Day 2 of the tourney: another tough day. Really couldn’t figure anything out today. My big bass didn’t hold up but I didn’t expect It too. Wife ended the tournament in 4th. She was down 2.5 to the leader yesterday and he brought in a 17lb bag today ? Good times anyway.

Do you not like the crankbaits guaranteed to catch bass thread? 3. Yes imo. My shallow cranking rod is a Daiwa Glass Tatula medium with 6.3 gear reel. My deep crank rod is a Daiwa Kage MH deep crank rod with 5.5 gear reel.

All were released fine for those worried about It.

Rough day for me. Lost a Daiwa spinning rod/reel out of the boat first thing. Broke off on a big topwater bite. Trolling motor kept messing up. Backlashed so bad I had to put that rod up. Broke about 8” off the tip of my Champ Extreme. Wind was blowing about dang 30 mph. And my wife out fished me lol. I did manage to end the day in first for big bass. My wife is in 3rd overall. 2.5 pounds back. Anything can happen tomorrow.

Well good news, I’ll be buying a Tat LT anyway. Picture this: My wife and I go to take off at daybreak this morning in the boat. I say to her, watch that pole. She puts her hand on It. Less than 10 seconds later, she lifts said hand to take a picture of the sunrise. Pole immediately flies out. ?

Water is 80 degrees. Forgot the tournament starts at 7 and not 630. Been sitting quite a while on my spot lol Fishing the tops of these early. As It warns up moving out to the points and dragging c-rig.

On the way to the lake. Day 1 of a 2 day tourney. 530am, 75 degrees. High of 96 today.

I’ve eaten a 7 pounder that wasn’t going to make It. She tasted delicious.

I use 65# braid. Definitely no leader.

9-10” visibility pretty normal here and I use a regular drop shot often with out any issue. Muddy here is no visibility.

?? Every reel I’ve ever owned you can do this. The P/F is a good reel. I used mine as is for a few years without a problem. Decided recently though that I don’t need a shallow spool to pitch. Changed the spool out to a elite long cast and put It on my Carolina rig rod. It’s now just a Tat Elite with sweet power handles, which I love. I put a JDM Zillion HD on my pitching/t-rig rod. Love them both. Can’t go wrong with JDM right now though.

Lmao. It took a lot for me to put It on there for real. I didn’t want to spend more than about $150 so really It came down to Tatula or Stradic. I didn’t like that the Tatula was made in China or that It was black and going on this particular rod. Got the Tat Elite rod in though and it’s made in China lol ??‍♂️ So whatever lol I do have a pretty sweet H2O tac 40 spinning rod in ML that I was trying to sell that no one wanted. it’s just put away now with no reel. Might go ahead and get the Tatula LT when funds allow and put It on there.

What are some JDM crank baits you like? Something comparable to a LC 1.5 or Spro Rk Crawler?

I don’t do this. I’m not winding and grinding on them when they are making a run and pulling drag but I’m definitely not using the rod and winding the slack like I’m fishing for red snapper.

3 new rods and a new reel. I cheated on Daiwa with the reel. Tatula Elite Brent Ehrler 7’ MMHF paired with a Zillion I already owned. Rebellion 7’3” MHF paired with a Tat SV Limited I already owned. Tatula Elite Randy Howell 7’3”Dropshot/Shakey/Underspin rod paired with a new JDM Stradic. All ordered online. Not quite sure on the Rebellion. I prefer powerful but skinny rods. This thing is massive. Broomstick massive.
