  1. Even at that they must make one heck of a salary!
  2. I with ya! I wanted to go out today but the Wife is off work and has errands to run, banking, groceries, pet food store,,,,,,,with me at her side. I could have begged off but then thought, she’s fighting cancer and every minute with her is one I may never get again. We have fun together !!
  3. Thank you, it’s been a work in progress. The trailer being another addition this year as truck topping has even become more difficult.
  4. Alas, as a member of the over 70’s club I recently have resigned myself to ask for assistance while standing to fish. Not proud but my knees and back can’t take hours of sitting anymore. Please forgive me…..
  5. I will say prices have gone up on Digitaka. I had a Shimano Bantam in my cart a couple weeks ago and went back yesterday and the price had increased from $209 to $240.00 plus shipping is on a halt until the 12th. guess I’ll wait…….
  6. It’s in every market. I see 3/4 million dollars homes being built 40/50 at a time and wonder where does all the money come from to purchase these homes. The economy has surely passed me by………….
  7. They’re a Midwest staple! Due to the ability to “snag” they are a river special. Personally I do use a small snap swivel to eliminate line twist, quick change and a breaking point when completely hung up,,,,,,,,which will happen. In deep open water lakes they are pike and trout getters. Walmart carries a big selection at reasonable prices, at least here. Get a few and I’ll bet you’ll fulfill your lifetime expectations.
  8. I fish them the same way, just like a t-rig worm or lizard.
  9. Just a shout out to Siebert Outdoors for the fast shipping and EXCELLENT swim jig 5 pack in quarter ounce. Going to dedicate a rod to smaller swim jigs this year. The colors are fantastic and the build quality is OUTSTANDING! If your looking for jigs or spinnerblades you can’t beat the handmade quality. THANKS MIKE, much appreciated.
  10. Used to see that quite often at the Regatta on the Ohio.
  11. I break it, I pay for it. A “manufacture failure” will usually show up the first time out but does a thirty year old rod that breaks from fatigue comply? According to the new (Shimano owned) Loomis, no. But you can send it in for review, if denied you’re SOL, and they keep the rod. If covered they offer a $175.00 towards the purchase of a new rod. So much for the “Lifetime Warranty “
  12. I have a 6’6” Silstar Lexus that is over 30 years old. All graphite and the best spinnerblade rod I’ve ever had. I have IMX rods I use for spinnerblades but just always seem to compare every other rod to the Silstar.
  13. I was all braid for years and years then went braid to fluro leader until this year. I went to 10 and 12# Yozuri T7 fluro on all my casting rigs to eliminate the added knot and as of yet have no regrets. It cast fine, actually farther than braid, just as sensitive and I like the direct to lure contact. I do like the P-line Fluroclear too and use it on an ultralight rod. Sixteenth pound Sunline Shooter is on my jig rod. Tatsu is great but like others, outta my price range for a line that still fractures.
  14. Much better option for you and fishing the river! Sounds like you’re getting it dialed in. I was at the river yesterday and man it’s still waaaay up and moving, at least at Henderson Ford. Be careful out there.
  15. Interesting. Why don’t you consider the Shimano’s as true BFS. Is it the weight? Ability to toss tiny lures? Line capacity? Just trying to understand. I have a Tsurinoya on a super ultra light creek stick and it’s a superstar with very tiny lures but have never had it on a bigger rod.
  16. Light weight, smaller size reel with a shallow spool. It’s all about weight and being able to throw very light lures and baits. Of course the rod has to have the same ability to cast those lures. Essential it’s a light spinning setup only in baitcaster form.
  17. I have three low cost setups: Phenix Feather 7’1 FTX Series-C71L-2 AbuGarcia 6’4 ***-642MLIII Diawa Bass Beat 6’2” Bass X632MLB-Y All three with Shimano SLX BFS XG reels spooled with 15# Power Pro braid. All three are excellent for tiny baits and lures with the Phenix being exceptional. Sorry, didn’t mean to hijack your thread!!
  18. I like that even better, a firm light or soft medium will fit right in.
  19. I plan on using it on a light rod with Smackdown 10# (4equ would be about 130 yds) for small neds and creature bugs and possibly small kitech’s. In person it is a bit smaller than I had hoped for but I can make it work fishing from my canoe as long as I can fling 60/70 yards with it. 6# capacity is 100 yards, so may use 15# (6#equ).
  20. Just in from Digitaka. Now waiting on the Edge 703-S
  21. The routine of netting smaller ones makes the larger ones, routine.
  22. It’s a IMX light spinning 781-2. My other rods are all IMX as well. medium casting 783, medium heavy casting 784, heavy 844and a 844 GLX JWR rod. The IMX are late ‘90’s and the GLX is around 2015.
  23. This ^^^^^ I don’t have enough room to walk it off so the drill is my favorite, and fastest method.
  24. Typically as you have observed, shallow. At times the channel is deep enough but late summer very shallow. I’m gonna hit Waverly sometime next week or so trying to find some decent water for the tournament.
