I could get a $500 rod, which would be the best rod I’ve ever owned and shuffle some reels around. Or I could get an Expride (or other $250ish rod) and have enough for a new reel also.

Dirty jigs are the best out there. I throw jackhammer and siebert blades jigs, and dirty jigs for everything else. Luke clausen finesse, original pitching jig, no-jack, original swim jig, and California swim jig specifically. You won’t regret using them.

Opportunity cost is worth It for this awesome hobby. I could have saved all this money the last 15 years but then what would I have done? Wasted my life sitting at home.

I have the 7’3” MH Fast. Pretty sweet rod. Id kick my girlfriend to the curb if she was getting all Gaga over another dude though.

Honestly, this doesn’t sound like that big of an issue. What did It cost you? $15 or so and you get a lure that’s been on back order out of the deal.

I said all this, then found these at academy just now. Naturally I bought them.

Not a shimano guy but if you were to get a new Metanium or Bantam, specifically for pitching/short roll casts, how would you set the brakes up? Reason I ask is I like the aesthetics of these reels (yes It matters to the fish lol) and thinking about one for my newest rod. Which is also my highest end rod.

I have Magellan, Columbia, aftco, simms, cabelas guidewear, and huk. Some have hoods some don’t. I can’t tell a difference in any of them. I just grab whatever out of the closet at 430am. I also have about 5 buff and worldwide sportsman facemasks. Buff gloves. And wear Magellan fishing pants. All with a regular ball cap.
