and immediately replaced with a larger knob or the whole 90MM handle assembly that came with Bantam XG, Curado K, and Etc. IMO, It's the most comfortable/perfect size handle knobs out of all Shimano's offerings. Maybe Daiwa will take notice and offer some options in the future?
  10. This is the only thing I use with my reels, never strip a screw.....ever! Wera 3355 Pozidriv PZ 0
  11. I would start with replacing the pinion bearing part #10EX6 before doing anything else. 10EX6 – Shimano US Fish Shop If no luck, then send it in @Delaware Valley Tackle for a deep cleaning.
  12. I don't own a SLX series reel; the lack of X-Ship in the SLX series is what makes me not want to own one based on my experience with the reel it replaced...The Casitas. I'm sure the SLX series is a fine reel and has the aluminum frame vs Casitas graphite frame, but I've been there done that...save or spend a little bit more money, skip the SLX line and go straight to the Curado line, better off in a long run. Just a suggestion though.
  13. I don't own a BFS reel yet, but I think it shouldn't affect the casting performance of that reel. Let us know if you do notice something though.
  14. Very nice Dude! They look pretty awesome!
  15. I managed to upload the video, hopefully it helps.
  16. That spring is what makes the drag star feels tight against the handle (which I like very much) unlike any other Shimano reels like from Chronarch and below where the drag star is kind of "loose".
  17. Cool! The key is to tighten the square nut as much as you can as if you are increasing the drag pressure using the star drag itself or with a wrench while holding the handle shaft with the handle assembly if that makes any sense, it should relieve any pressure to get everything lined back up, the culprit on this design has always been that drag spring IMO. Same idea as @Delaware Valley Tackle. Metaniums are the exact same thing.😤
  18. I made a little video on how to do it or how I usually do it without doing any damage to parts, but the video file is kind of too large to upload.
  19. Yeah it's not all too bad, it would look really cool when you're done with it I'm sure, upload pics for us to see. all my Shimano reels that came with 84MM handle are immediately replaced with 90MM handle, it's just the size I'm so used to. I know I could just get XG reels that already come with a longer handle but I'm just not into high-speed reels for some reason.
  20. Those 3 parts would've cost you just $6.16 directly from Shimano but it would not qualify for free ground shipping since it's under $35. I don't think it's odd for a seller to sell all 3 as a bundle, I would do the same since they all came off of the same reel or handle. I would just keep them for extra parts but that just me.
  21. BNT6057 is simply replaced by new part number 10E8U and are in stock at Shimano's website. They're transitioning to new part numbers for some reason so older part numbers we are used to will show as discontinued but the new assigned/replacement part numbers are typically in stock or backordered. So it's actually better to type and search for the old part numbers to see what's the new parts are being called just like below.
  22. I only buy parts directly from Shimano's website and use their schematics and part numbers to find the parts I need so my input and experience are based on just that. with that being said, I'm very much confident that all the replies and inputs I've posted on this topic are in fact accurate, for example, BNT5643 on Shimano's website/schematic is a handle assembly for Curado 200k just like I said on my previous post. it sounds like your seller for whatever reason described the parts you just bought as BNT5643 that includes the nut, screw and plastic nut retainer which is not very accurate since those little parts have their own respective parts numbers, just look at the schematic screenshot for the Curado 200k I've posted earlier, so no I don't think I mixed myself up on this one, just saying.
