  1. First off its illegal .Secondly most snakes produce musk which repels predators . Thats about as ethical as me using your dog or cat to catch one of these guys
  2. ;D ;D ;D This dog will clean your puter screen for ya http://theglobalbible.com/temp/screenclean.swf

Start a thread that you can vent in, something with a title like, Who or what ticked you off today. Nothing wrong with venting a little ,

yeah that one had been living with the gators he has tooth marks on his back and was missing about a 1 pound slab above his tail.
  5. Congrats , I feel so sorry for my wife with the morning sickness she is over 6 months and still ocassionally gets sick. My wife and I are having our first child due date is May 23, I am fortunate though my wife loves to fish and is also a licenced Nuisance gator trapper like me so we will be going to the outdoors a lot of fishing and getting gators. I guess our child has already been gator hunting ;D she got one the other evening when we went out . And a few earlier on in her pregnancy our sonogram pics we want the gender to be a surprise Our babys first gator My wife was about 3 months along when she got this one.

Wish you had a pic , I have never caught one that big but I did get a 64 lber at Santee SC
  7. What Robby said is right on a nightcrawler is great bait in muddy high water. I fish a whole crawler so they can smell it and possibly see it better. Also I look for eddys along the bank rather than try to fish the swift water
  8. When I might have a new favortie today! The Sonic Boom Gator I caught a 10 ft gator this norning and was gonna try out 410. slugs in the bangstick and figured he would be a good candidate for them. I blasted him once and he still had some life somehow so I blasted him again. About 10 seconds later the space shuttle re-entered the atmosphere to land here and there was twin sonic booms It was cool hearing those 2 booms right after I shot kinda made me duck for cover at first . I had forgotten all about the re entry today . I thought it was gunfire right on top of me the way the sound waves hit me. Here is the gator he had an old gnarly snout on him and a tooth that stuck straight out of his jaw His old war wounds every dark place on his belly and tail is an old scar . He aint worth a lot but was fun catching
  9. Why do wise man and wise guy sound so similar but mean something totally different.
  10. I catch problem alligators and do some carpentry and roofing during the off season
  11. I agree Is1jay . I have not done a roof since the new codes have come out. How slick is that stuff when your walking on it?
  12. Umm well it was an outing in a boat and I use a fishing rod to reel them in so its what I would call Big game fishing. And alos its probably helping the bass population because gators catch an ocassional bass. I have pretty much ruined myself as far as bass and catching small fish . After fighting in a 10 ft gator on rod and reel there is no fish that really compares. I guess its something you have to do to appreciate.
  13. Thats about an average size for the area 9 ft . The huge one is still out there . They do seem huge when they are pulling around a 10 ft boat
  14. 2/12 . 8 ft 11in I caught the 2/12 gators brother this morning . I didnt mess his head up as much ;D I still havent gotten the big one from that lake yet 2/16 9 ft 1in

  19. My Grandpa is who I caught my first fish with . Thanks Grandpa My Grandpa with his limit of LM bass in 1969 in the first pic Second pic is Grandpa Grandma, my 2 sisters and a dolphin grandpa caught Third picture is me Grandpa ,Grandma , my Mom and Me in the red hat with my first fish . LOL I was scared of the fish then ;D
  20. Good Idea Avid 8-) I will have to try that for bassin. I wonder if the marker chemicals weaken the line at all I use yellow braid 200 lb test . Knots are important in my line of work. If I use a leader I use a blood knot to connect the lines . I like the Tuff Line braid it works great for me and its tough. I have not had it broken yet and have caught some 350 + lb gators on it My gator spinning rig is laying in the boat . Its just a simple 8 ft surf rod and good reel with 200 lb tuff line yellow braid. The yellow braid is good to see in low light conditions when casting across a gators back it stands out.
  21. I am thrilled with my new rig Its for bass and alligators . I am breaking it in right ;D The Gheens at Gheenoe MFG. http://www.gheenoe.net/index.html Made me a custom 10 ft gheenoe . I can go anywhere in it and a trolling motor is all I need. It even paddles good. I have no problem hauling my 225 pounds my gear and a 9 ft gator in it. Its fun hooking up a gator in that boat kinda like Jaws in real life. Some more recent pics of my rig A gator I got on 2/12
  22. Nice pics and nice deer. I wish I had some backstrap frying right now
  23. It does get rough like the ocean quickly. I havent largemouth fished it but I have caught some big catfish from there and from Lake Marion. Some catfish are 60 plus pounds. Watch out for alligators a friemd of mines brother got his arm wrung off while swimming there last year here is the article GRAPHIC pictures http://www.charleston.net/photos/galleries/2007/sep/17/alligator_attack/
  24. Getting a licence to contract is fairly tough. The test is offered 4 times a year and you have to pay for several books then go to classes and they highlight whats on the test in you books for a fee. The test is open book timed but you about have to go to the school to know whats gonna be on the test and your answetrs are highlighted so the time limit is no problem. You need atleats 1 million in insurance and workers comp paid out etc. I am not positive on all the regulations. But being a sub here is like being a General Contractoor in NC and other states Its pretty competetive in the contracting business and much tougher than where I lived in NC . I had my own business there roofing. There is soem work near the bigger cities like Tampa and Orlando but there are also lots of illegals who work cheap. That affects the price people will pay an honest hard working American. As far as amimal control there are some jobs . I work as a contractor of sorts for the state removing gators . They dont pay me but they allow me to sell the meat and hide for my money. There are not many openings in my line of work . But there is a constant dog and cat problem. It is supposed to be 81 degrees this weekend ;D
  25. Any body of water in FL can have and does have alligators. I catch 10 footers in ponds you can nearly spit across. I catch them in ponds with mowed grass all the way around them. I catch them at parks where kids and dogs play in the water, Just keep the dog on a leash there is no safe body of water .As far as gator proofing a lake its nearly impossible. I catch gators with fences all the way around lakes they can push under a fence or travel in culverts . Most of the waterways here in FL are connected by canals or culverts. In about another month when it warms up you will see lost dog signs in nice neighborhoods where people think they have no gators. Hmmm wonder where their dog is???. If your a dog trainer you should be fine just maintain control of your dog. The thing I see quite often are people who chain their dog in the back yard where there is a pond. Well thats an easy catch for a gator because the dog cannot get away. Gators will study a situation for days or weeks before they decide to make a move . When they do its quick and noone usually sees it. The upside is there are nuisance gator trappers for every county here in FL. Its a toll free hotline if you have a nuisance gator over 4 feet call the hotline and a trapper like myself will come and get your problem gator. The work situation is slow slow as far as construction and the pay isnt as good as up north. Here is a gator I caught the other day at a county park where people swim water ski and let their dogs swim. There is a bigger gator that I havent gotten at that park.. an average 9 ft gator
