  1. He was just saying, " Obviously you're not going to be using this rod for catching fish, I might as well use it to sit on ".
  2. What size senkos are you throwing? The weight difference in a 5 and 6 is a noticeable difference. I throw a 6" Senko on a Dobyns 734, perfect for throwing senkos in or around "junk" . I use a Revo STX with 50lb braid and a 15lb fluorocarbon leader.
  3. Jig fishing is one of those baits you want to spend as MUCH AS YOU CAN, to get that sensitivity. $200 is a great price point in my mind. I have a Dobyns 734, 765, and 766. Depending on conditions (cover, wind, size of jig) I use one of the 3. All very sensitive.
  4. Dobyns 806 Swimbait rod / Daiwa Luna 300 / 30lb Mono Dobyns 806 Swimbait rod / Soon to be Curado 300 / 25lb Mono

Thankfully, you don't live in California. Nice fish.
  6. Now wouldn't that be nice. Definitely won't happen living in Northern California though.
  7. I'm down to do it again. That was fun. Unfortunately, it was my first time, but I still did pretty alright. Someone just PM me or AIM me if you get it set up and have a spot open.
  8. I too have switched, lol. P-Line is identical to Power Pro, or so I see it. I notice Zero difference. Right now I have Suffix on one reel, Power Pro on one, P-Line on another, and Spiderwire UltraCast on one. The spiderwire, IS THE BOMB. I know I have heard so many people complain, but the ultra cast is just awesome.
  9. Haha, guess I didn't even have to post. I love my Dobyns rods, I have 7 now, and wouldn't have it any other way. Personally, I would pay the extra few bucks to go with Dobyns rods. They're better balanced, especially the larger rods, and enable you to fish for countless hours without getting warn out, at all. Gary has also worked very hard on making these rods JUST right, and wouldn't have anything less. Another up side is, if you get into Dobyns rods, there's also the Xtreme lineup, if you're willing to shell out a few more bucks, they are DEFINITELY worth it. I have an Xtreme 734, this thing is the best all around rod I've ever fished. I fish Dobyns rods with Revo STXs , couldn't be more satisfied, and they balance PERFECTLY.
  10. I still need a d**n 10lber and 11lber.
  11. Thanks everyone, it's finally sinking in now, had some other issues that kept me from enjoying the sheer beauty of the fish the first few days, but now, it's settling in. Honestly, the best feeling is that it was caught on a jig, I made. I encourage everyone to try tying jigs, making crankbaits, or even just modifying already existing baits. It brings another edge to fishing.
  12. I'd say save a bit of money, and get a Dobyns 703. I've noticed ZERO different in sensitivity, and the Dobyns rods are just plain awesome. Can't go wrong with either, just trying to throw out extra options.
  13. Haha, no need to white out the back round on the delta. There's wayyyyyyy too much water to figure out where I'm at, and who's to even say I didn't go 5 miles somewhere else for the photo
  14. Thanks guys, and thanks for the chat Robert.
  15. No fish weight calculator is 100% correct. I had a 8-13 that the went 8-6 on the calculator. My 13lber I just caught is "15-3" according to the weight calculator. These are the reasons everyone should own a scale. I'd say it's somewhere between 7 and 8 so just call it 7 1/2.
  16. For all the guys that say "Swimbaits and big baits only work in California and big bass waters", Russ has simply proved everyone wrong. I hope this can show guys in every state, and out of the USA, that swimbaits work, and catch quality fish regardless of where you are. California may have HUGE trout fed bass, BUT all bass eat some type of fish, and there's nothing better to imitate a bait fish then a swimbait! Congrats again bud, I'm glad you're having so much success.
  17. My 12 and 13 are both on small baits. Go figure! I'll never stop throwing swimbaits, but there's a time and place for everything. I'm planning on it. My birthday is in November I'll be turning 21, so I might ask for that as a gift from someone. I got the measurements which I didn't get on my 12, so I'm happy. I'd love to get a replica of my 12 and 13, the 12 was an unofficial lake record and my first DD, and this fish is my first Teen fish!
  18. I really don't know, I did notice it when I caught the fish though, but have no idea what it's from.
  19. What can I say guys! Dobyns rods + Revo STX's + my hand tied jigs = Big Fish. Plain and simple.
  20. Bobby's Perfect frog!
  21. I sure wish I could go, wanna take me Glenn ? ;D Have fun you guys, maybe I'll be there next year.
  22. 15lb fluorocarbon, but now I'm liking 50lb braid with a 15lb pline fluoro leader.
  23. Even better, lets hope we can get one at CL in August.
  24. Fished with my tourny partner today and had a blast. Started out with several missed fish. Including a fish near 8lbs lost at the boat, and another 2 fish around 5lbs both didn't get into the boat. We were supposed to be off the water by 12:30 (noon), but decided to stay on for another hour or two, as we were on a decent bite, small 2lbers but on a fun bite none the less. At 1:30, I was in the for the shock of a life time. In March, I got my first double digit, 12lbs6oz, didn't think another DD would come so soon, especially not one BIGGER than 12-6. 28" length / 20" girth "Fish Calculator says 15.3", but this fish was only 13lbs3oz. Caught on a Dobyns 765 / Revo STX / My very own hand tied jig on my buddies hand poured heads. Nothing more satisfying then making a bait and sticking a big fish. By the way, Fourbizz, where's my 2x4 that you promised me if I stuck another DD this year
  25. The 795 is an AWESOME Stick if you're in the $200 price range. It's my next swimbait rod for sure, I have 2 Dobyns 806's, I can throw 2oz baits up to much heavier baits. Dobyns rods are also VERY light, I've had 2 different guys with Okuma swimbait rods hold my 806 and first word out of their mouths were, " Wow, it's light" .
