Ugh I screwed up. I started reading reviews on the Adrenas and found that the 7’4” heavy I ordered is a regular action swimbait rod! Not what I wanted. Want a heavy t-rig rod. So I called Midway to cancel/change my order to the 7’2” heavy and It had already shipped! Ordered the 7’2” but now I have to jack with sending the other one back. ? If I call tomorrow I can pay an intercept fee of $17 or wait until it’s delivered and then pay to ship It back. I’m guessing that will be more than $17.

Adrena ordered! I guess I’m holding off on the 2.5oz rod I was thinking about but this one was too good to pass up. I’ll put a Metanium on this one and the Lews S/P on Dobyns Champ 684c. 20lb sniper on the met, 17lb p-line on the Lews.

If I lose 4 inches on a $75 rod I’d fix It and It would go in the channel catfish rod pile. And I’d buy a new one.

Btw I had a Lews Hypermag before and honestly It was so smooth and light I thought It was messed up and got rid of It. I didn’t know high end reels at the time. I have all daiwa and shimano reels now. Hope this new S/P is as nice.

I agree, I worded It wrong. Most “punch” rods are 7’11-8’ long and that’s too much for me. That 7’4” Amistad XH is the ticket I think.

44lbs caught in a tournament today on a lake 40 minutes away from me. I caught my pb 7.34 on this lake. So basically they averaged bigger than my pb. Lol. Wow

My sons baseball game got canceled so I decided to take quick trip to the lake. I wanted to throw some baits I never use. specifically wanted to spend some time pitching yamatanukis around. Got carried away and bought like 8 bags and hadnt tried them yet (other than in the pool and Admittedly they looked terrible). Well I can now confirm, I hate them. I spent 3 hours in prime fish areas and nothing. Watched a few fish come look at It and swim off. Finally got a taker in about 10’ of water on a submerged tree. Reeled down, set the hook hard, and had It coming to the boat. Solid 3 lber. As she surfaces she just opens her mouth and spits the bait. WTH?! Checked It out and ZERO hook penetration. That was It for that bait for me. I’m sure they are great for someone, but not me. Picked up my bread and butter, a Weightless senko and caught this 4. I then decided to spend the last hour throwing a magdraft freestyle, another i never use. I’ve never caught a MD fish. Shortly later near the boat I watched a 2lb bass come out of no where and hit the magdraft from the side and knock It off path. Then disappear lol. Didn’t even have his mouth open when he hit It. I then pitched It passed a submerged tree top I could barely see about 10’ from the boat. As I swam It back over the top of the tree the bait just stopped. 100% felt like I stuck on a limb. So I put slack In the line and started trolling motoring over to the tree top just in time to see that It was actually about a 6lb bass that had inhaled the bait. Literally on slack line I watched It just cough the bait out and haul butt deeper. Ugh! That was the weirdest bite I’ve ever felt. I didn’t even think to swing on It. So now I’m going to stick to the treble hook magdraft version. I think the treble would have stuck her. And that was that. Headed home now. Here’s a few more pictures.

Any 7 to 7’3” rods rated for 2.5oz?

I’m actually not seeing many at all in the specs I’m looking for. That’s why I was looking for the help on here. I currently have a 6’8” pitching rod rated to an ounce, a 6’11” pitching rod rated to 2 ounces, multiple 7’ pitching rods rated to an ounce, a 7’2” pitching rod rated to 1.2 ounces, and a 7’4” pitching rod rated to 2 ounces. That’s why I’m looking for a 7’6”-7’9” pitching/flipping rod rated to 2.5 ounces. Dobyns is the only one I see so far.

I don’t think that Rod is rated for over 2oz or long enough.

Just ordered a Lew’s P/F reel that I’m going to spool up with 25lb fluoro. I want a super strong, sensitive rod that’s still lightweight to put It on. I like the specs of the Dobyns Champion XP 766Flip a lot. 7’6”, rated to 2.5 oz, and I have other Champions so I know they are not broomsticks. Before I buy that one, wanted to see what else is out there with similar specs. 7’6” to 7’9” max. Rated for over 2 oz. Anything I should look at?

I was in the Navy out of high school then worked in the private sector while getting my degrees (BS and MBA). Then I became a police officer almost 7 years ago. I’m sure those reels will be fine.
