Flipping reel with switch
The only one of these I ever had was a Bass Pro Shops reel that I got 20 years ago. It was pretty cool, but I have just never gotten another reel with that switch.

Boat security on a fishing trip
We use the air tags on our dog collars in case they get loose and go on an adventure. They are a pretty simple piece of insurance.

Current Favorite Frog Colors ?
I am generally a black, white, green person on frogs, but I have picked up a few JDM frogs lately that have more complex color patterns. They have been getting bitten pretty well even though it’s not really frog time around here.

Furthest Casting Reel for ultimate long distance reach when frogging *sigh*
I currently have a Tatula SV on my frog rod and can launch it. I have the brakes turned down and have it spooled with 50# 832. I just got a Metanium though, and think I could probably throw it farther.

Tips on casting distance
I was about to say this same thing. I fly fish quite a bit and you learn to feel the rod load, particularly if you are fishing with a fiberglass rod. It helps me be able to cast my conventional gear farther.

Latest,Rods & Reels Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Just bought a Metanium HG and a Stradic, and have a second Metanium on the way for Fathers Day. That Metanium is pretty slick.

Frog rod under $150
I just bought one of these about a week ago. It’s a great rod that I have set up specifically for frogs.

Where to go in FL in December?
We will want to bass fish, and will probably be around for a week or so. As for an area, that is wide open for us, but I had considered Okeechobee. I know there isn’t a shortage of good fishing down there. I hate to be so vague, but knew I would get some good input.

Where to go in FL in December?
Looking for suggestions for somewhere to go for a few days in Florida in December. I doubt we will drag the boat with us, so somewhere with nice rentals on the water would be ideal. My son and I would want to fish, but it would be nice to be close to some family activities too so my wife can enjoy the trip.

I second Digitaka. I have a package from them that will be delivered tomorrow. They are fast and have good prices.

Ambassadeur reels - anyone still use these, should I keep mine or sell for modern reel?
I have a friend who refuses to use anything but these. Come to think of it, the same guy went on a buffalo hunt dressed as a cowboy while carrying a Sharps rifle. Some things are just classics that work.

Current Favorite Frog ?
I have been getting lots of blow ups on Scum Frogs, but my hookup ratio is low. Soft plastic horny toads on a 3/0 Gamakatsu EWG have been really good for me with near 100% hookups.

Best chance at a 10 pounder in Kentucky or Tennessee?
It was killer back around 2013-2014. There were 40+ pound limits in tournaments during that time. Heck, Rogne and Tim had a 49 pound limit in one tournament.

Fellsmere Reservoir produces first TrophyCatch Hall of Fame Bass
Definitely a nice one.

Shimano Sedona FJ
I have a couple of these that are older models. They have served me well and are still very smooth for what they cost me.

Best chance at a 10 pounder in Kentucky or Tennessee?
Chickamauga gets pounded about 5 days a week with tournaments. It is not in its prime anymore. There are still lots of good fish that get caught, but you don’t hear about many DD.

Lure Retrievers
I like this idea. I will be making one of these this afternoon. I have been using the chain style.

How do y’all fish Berkley Gillys?
My son got a pack of them and has wanted to catch something on one pretty bad. We haven’t had any luck yet either.

Anyone fishing the Bassmaster Guntersville Kayak Championship?
Good luck down there. Guntersville is not too far from me. A buddy of mine used to organize tournaments down there. Don’t forget about Scottosboro Tackle Company is down that way too if you forget any of your tackle.

Rod for Bluegill and Panfish
Thanks everyone for the responses so far. I have been digging into all of them, and what a rabbit hole it is.

Rod for Bluegill and Panfish
I’m looking at spinning rods for this.

Rod for Bluegill and Panfish
Under a bobber mostly, with occasional free-retrieving.

Rod for Bluegill and Panfish
I am at a point in my life where I do. I like nice stuff, and have some health conditions that, while not debilitating, stand a good chance of causing me a rapid departure. My doctor likes to call me his favorite genetic anomaly.
