I'm Back from Mexico, and now I need a new reel. :(
Great excuse for a new outfit. Things like that happen when out in nature. Reminds me of a time my brother-in -law and I went to Florida fishing. He bought a brand new cast net so we could catch our own bait and save a few bucks. I said I’d give it the first try and proceeded to toss the net, opening nicely fifteenth feet into the ocean, watching it sink forever out of sight! I had not tightened the wrist strap and the whole shebang went flying, lost forever. To this day we still laugh about it and he never lets me forget what a great cast net tosser I am. I did buy a new net but we never did catch any bait. Fishing experience can be funny at times, and painful at others.

Rod socks- need reccos
I found the cheap ones a to be a PITA. No tip protection, guides pushing through the sleeve, sizing all over the place and don’t even get a hook caught in them! I replaced all my covers with These Excellent quality, tip protector, replaceable threaded reel cord, rubberized guide collar and perfect sizing. The best I have found and the price isn’t too bad considering the quality. PLUS THEY FLOAT!

Rate the song above you
Being raised around farms, cattle & corn country I’ve watched cattle all my life and they truly do react to barometric pressure and oncoming rain activity. Horse’s on the other hand typically respond to food! As @12poundbass statement is correct as weather usually doesn’t effect their behavior much, unless it’s tornadoes then they run for cover. Like most of us.

Rate the song above you
I rate it a 6/7 Pretty good song, but he’s got his country wrong! Fish do bite when the cows lay down, which is typically a sign of an approaching storm, and the bite is much better. Don’t know where he fishes……..

Good looking baits. Brand? They look fat, are they flat sided?

Supporting Local Tackle Shops
Unfortunately I feel very guilty about most of my online gear and tackle purchases. My niece and nephew own one of the best family owned boat, gun and tackle shops in the State, outside of Bass Pro. However I do buy online at times as they’re prices are msrp + usually and the “preferred customer discount “ brings them down to msrp on most items. I totally get it, they can’t compete with the national chains but do the best they can to remain competitive with periodic sales and bundle deals but not on a daily, or weekly basis. Adding to the fact they are an hour from me I have to put together my wants and needs before making the trip and try to arrange it around the sale times. They have a great website but it’s just advertising for the boats, guns and hunting gear and nothing can be ordered unless you know exactly what the items are you want, then you add full price postal shipping to the price. An itemized fishing department would make it way easier but don’t know if the online sales would be worth the extra effort. Now that being said they don’t really make their bills on packs of worms or spinnerblades. The boats (Phoenix, Icon & Vexus), guns and big ticket archery items are where the money is made. I do prefer to buy local at brick and mortar shops but mega deal pricing makes it difficult.

They lost me when the tv cameras were watching the anglers watching tv 🫣 turned it to the diy channel and watched paint drying.

I knew they have a limited number of cameras but assumed everyone had a Marshall in their boat for the sake of transparency.

Didn’t realize that. I thought everyone angler had a Marshall. Do camera crews go along with the Marshalls only or are there more Marshalls and fewer cameras?

Thanks, me too. It was just all the sudden, the magazines quit then website access and now like I totally don’t exist, nothing. They even had to give me a new membership number which does nothing for me, and have yet to receive any membership information. Now marketing sends me a link to the website daily to “Join Bassmasters”. I don’t know……….

I’ve been a life member since 1998 and they cut out all my stuff plus membership! I had to call (4 times as of yet) to get it straightened out and all I have is promises. The good ‘ole “wait a few weeks, it’s in the mail”. Sheeeeese, what a disaster they’ve become.

I think it’s more about being able to bring buddies along, kayaking doesn’t work for that.

Crankbaits
For me in baby bass color, it’s one of those lures that just catch bass when fishing tough. Certainly a confidence bait.

Welcome to the site. Please fill out your profile as a courtesy to the membership to assist you regionally. That being said, facebook, craigslist and local buy/sell/trade magazines would be the best place to look. Most sellers are negotiable on price and/or accessories and would make finding something easier. As example, I bought my 13’ canoe for $150 off of a local facebook member. Keep looking and don’t settle for anything less than what you want. It may take a bit longer to save the funds but in the end you’ll be happier. Keep at it, and once again Welcome, don’t be shy and come back often. There are a lot of knowledgeable folks here willing to help.

G. Loomis NRX+ Jig And Worm 6’8” Medium Extra Fast
At 6’ 8” and 3/4oz upper limit he wants to use I think he’s referring to the 803c JWR which is a MH/xf but is shy of the “3/4” mark. I agree the 895 would be a better choice for Florida but not as useful here in Hoosier land. I believe the 854 would be a better all around choice for here and vacation trips to bigger waters.
